Nellie Knickerbocker, a friend of Elizabeth Beardsley, was also a prominent female citizen of Elkhart. Her spirited personality, as well as her spirit, are still talked about today. This episode explores Nellie's life, her lonely end, and the continuing stories of her possible presence in the house at 2nd and Harrison Streets.

Founding Director of Ruthmere and current chairman of the Ruthmere Foundation, Robert B. Beardsley recounts some of the interesting challenges faced in the early years of Ruthmere's restoration. Robert is a lifelong historic preservationist and has restored many historic homes, including a Portuguese Castle. He currently resides in Florida, making frequent trips to Elkhart to provide advice and guidance in the further development of Ruthmere Foundation projects.
