BACK TO THE BASICS: THE MUSICIt is perhaps overdue for me to add a section about music and all the facets that I’ve explored over my lifetime. At the root of my being there has always been an instrument in my hands and an album or ten that I was deeply emersed in listening. Without it, I have no concept of what life would have been. There are whole worlds I would never know and friends I would never have met and perhaps a child who would never have been born.

Music bonded me with people who did not speak my language but could communicate to me all the same. It brought friends together and helped us to bury those lost. It tortured some and healed others.

As I can look back at over 40 years of playing instruments with a dedicated focus, perhaps its finally ok for me to editorialize on what I like and share insight with my friends and the curious who may wander by to read. Thank you for visiting.

I have thousands of CDs, hundreds of LPS, cassettes, videos and of course dozens and dozens of instruments in many categories. I will work to explore as wide a range of music as possible and focus on what drew me to listen to that style, genre, instrument, culture or region. As a 10 year radio programmer at Pacifica, I have to thank all of those who gave me a chance to be a producer, host and creator with others in my deepest passion. Music Beyond Borders will always be one of my most precious experiences, greatest honors and best contributions in one. In that spirit, lets take a journey again.

THE NEXT REVIEW: SHAWN LANEShawn Lane was one of the greatest guitarists to ever play and people continue to discover him for the first time thanks to many YouTube videos of Shawn’s playing and reaction videos boosting the journey to discover his talent.
