If you’ve ever been told to “just do your Kegels” to prep for birth, I want you to pause right there — because what if I told you that Kegels might actually make your birth harder? Yep, you heard me. The same exercise that’s supposed to help your pelvic floor could actually be working against you.

In this episode we’re breaking down:

  • The truth about Kegels and why they’re not always what you want when you’re prepping for birth.

  • A quick 2-minute daily exercise you can start right now that works way better than Kegels to get your body truly ready for birth.

EP 35:
In today’s episode, we’re diving into two of the most common breastfeeding challenges—low milk supply and latching issues—and, more importantly, how to overcome them. If you’re pregnant and worried about starting your breastfeeding journey, this episode is for you. I’ll share practical tips and actionable advice that will give you the confidence you need to breastfeed successfully.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Demand and Supply – It’s not about supply and demand; it’s demand and supply! The more your baby nurses, the more milk your body will produce.
  2. Hydration and Nourishment – Stay hydrated and well-nourished to help your body heal postpartum and produce enough milk.
  3. Avoid Early Supplementation – Supplementing with formula too early can interrupt your body’s milk production process. Aim to breastfeed or pump at least eight times in 24 hours to establish a steady supply.
  4. Latching Tips – Positioning is key. Keep your baby’s head, neck, and body aligned for a deep latch. Don’t let the baby latch onto just the nipple—make sure they take in the areola too!

EP 34:
In today’s mini episode, we kick off a brand-new signature series on the Oh Baybee! podcast, diving into the amazing benefits of breastfeeding. Breast milk isn’t just food – it’s a nutritional superfood specifically designed for your baby’s needs. Stephanie explains how breast milk helps seal a newborn’s vulnerable digestive system, protects them from infections, and sets them up for long-term health. Plus, she breaks down the difference between breast milk, donor milk, and formula, so you can feel empowered to make the best choice for your baby.

Key Points Covered:

  1. Breast Milk Is a Superfood:
Just like a green juice for adults, breast milk is the ultimate health booster for your baby, providing essential nutrients and immune-boosting properties.
  2. Breastfeeding vs. Formula:
While formula serves its purpose, breast milk is scientifically proven to offer unparalleled benefits, including antibodies, enzymes, and hormones that support lifelong health.
  3. Newborn Gut Health:
Stephanie explains how breast milk helps seal your baby’s digestive system, which is critical for protecting their health in those early weeks and months.
  4. Choosing Breast Milk First:
Always opt for your own breast milk first, then donor milk if necessary, with formula as the third option. Breastfeeding sets your baby up for success, far beyond just hunger satisfaction.

EP 31:
Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options for your prenatal care?

You’re not alone! One of the most common questions I get from pregnant women is, "Should I choose a midwife or an OBGYN for my birth?" It’s a valid question and one that deserves some serious consideration. Both professionals play vital roles in the birthing process, but they offer different approaches and philosophies. Let’s break it down so you can find your perfect match!

What’s the Difference?

Midwives

Midwives are trained healthcare providers who specialize in supporting women through pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Their approach tends to be more holistic and personalized. Here are a few key things to know about midwives:

  • Philosophy: Midwives believe in the natural process of childbirth and typically focus on low-risk pregnancies. They often encourage minimal intervention unless absolutely necessary, which can lead to a more empowering birth experience.
  • Care Style: Midwives tend to spend more time with you during your appointments, focusing on building a relationship and understanding your individual needs. They often provide emotional support and education to help you feel confident in your choices.
  • Settings: While many midwives can deliver in hospitals, they also offer home births or birthing center options, giving you flexibility based on your preferences.

OBGYNs

OBGYNs (Obstetricians/Gynecologists) are medical doctors who specialize in women’s reproductive health and childbirth. Their approach may be more clinical and focused on medical procedures. Here’s what you should know about OBGYNs:

  • Philosophy: OBGYNs are trained to handle a wide range of medical situations, including high-risk pregnancies. They’re experts in interventions and can provide necessary medical care quickly if complications arise.
  • Care Style: OBGYNs typically have busier schedules and may spend less time with you during appointments. While they do provide valuable support, the approach can sometimes feel more impersonal compared to midwives.
  • Settings: OBGYNs deliver primarily in hospitals, where they have access to advanced medical equipment and staff for emergency situations.

Which Is Right for You?

Choosing between a midwife and an OBGYN really comes down to your personal preferences and comfort level. Here are a few questions to consider:

  • What’s your birth plan? If you envision a natural birth with minimal interventions, a midwife might align more with your goals. If you want the security of a hospital setting with immediate medical intervention, an OBGYN might be the better fit.
  • How do you feel about medical interventions? Are you open to them, or do you prefer a more natural approach? Understanding your feelings about medical procedures can help guide your choice.
  • What type of relationship do you want with your caregiver? Think about how important it is for you to have a close, personal relationship versus a more clinical one. This can significantly influence your overall experience.

