Setting up a classic beat just to send it flying on the wings of some furiously-timed old-school tech effects, the composition white-knuckles its way in a stunning harmony that won’t soon be forgotten or lose its place at the high point of DJ sets in any venue.
Flic Klaudia Gawlas Remix - Bringing a 90s-style vibe to a high-stepping tech beat, this remix explores new spaces by blowing out vast, echoing basses into the mix that brings to mind the best of times in warehouse parties. Positively bursting with energy, one can’t help but catch the impulse to move to these dangerously contagious beats.

A slow intro this is not, throwing listeners into a high-octane ride that crackles with pure, tech house glory on the high-hat tip. Bouncing synths keep the fun quotient high here, offering a youthful, speeding energy that begs to be danced to for the entirety of the track.
Spektre Halcyon was originally released as a single few month ago, since than the A&Rs Roberto Capuno and Audiomatiques were caught from the sonorities and decided to work on a remix version, Roberto involved his friend Ricardo (Industrialyzer) to work on the project. Halcyon Remixes come to be a synergy of 3 different techno characters.

Legendary Italian techno label Unrilis, founded by top producer Rino Cerrone and A&R’ed by Luigi Madonna & Roberto Capuano, turns 10 in 2016, and this next EP is the first of many special anniversary releases planned by the label. It comes from acclaimed talent Enrico Sangiuliano and features a stunning remix by Mark Reeve.
Enrico Sangiuliano came up through illegal raves and is now a top DJ who plays all over the world and has his music played by the likes of Adam Beyer and Sven Vath. He has had the longest ever running techno number one on Beatport (his remix of ‘Can You Hear Me’ for DJ Boris on Alleanza) and is one of the best selling artists on the site at any one time. His music comes on Cocoon and Drumcode amongst others, and is powerful, direct stuff for the dance floor.
Written entirely in Italy, “X-Pollination (or cross-pollination) is fundamentally the key factor of growth, consciousness and life,” says the artist. “It’s the way I connect with people, share my passion, fly from one place to another and put many influences and elements into my music.”
The title track is eight minutes of slow burning but hypnotic techno funk with rolling rubber drums and nervy pads. Frazzled synths add post apocalyptic vibes to this main room anthem and many well crafted peaks and troughs along the way help make it even more standout. It is a real techno classic in the making.
Mark Reeve is the UK star who remixes. He has a long history with techno that goes back to the rave scene. Since then his education has taken in trips to techno mecca The Omen, has resulted in music on Cocoon and collabs with Pig & Dan. He has also released on Drumcode and has a big rolling sound that fills the world’s finest clubs and warehouses with his unique grooves. His take on the original is more energetic, with searing synths, cantering kicks and a dark energy that makes you pump your fist and stomp the floor. It is full of drama and is perfect balanced from start to finish.
This is another fine release in a landmark year for one of techno’s most consistent performers.

