Over the last year we have all experienced loss in some form or another, and in the last week the passing of HRH The Prince Philip has allowed us to mourn not just him but also to sit, to stop and give ourselves time to reflect on loss and our relationship with it.

This latest episode in the Snowglobe Project, presented by meditation and mindfulness teacher Simon Heale, gives you 28 minutes of space to reflect on someone or something that has been lost or has passed. There is nothing to achieve in this practice, it is a breathing and an open space to allow whatever arises to be held and witnessed.

In our daily or possibly weekly meditations are we aware of our reactivity with our inner goings on? Our inner chatter, inner conversations, judgements, ruminating and more? If we can learn to step back each time and give ourselves that tiny space then we can slowly cultivate a little more responsiveness and a little less reactivity. We may then be able to take some of that, newly hard-wired, response into our daily lives. Maybe.

In ep 30 of the Snowglobe Project, Simon Heale guides you through 27 minutes of breathing, calm, space and stillness.

In this episode of The Snowglobe Project, Simon Heale offers you two, yes TWO, practices. Conversations is a short meditation on the dialogue we can have with ourselves in practice, about the qualities we can bring though dialoguing.

Choices is the longer meditation which explores the practice of wise-choice: deliberately choosing where to rest our attention, to regain a sense of choice, albeit briefly and in practice, where in our daily lives we may feel, certainly currently, that we have little choice. If we can take a sense of this wise-choosing into our day to day living, we may experience things in a new framework. Maybe.

Enjoy them both.

As we all enter a new year and with current events not relenting, it is a real challenge to be present, to remind ourselves of what is in our control, to then take actions that can be of service, be of value to not just ourselves and those around us, but perhaps to a wider community.

This settling in practice aims to give us 30 minutes of grounding, of breathing, of allowing whatever troubling or repetitive thinking we have, to settle, with a little gift at the end too.

I hope you enjoy it.

During these incredibly uncertain and challenging days we are all facing, it can be almost impossible to stay grounded, calm and balanced emotionally. Our need as humans is to know whats up ahead, what is the threat or more often than not, what can i look forward to. We cannot do this at the moment to the extend we have all become used to. The practice that Simon Heale guides you through is to look at the area of impermanence and how we can in our meditation, be aware of our need to hold on to desires, needs and things, and to let it go as often as we can. Then perhaps in our lives we can bring this awareness to ourselves, to notice when we are falling into the trap of desire and need and suffering because it cannot be how we want it or thought it would be.

Meditation is not the answer to these tough times, but it could be an answer. Enjoy

In this meditation, Simon Heale guides you through the practice of watching our true selves unfold before our inner eyes or awareness, and much like an audience member watching a performance, we just sit and let the images, the words, the 'music' happen. By seeing if we can watch our own show in each practice we may be able to change our relationship with our 'selves'. Maybe.

In this episode Simon Heale guides you through an insight practice examining the difference between our thoughts and our feelings: suggesting the possibility that one is the soundtrack that colours our world. So sit back, upright or lying down, and enjoy listening to your soundtrack.

You cant stop the waves, said Jon Kabat-Zin, but you can learn to surf.

In this episode of the Snowglobe Project, Simon Heale guides you through the practice of 'surfing' on and away from our thinking mind, from our stories, repetitive patterns of thinking, towards a more solid place, that of our body and our breath. Accepting that this is how our minds work and deliberately settling into a more flexible way of being.

In this episode, SImon Heale guides you through a meditation practice focussing on a core Buddhist principle that all things arise, they all change and eventually all will cease. If we can grasp this, especially in todays climate, then we can perhaps get on with living. The risk is that we stay rooted to what we dont have anymore, to what was and what we long for, so by playing with the possibility of impermanence then we may cultivate freedom and choice again in our lives.

Enjoy.

In episode 21 of the Snowglobe Project podcast, Simon Heale guides you through an exploration of how we all get attached to what we want, need or desire, how to cultivate awareness of attachment in practice, and then how to shift our relationship with it all. Within each practice we do is an opportunity to rebuild our relationships with our human tendency for attachment.

As the Sufi poet Rumi suggested: Being human is like a guest house, every meditation, every moment is an opportunity to welcome each new arrival:  a thought, a feeling, a sensation. This is not a sing-along, sorry! It is a meditation practice to explore one of the foundations of insight practice, to be able to deliberately let go of any attachment to a thought, a feeling or a sensation and to settle on a single place. Mindfulness is the zeitgeist but sadly it has been stripped of its true meaning and is now sold off as a cheap imitation around the world. Here, you can experience how simple it is to be aware, to be mindful in any moment and then to let it go, for nothing, apart from your time.

I hope you enjoy this exploration.

In this podcast Simon Heale poses the possibility for us to sit and be with our experiences, our 'sea of troubles' as Hamlet says in his famous soliloquy, and to 'suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune'. Do we fight them or can we oppose them? So in this practice, it is an opportunity to sit back, to practice non-attachment, distance and allow our 'sea of troubles' to pass or rage or settle.
