Ian Graham is the former Director of Research at Liverpool FC and the founder of sports advisory business Ludonautics. We had him on the podcast because of his incredible book about statistics and the use of data in football which allowed Liverpool to win multiple trophies and build a dominant side.
Ian is incredibly insightful in his book but it's amazing to get some time to speak to him in person because I was a massive fan of his book.

Liverpool delivered a commanding performance against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield, securing a 4-0 victory in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, overturning a 1-0 first-leg deficit to win 4-1 on aggregate. The goals were scored by Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Virgil van Dijk. Gakpo’s early goal set the tone, with Salah doubling the lead from the penalty spot after Darwin Núñez was fouled. Szoboszlai and van Dijk added to the tally, ensuring a comprehensive win.
Tottenham, hampered by injuries, struggled to contend with Liverpool’s relentless pressure and failed to register a shot on target. The Reds dominated possession, particularly in the first half, controlling 73% of the ball. This victory propels Liverpool into the final against Newcastle United at Wembley on March 16. Under the guidance of manager Arne Slot, Liverpool remains in contention for multiple trophies this season, including the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.