We are so proud to host on Guest Mix #005 Swedish Techno Master Mr. CARI LEKEBUSCH - Sound architect, DJ, Producer, Cozmick B-Boy and Praying Mantis An extraordinary figure in the second generation of Techno producers to emerge from the electronic music explosion of the late 1980s and early 1990s, Cari Lekebusch has sustained over twenty years in music through an unwavering commitment and an unquenchable desire to constantly move things forward. Complex (Cari Lekebusch Dub Version) - A low form of warbling with an insistence on high-energy that pairs well with the rest of the collection, audiences are taken on a ride that progresses from the chattering of hollow retro effects to hive-sounding collectives. Pitching the journey from one inventive twist to the next makes for an experience that engages all the way through, brilliantly showcasing talent on top of talent with this mind-bending track.
Trust (Original) - The intro makes a drum out of the listener’s ears, slamming hard and fast enough to get hearts beating in time with the beat as it charges forward. The electric energy finds wings to rise on through spiraling voices, angelic and quickly launched into a full-on onslaught of what might be rockets or lasers, but works well with a brilliant tandem that is guaranteed to please listeners everywhere.
Complex (Original) - A deep pulse-pounding beat paired with a warbling thrum blasts out from the intro here, warning that some serious work is at hand in terms of dance-worthy, well-made electronic music. Underground-inspired minimalism is soon joined by echoing instrumentals that rise like a cyclone around the bass line, their sharpness matched well with other ground-shaking effect combining to achieve a more-than solid hit.
Complex (Cari Lekebusch Remix) - Taking an uptempo, hip-hop inspired direction with the original beat, this interpretation of “Complex” passes the rhythm from playful highs to haunting lows, knocking back and forth between the ghostly and a straight-up party-inducing momentum that doesn’t let up for the entirety of the track. An intriguing array of crispness and high-pitches keeps the song on its toes, showcasing just how high inspiration can go when guided through the right hands.
Verin Tools nasty bassline with a little acid feeling, rhythms spark & twist, bleeps come all over the place.. making a grand impact on the dancefloor.
Deraout “Antidoto” - Crackling claps leap out of the gate here, which are quickly joined by some truly inventive company. A synthesizer approaches a dog’s bark, intense vocals come on like a waterfall, and rips of feedback punch through the harmony, all while maintaining high energy and heavy bass, which are always a sure bet when aiming for sure-fire crowd-pleasers.
[ Wex 10 ] “Pass Pass” - Dueling distorted vocals climb upward here above a track that still includes some truly haunting, darker depths. At the same time, a chattering escalation of sound whistles upwards, like the air itself is being pierced by the heights being aimed for here, yet the track never forgets to make room for thudding bass and upbeat energy.
Subjects and Jon Hash “Hypster” - Currents of dark thrumming, and what sound like electric cicadas, gather under a tempo that rises around the listener here, delivering an excellent intro. As great as the first third is, the song then proceeds into more ethereal territory, with washes of sound crashed on by an occasional cymbal. This is then shaded in with waves of more synthesizers and vocals that only build on the canvas for more tides of thoroughly enjoyable music.
Pascal Nuzzo “Heat” - The beats surround the listener out of the gate on this track, bouncing down and around before a tinny beat comes in, bringing an inventive trade-off between choppy clapping and low synth tones. Like being on the inside of some giant metallic tunnel, the ride here is as pleasurable to listen to as it is fun to see the new places it goes to
Chris Colburn “Newt” - Opposites definitely attract on this track, with a hard thumping rolling out the carpet above a skipping high hat beneath it. The song explores deeper realms from the get-go, guiding the listener down a warbling pathway that comes off as only authoritative and insistent on keeping the tempo flying and thoroughly danceable.
Almost in answer to Capriatiʼs opener Flavio Diazʼs ʻCrazy Horseʼ sees more snare mayhem fused to an impenetrable groove.
Gaetano Parisio rolls out shuffling drums and filtered stabs aplenty with his accomplished and upbeat ʻBlack Outʼ which marks the midway point of the EP
Luigi Madonna closes down the EP with subtle, classic dub touches in the brilliantly titled ʻPapershitʼ.
Sasha Carrassi turns the lights out for the bubbling, moody and aggressive ʻTetrahertzʼ.
With track two, Mihalis Safras lends his talents to a rework of the title cut and the result is a creeping, fluid and machine-like slice of modern techno which sees the Greek producer rein in the original’s violent soundscape just the right amount.
Finally, Cerrone delivers ‘Basic Rude’, an out-and-out festival barnstormer that unapologetically aims itself squarely at the floor with a vast arsenal of builds, drops and percussive flourishes.
Rino Cerrone, the indomitable figurehead of Naples’ fertile techno scene, has a formidable reputation as one of the most consistent and prolific producers around.
‘Man on Moon’ is Cerrone’s seventh release for his own Unrilis imprint and it’s the sort of belligerently driving affair that has cemented his lynchpin status in worldwide techno.
Fusing guttural bottom-end and clinically executed percussion together is what Cerrone does best and that’s evident on ‘Man on Moon’ but it’s his steadfast approach to seemingly infinite tension building that is most apparent. From the distorted builds of the first half to the fever-pitch mechanics of the main drop ‘Man on Moon’ is a brutally effective piece.
Rino Cerrone’s remix is considerably more stripped but loses none of the original’s power. Moodier and with a sinister edge, it’s an interpretation which provides an exciting slant on the original.
Needing Chords, backed by a remix from another Neapolitan legend in Rino Cerrone, is a heavy-set, muscular techno-workout which builds with unbridled intensity.
Finally, it’s the trippy synths of Program Meanings that close the EP. Heavily layered the track constantly and fluidly shifts with filters revealing new combinations of layers throughout while a funk licked bassline and heavy drums do the rest.
The skippy funk of Fake Stuff follows and does so with a playful urgency. Threaded with a snaking white noise motif that ebbs and flows under staccato keys, it¹s hugely hypnotic while not loosing its groove.
Memories from 2010.
With this, ‘The Data Wave EP’, we see Cerrone serve up exactly what has made him such a bankable artist. Each track has funk, groove and swing in equal measure while each having a distinctive identity. From the banging relentlessness of ‘Ascendant’ and ‘Distra Funky’ to the more fractured rhythms of ‘That’s Problem’ and ‘Royal Time’ there’s room for every track in a set. Even when considering the slightly darker tones of ‘Simple Slide’, Cerrone retains a funk which ties it to the other tracks to create a true EP. This is truly a master at work, and one who hasn’t let his quality slide over the years – essential!

Side A Spider Pork good sounding tune, well worked and arranged, plenty of groove with warped percussions, and snappy snares, all together great stuff.
