The custodians of Ellys Manor House are sorry to inform you we have been forced to close our significant and historic building to the public.
Ellys Manor House and the neighbouring Grade 1 listed Church form key iconic landmarks in the area and both buildings encapsulate early modern European and British history. We know many of you have enjoyed visiting us.
We have made this difficult decision in protest against the actions of the South Kesteven District Council. Regrettably, despite more than two years of trying to work together cooperatively, the Council is taking action which we believe adversely affects the heritage value of Ellys Manor House and Church.

Often when one mentions Aesop’s fables, you can guarantee you will get a reply like, oh! I did those at school. However, I say to you all, the fables are not just something you do at primary or prep school and forget about, they are a philosophy for life. Aesop’s fables – the art of thinking wisely. The Merchants Way will show just how misguided people were in days of old, because, no other group has brought so much good to our society then and now. Merchants were once so reviled, that the disdained showed for them, they needed another word, thus the term usury, because no sin was worse than that of the usurer, no activity more repugnant to the Lord. In The Merchants Way, our aim is not to preach to you or at you. We will lay out the evidence for you to form your own conclusion. More importantly, it is for us to become more observant.
