The chameleon is the master of disguise. No matter what environment it is placed in, it will change its color to fit in. One of the fundamental aspects of being a Christian, however, is that we should be easily identifiable. But for many, rather than stand out, we would prefer to just blend in with our surroundings. The problem is that we end up looking, sounding and acting just like the world around us. In doing so, we lose all the marks of being a follower of Jesus. We have to fight the urge to fit in and embrace our new life in Christ.

In this episode Pastor Dan teaches us that God, because He decided to use us to accomplish His mission in this world, calls us His “ambassadors.” We are called to be God’s voice to reconcile people to Himself. This includes the willingness to speak up and proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. Will you join in?

In this episode Pastor Dan teaches us that as followers of Christ, we have been chosen by the God of the universe as His prized possession. We are chosen and set apart through Christ our Savior. This has all happened for a specific purpose which is to allow us to proclaim the goodness of God to those who still find themselves in the darkness.

In this episode Pastor Dan teaches us that the world has certain patterns to it that do not lead to a full life. Greed, anger, jealousy, materialism, and dishonesty are just a few of them. Paul instructs us in the book of Romans to no longer conform or blend in with the ways of the world, but instead we are to live as transformed people. Transformation doesn’t happen by accident; it is an intentional way of daily living.

Our growth as Christians does not primarily take place in comfortable situations. Many characters in the Bible find themselves in the wilderness right before God uses them to make a huge impact. God wants to do a mighty work in us because he wants to do a mighty work through us. God knows that we grow most through tough trials, serious testing and difficult circumstances. It’s in these places we find out God is always with us and he is working in us.

In this episode, Pastor Dan talks about how Joseph is treated harshly by his brothers and thrown into a cistern in the desert. He is eventually sold into slavery in Egypt. His life takes many twists and turns until he finally is elevated to power in Egypt. After his family has to come to Egypt to be saved, Joseph faces how to respond to the pain they caused him. Rather than seek revenge, Joseph sees God’s work in what was supposed to be the end of his life. God won’t waste your pain in the wilderness, he will use it to bring him glory and to bless others.

In this episode, Pastor Dan talks about how after Elijah’s greatest moment as a prophet of God, he flees in terror from the evil Queen Jezebel. He finds himself in a cave at Mt. Horeb. God asks him a very important question, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” Elijah is there because he is vulnerable and afraid. God promises to speak to him, but He did not speak in the wind, He did not speak in the earthquake, and He did not speak in the fire. It was in the still small voice that Elijah heard from God. Sometimes, in our most vulnerable times of our lives, we must get very quiet to hear God speak to us.

In this episode, Pastor Dan talks about how David had already been anointed the new King of Israel, Saul was still on the throne. David hides for his life in a cave deep in the Desert of En Gedi as Saul hunts him down. Even though David had a chance to kill Saul, he is patient and recognizes that God would be the one to bring him the throne in due time. Sometimes in the wilderness it is hard to wait, but never forget God’s timing is always better than ours.

In this episode, Pastor Dan talks about how Jesus is fresh off a forty-day fast when the devil tests him by tempting him to satisfy his cravings, to show off his power and to be recognized as ruler. Each time Satan tempts Jesus to give into these worldly desires, Jesus silences him by quoting scripture, deciding to allow God to satisfy him, and to worship God alone. When we are tempted in the wilderness times of life we can also stand firm in the faith and the truth of scripture.

God will use anything in our lives to shape us into the people that he wants us to be. If there is something in our lives that is unhealthy for us, God will want to prune it. If there is something in our lives that is good but not the best, God will want to prune it.

Revival is not something to be taken lightly. Over the history of our faith we can point to many instances of genuine revival amongst communities of faith. As diverse as the specific instances may be, there are generally similar circumstances surrounding these occurrences. Hunger for God, desperation, stagnancy in the faith, adverse situations…  All that to say...  is there any reason why revival couldn’t happen now? In your church, your city, or your denomination?

There’s a rising sense of uncertainty and turmoil in the world and in our lives. Loss and disappointment seem endless—whether because of an unexpected diagnosis, a desperate search for a job, or our concern for the future of those we love. During heart-crushing “Why is this happening?” moments, we can feel abandoned. Has God given up on us? Is he no longer responding? Has he just . . . left?

In this episode, Pastor Dan teaches us that God is in the restoration business and there’s no project too big, too broken, or too far-gone for Him to tackle.

Since the beginning, the Christian faith has been on a collision course with the culture that it exists within. The values of the world do not align with the values of the Faith. The priorities of the world do not align with the priorities of the Faith. Therefore, we ought not be surprised when we experience conflict and tensions, but instead, we should see them as confirmation that we are doing the right thing. Stay true and live bold.

In this episode, Pastor Dan talks about how the world is full of things we can love at the expense of our relationship with Jesus. Success, money, status, or accomplishments can become the things we value above all else. We need to make the conscious decision to love what matters most in our lives by giving all of our time, energy, and affection to Jesus.

In this episode, Pastor Dan talks about how truth is in short supply within our world. The word of God gives us all of the truth we need to live a full life in Christ. We should keep these truths and consider them wisdom, instruction, and insight for our lives. No matter what we do, we cannot lose truth.

