A relatively "small" issue led to a very big topic this week on America W.K. after Andrew had to deal with a series of bug bites. Andrew discusses why life isn't supposed to be easy and that it has pressures, both internal and external that brings challenges. Andrew also talks about being in the present mentally and the focus and clarity it takes to dive into activities. He also explains why we should question ourselves before we question others while also appreciating people who make us question ourselves. Everything in life can be turned upside down at any moment and we need to find inner security to not let little things disrupt us. We should also remember that we are connected to all things big and small, including bugs and we should be thankful for what we have.
Andrew sets out to clarify what home really is. While it is true that there is no place like home; home is not a place but something that happens within. He thinks that you are never truly away from home and every experience that happens remains inside us and we leave a mark everywhere we go as well. Andrew also discusses his love of travel, how to deal with time away, and how he gave up his physical home when he was first touring full time because he was never there along with what he connected to during that period. Everything counts in life, including the process in which we acquire knowledge and nothing exists for no reason. It is harder to shape inner experiences but inner experiences are much more significant than outer experiences.

There's something special about children and animals. Why do we feel instant joy and happiness when we come across a baby? Why does our heart melt when we hold a puppy or kitten? Andrew believes it's because these little angels, and that's what they are angels from above, illicit the best of us. Babies and animals are a pure connection with absolute positivity. They bring out the best in those around them and inspire pure goodness. They themselves see only in happiness, they live in the moment and are hindered by nothing. A child automatically connects us with joy and the basic existence of animals inspires us. When we interact with them it brings out the good in us and Andrew wants us to embrace that. We must seek that out and make it a part of our lives, especially men. Men are taught to be tough and that it is weak to feel love and emotion. These emotions make us vulnerable and open us up to be moved, and we must allow our selves to be open to love and engage in it.

Andrew discusses his love of movies and how more than any other medium, motion pictures capture our imaginations and emotions to give us experiences that live with us for our entire lives. We respond to the stimulus that movies give to our emotions and they alter our feelings towards life and the experiences we live, and there in lies their importance. Very few other outlets affect us in such a way. Movies teach us about the human condition and connect with our psyche and Andrew feels we should be open to artists when they tell a story through movies.
Andrew ponders the evolution of change and maturity in our lives, and the confusion and fears that change brings with it. As we age, we watch things we've grow accustomed to disappear with the changing times. We begin to ponder the scope of our place in the universe and sometimes it's too much to fathom, but at the same time it can be awe inspiring and confusing. Technologies we're used to go by the wayside as new methods replace things we're used to, and that can be set in fears as things around us change. The important thing is to embrace where we're going and be open to new changes.
Andrew discusses the difference between passion and nonsense and the apposing feelings that these words illicit. He feels it's not so much important to feel passion for anything in particular, it's more important to feel passion for life and live it to the fullest. We're pressured to find our passion in life and figure out what we want to do with our lives, and Andrew says this is nonsense. Don't force yourself to find your passion, let it find you. You're not your job, or your grades, or your hobby. You're passion is who you are, and it's not necessarily what you have to do with your life.
Andrew talks about the thing he's most passionate about, and that is music. Music bridges the divide between cultures, heals the wounds of past transgressions and opens our minds to connect on a deeper level than any other medium. Music is the sound of being alive. Music sounds like it feels to be alive and music is inseparable from being alive. Andrew also shares a story of his relationship with a very successful musician and that musician's difficulty with facing his mortality. He discusses the mentality of many of the older school musicians and their animosity towards newer music, and how this is wrong. Andrew feels if you don't like music, it is your obligation to write music you do like and introduce that into the world. It is our responsibility to stay connected to the world no matter our age.
Andrew discusses the fleeting moments of life and how incredibly short it is. Getting lost in the everyday mundane routines easily makes us forget to enjoy the moments, so Andrew wants you to stop and experience it all and savor it. When we lose the ones closes to us, it reminds us of our mortality and Andrew wants you to remember those lost with positivity and fervor, and to also be patient, in chasing life's dreams. Also, Andrew answers fan questions and comments with advice and deep clarity.
