In this podcast collaboration between MBCM (Mennonite Brethren Church of Manitoba), MB Mission and MB Herald, we chat with members of our family who are bringing their passion for all kinds of things to the work of building God’s kingdom.
Jennifer Choi tells the story of how Winnipeg’s Portage Avenue Church became a multi-ethnic congregation. She also shares her personal journey of becoming the Cross-Cultural Associate Pastor at Portage Avenue. She talks about the importance of embracing cultural diversity, and how being a multi-ethnic church gives us a glimpse of heaven on earth.

Darren Milley talks of his own experience of being a truck driver and how God led him to start PowerServe. In his YouTube channel, “The Father Trucker” speaks to the joys and challenges of driving truck and always points his viewers to Jesus. PowerServe is about to launch a free app called The Christian Truckers Toolbox, which will give Christian truckers access to various features such as RightNow Media, the option to speak to a trucker chaplain as well as a “find a trucker-friendly church” search tool. Tony Martens (Lead Pastor of Dalmeny Community Church in Dalmeny, SK) shares his journey of recognizing the patterns of spiritual abuse he has personally experienced as well as for those in his congregation. He talks of the damaging effects of manipulation and control in the church and his heart for those who have been spiritually abused. The leadership at Dalmeny Community Church has, in consultation with victims, created a policy regarding spiritual abuse. Gloria Woodland (Chaplaincy Program Director at MB Seminary) gives a brief overview of the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) program and her thoughts on the recent decision to delay the expansion of the program to include persons suffering solely from a mental illness. She speaks to why Christians should be concerned about expanding the eligibility criteria and how loneliness contributes to individuals seeking out MAiD. Gloria also shares her perspective on MAiD’s impact on the medical professionals, patients, patients’ families and Christians across Canada.

MB Biblical Seminary president Mark Wessner discusses the purpose of CCMBC’s National Ministry Team and his role in it.