Paul considered these hollow and deceptive. He warned Christians to be careful what they believed to be true. Stand firm on the simple truths of the Gospel.

The Church has a way of over complicating what it means to be a follower of Jesus. There can be a lot of requirements and expectations that in the end do not result in a more robust and vibrant faith. Sometimes it is most helpful to simply get back to the basics. Focusing on spending time in prayer, reading the scriptures, confessing our sin, and exercising our faith in serving others will help us engage with the foundations of our faith.

On this episode, Pastor Dan shares how God has created us with good works in mind. At the very least, our purpose on this earth is to serve others and fulfill God’s plan for our lives. God is faithful and will give us opportunities and the resources necessary to make a difference wherever we are.

There’s no denying we’re in a season of conflict and chaos—but the noise in your news feed doesn’t have to pollute your soul. You can find peace. You can find hope. You can trust in the One who holds the future in His hands.

Our world was already complicated. Add a global pandemic, social unrest, and a contentious election to the mix, and people are more overwhelmed than ever before. We’re stressed. Worried. Divided. Many of our relationships have reached the breaking point over politics or even seemingly simple things like masks. During this season of relentless chaos, and conflict, who can we believe? What do we know is actually true? Where do we put our trust?

Our world was already complicated. Add a global pandemic, social unrest, and a contentious election to the mix, and people are more overwhelmed than ever before. We’re stressed. Worried. Divided. Many of our relationships have reached the breaking point over politics or even seemingly simple things like masks. During this season of relentless chaos, and conflict, who can we believe? What do we know is actually true? Where do we put our trust?

What do you want to do with your life? It’s a question that we are asked from the time we are kids. It might be easy to think of this in terms of a job, or a family. But what about living a life with meaning? Many people would say they want to live a life of significance, but we’re not sure how to do that. How do you know what God is calling you to do with your life? Where do you start? How do you stay on track? And if you lose your way, how can you find it again?

In this series, we’ll be reclaiming the word “calling.” It’s not just what we’re good at, or what we choose to do. Calling is a sacred word that speaks to our innermost beings. As we go through this two-week series, we’ll be reminded that calling isn’t as much about “what” as it is “who.” In order to discover God’s true calling on our lives, we need to focus less on what we’re doing and more on what we’re becoming: fully devoted followers of Christ.

We have a tendency to carry painful parts of our past with us: resentment against people who’ve hurt us, mistakes we’ve made, or even bitterness toward God. This series will show listeners how to recognize the grudges they’re carrying against others and themselves, and how the pain we hold on to weighs us down and keeps us from stepping into the freedom that God has for us. Each week of The Grudge will teach us how to let go of the past for good and embrace true forgiveness for the future.

Jesus wept. It’s the shortest sentence in the Bible but it reveals so much about who Jesus was. He was not aloof, or distant from the people he met. He was present. He wept. He felt deeply. The Bible shows us many examples of Jesus’s emotions: love, compassion, righteous anger, sadness, and more. In this series, we’ll look at how Jesus processed emotions and how following His example can help us see how our own emotions can be used to fulfill God’s purpose in our lives.

These days it’s easy to see life the way we want to. We can filter our images, pick the news we want to hear, and listen only to the viewpoints that agree with us. When we do that, we start to distort our view of the world. The same thing can happen to our view of God. We reshape our perception of Him into what we want to believe, or what we want to think about others. Jesus came to bring us the truth about God and His plan for us, and it doesn’t always sound like what you may think.

This series cuts through the noise of the world’s perceptions of Jesus and what it means to follow Him, in ways that may be surprising to some people. It plays off the idea of memes as jokes, rhetorical devices, and sources of misinformation to debunk popular misconceptions and bring clear truth.

Pastor Dan will use the story of Bartimaeus (Mark 10:46-52) to illustrate how God wants what’s best for us. In the passage, Jesus asks the blind beggar, “What do you want me to do for you?” What would we ask God for if He asked us that same question? Bartimaeus had the faith to ask and received his sight. Sometimes we don’t have what we want simply because we don’t have the faith to ask God for it or believe He can do it.

In many ways, hymns are the oral history of our faith. Like the Psalms in Scripture, they are passed from generation to generation, sung in cathedrals, chapels, or around a family piano. Every generation has its anthems, and while we continue to sing to Him new songs to this day, sometimes the timeless music of our predecessors is just what the soul needs. This series will delve into history to take some of those classic, overlooked, or left-behind hymns and explore their meaning, breathing new life into their melodies to illuminate the hope they have for us today.

This series reminds us that despite the uncertainty of the world and the pressure we place on ourselves, Scripture directs us to release that anxiety to God. When we do, we don’t have to lie awake at night. Our shortness of breath can be replaced by life-giving rest. We can feel a peace that goes beyond all understanding. We will be challenged to be open about our insecurities and recognize that we all suffer from them.

Each one of us has a good work to do. We may not see it yet, but it’s often right there in front of our eyes. For Nehemiah, it was a crumbled wall. For you, it could be an injustice in the world, or a need you see what no one else does. During this series, we will learn how Nehemiah responded to his own calling and learn how we can change our own world just by leaning into the unique calling that God has put in front of each of us.