Andrew asks the age old question, where did life begin, when did existence begin, where do we come from? In asking those questions he tries to understand why we are here, and points the question that perhaps the mystery of our origins can give us a hint to the truth of our beginnings. Andrew attempts to explore what life is or what we are by looking back at how we came into being. Also, what is the spirit? He tries to give shape to it, give a voice to it and turn to it, because if we recognize our spirit or inner voice, and tap into it, it can connect us to our past.
Andrew discusses the superstitions and meanings behind "unlucky" occurrences like black cats and broken mirrors to try to understand the way we think. Also, how we move forward and become better versions of ourselves through breakthroughs and transformative experiences. How the energy of life changing event is so strong that it transforms you into a new being. These events force you to re-evaluate and prioritize your life to understand what's really important. Plus, saluting those who truly sacrifice, those who abandon their dreams and take on the challenge of helping another, like John Valjean of Les Miserable, who Andrew goes into detail about.
Andrew discusses separating our behavior into 3 areas of effort, going from savage to human and eventually reaching divine. He believes how we carry out our impulses is important and to better ourselves we must focus on what we say or communicate as well as what we think. To do this we must face insecurity by challenging it with productivity and create positive thoughts, words and actions. Also, in reality our problems with others, are actually our problems with ourselves and when you lower your standards to beat someone else, you're actually losing, not winning.
Andrew wants you to push through the pain and overcome physical adversity to accomplish great things. He proves this by bringing you his show while suffering a severe case of food poisoning. In between deep breaths and long pauses of nausea, Andrew realizes how we all take our health for granted and the importance of caring for ones physical state. He discusses the numerous times he's performed with pain and even a broken ankle, refusing to cancel his tour and instead taking the stage in a wheel chair. He wonders if pain and illness is a punishment for past transgressions in this life or a previous one. Also, it's unavoidable to have negative thoughts, no matter how positive you try to be, but Andrew wants you to use past tense when speaking negative thoughts. Because, when you open yourself up to negativity, even in thought, you become susceptible to it.
Andrew explains his theory of being human and the levels attributed to humanity, from primal to enlightened. Also, on this journey called life, Andrew credits everything he's accomplished to his musical career. It all begin with a guy and a keyboard, and during that time he's met many people that have taught him about life and about personal interactions with people, that build special relationships. Also, Andrew shares his new perspective on this roller coaster ride of life, and how just like a roller coaster with it's ups and downs, life has ups and downs, and nothing is perfect, least of all life, which is just fine.
Andrew doesn't believe in the term "over thinking," actually he thinks we all need to over think, or think more...think as much as possible! We need to stay engaged, in the moment and as aware as possible. Also, beauty and our bodies, how does beauty relate to the human body? Plus, Andrew's worst nightmare revealed and how to handle people you don't like, while still maintaining positivity.
Andrew talks about "the emergency," which is a bit difficult to comprehend, because the emergency is us. It is a worry, a nagging, a tipping point that leads to our survival as humans, and outlasting ourselves. It's about our existence and how we will protect it. Andrew says all that happens in the world the good and the bad unites humanity to goodness, and we need to embrace it. We need to push for integrity and do the right thing, even when no one is watching and no one will thank you for it.
The truth is hard to find, it's elusive and constantly escaping our grasp. This is one of Andrew's focus this week on America WK. Searching for the truth has been a life long attempt for Andrew and in trying to find it, that itself is the truth. It sounds complicated but Andrew explains. Also, the human body and the fascinating machine that it is. How our choices affect our body and the importance of being mindful of that.
Andrew talks about the fundamental concept of positivity, and staying positive in the face of adversity. He discusses the fact that life's adversities define who we are, and both the good as well as the bad reveal the truth of our lives. Because life is one big adventure that we must experience both sides of, and each experience is a test of our humanity. That and more on America WK!
