From the 60's to today, it seems like people in the U.S. have thought of more and more ways to reject God and do their own thing. What is the source of sin? Why do people resist God's plan? In this episode, I look at Romans 1 and describe the 4 stages of depravity. We then look at man's only hope.
On this show, we're going to look at Romans 1, where the Apostle Paul begins to tells us who Jesus Christ is. Since the 1950's there has been an increased turning away from from faith, doctrine, and Jesus Christ. Then, there was a spiritual revival. Now, there's ever increasing secularization and church attendance is falling each year. In his book, Bad Religion: How We Became a Nation of Heretics, Ross Douthat examines the causes, so I draw on his book as well as other sources.
Where am I going to get the money for ________? You fill in the blank. It seems like we have more and more needs all the time. We worry, we fret. But what is the real answer? Listen in as Mark offers an encouraging word about how God provides. We'll look at Scripture and hear real examples of how God has provided for others.
How do I remember God loves me? That's a great question when we go through trials. Listen as I share some encouragement from God's Word, the Bible. Hopefully this show will minister to a need that you have today.
Today we're going to hear from someone with a lot of experience in the area of parenting, as well as coaching parents. Tim Chapman has eleven children and one of his passions is to help equip parents in their role. He wants all parents to raise kids who will follow Christ at home and also when they are "launched" out of the home. Tim calls this approach grace-based parenting and I'm sure that you'll find his advice extremely helpful as you work at being a better Christian parent.
I recently had the opportunity to record Erwin Bailey's testimony about how he went from being a violent criminal and drug addict to serving God in a Christian ministry. Erwin now works for Reconciliation Outreach, but prior to that he expected to spend his life behind bars.
Back in 1991, Larry Burkett wrote a book, The Coming Economic Earthquake. He then wrote an article in 2000 explaining why he thought the "earthquake" hadn't hit yet, but would. I look at three major problems we're facing as a nation: increased governmental regulation, out of control government spending, and the economic health of individual families. The bottom line? As followers of Jesus Christ we should not fear the problems around us, but trust that God will bring us through.

In this episode, I show that there are two types of purpose: the purpose of doing, and the purpose of being. The purpose of being isn't well understood, even by followers of Jesus Christ. I talk about what the purpose of being is and how to begin to find it. (Hint: it isn't through secularism or our economy or anything you'll find in our everyday culture).
This is my take on the book, A Renegade’s Guide to God, by David Foster. He said in the book that, “If you’re weary of the morality police and their cellophane sainthood, then lean in and let’s talk.” I really wanted to interview Mr. Foster for this show but unfortunately he passed away a few months ago. So, I’m taking some of the themes of the book and giving my views on them.
An "average" guy, Delbert Ervin started a ministry taking toys to Mexico. On this show, you'll hear what inspired a regular church member with a wife and two kids to begin finding people in other countries who are doing some kind of ministry and then lending them a helping hand. Delbert doesn't have a church job and is not a trained minister. I hope by hearing his story of simply finding a need and filling it that someone might be inspired to do what they've been contemplating--that one of my listeners will simply start doing the ministry that they've had a desire to do.
On this show I interview Bob Massey, pastor of Southwest Christian Fellowship in Burleson, Texas. Bob has a lot of experience in the area of depression. He’s been a minister for 40 years, plus he went through a very bad period in his own life. We look at what the Bible has to say about this condition that affects many lives each year. And as always, on the Mark Veritas Show we provide solid Conservative Christian Bible teaching.
This is a solo podcast where I look at something my pastor, Dirk Hodges of Freedom Church in Fort Worth, said in a sermon that struck me. He said that there are three areas in life where followers of Christ must act. Or, as it says in the show title, three areas you can't do nothing. These areas include worldy values attacking our families, elected officials lacking judgment, and when the name of Jesus is maligned. In this show I look at these 3 areas and provide some examples of how they are affecting our lives and what we can do in response.