EP 28:
Here’s how a birth blueprint will take your birth to the next level.

As a mom of 2, I know how excited you are to give birth. I also know it’s incredibly overwhelming trying to figure out how to prepare for it. Especially if you've never done it before. My friend, birth preparation is one of the most challenging aspects of giving birth! And if you’re relying solely on google, it can be even more difficult.

Although google is great for quick tidbits, it won't fully support you for birth. The missing piece is often having a plan...a blueprint! And that’s where Bump To Bundle Blueprint comes in! It's a step-by-step guide to help you go from novice to pro. This strategy will support you from birth through postpartum.

I know – it almost sounds too good to be true! But believe me, the secret success of this strategy is backed by real data from my work as a doula and from tons of my students who have created blueprints that have helped them birth well. So, today, I’m lifting the curtain on preparing and perfecting your plan for birth!

Listen in and remember that creating a blueprint isn't just about planning. It's about creating the ultimate birth story that you'll share for a lifetime. Trust me, you won’t regret giving it a try!

Why you should intentionally record/document aspects of your birth journey.

Let's face it. Giving birth is arguably one of the most important things you'll ever do. And for that reason alone, it's worth remembering.

Here’s the good news. By listening to this episode, you can slam the door in the face of regret (concerning your pregnancy at least) - before it ever comes a knockin'.

That’s why I wanted to record this episode for you.

In it, I share:

  • Why you should document your birth journey
  • What it will cost you, if you DON'T document your journey

...And special moments to remember

Now if that wasn't enough, I've also included an extra special treat - A FREE Special Moments Checklist to make it even easier for you to jumpstart your efforts to start documenting your birth journey today!

Okay Mama!

Pop in those ear buds, grab your favorite drink (non-alcoholic of course) hit play and ENJOY!

EP 22:

The Do's and Don'ts of umbilical cord care.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret — less is more...especially when we're talking about how to care for your sweet baby's umbilical cord.

Shortly after you give birth, your baby's umbilical cord is snipped, leaving behind a small stump that will fall off within a few weeks.

Before you're ready to leave the hospital with your newborn, it's important to know how to care for the umbilical cord stump. Your doctor or nurse will likely briefly go over basic tips, but you may feel so overwhelmed with information that you find yourself unclear on how to deal with the belly button area once you get home.

And that’s why I wanted to record this episode for you. In it, I share The DO's and DON'TS for umbilical cord care.

This is a quick listen so press play and enjoy!

As always, thank you so much for tuning in to this episode.

EP 21:
6 reasons why the water surrounding your baby is vitally important to their health.

Have you heard of amniotic fluid?

During pregnancy, your baby develops inside a bag or sac called the amniotic sac. This sac contains a clear liquid called amniotic fluid. Your baby floats in it while resting in the womb. Amniotic fluid protects and nourishes your baby.

Here’s why that’s important, mama. As with most things concerning your pregnancy, you heavily influence the amniotic ecosystem your baby lives in.

In this episode, you’ll hear where the fluid comes from and all of the functions it serves for your baby while in utero.

That's right!

Today I'm doing a deep dive on amniotic fluid, the silent hero. Cause let's face it - most of us have heard of it but don't have a clue what it actually does.

So, if you’re ready to hear the lowdown about your amniotic fluid, then grab something to take notes with and pay close attention to this episode!

As always, thank you so much for tuning in to this episode.

Unfortunately, there's a few factors that determine your likelihood of getting stretch marks. and spoiler alert...

They don't involve a special oil or cream.

If you want to know the tea on stretch marks, then keep reading my friend because today’s episode we'll talk all about what they are and how to know if they'll be hit or miss during your pregnancy.

EP 18:
Some are myths, some are misconceptions...they're all unrealistic!

"Don't hold your newborn too much. You're going to spoil them."

If I had a dime for every time, I heard that statement over the course of my life, I'd be a wealthy woman.

Not only is it not true, but it's also impossible to spoil a newborn. At birth, babies don't have the capacity to understand the concept of "being spoiled". And even though they DO desire to be held and close to mommy...there's another reason why.

Tune in today, to find out this and more as I offer 6 unrealistic expectations we have for newborns and specific mindset shifts you can make now so bonding with you baby will be a breeze.

Whether you're relaxing with your favorite Starbucks drink in hand, going for a walk or loading laundry - this episode is sure to delight.

After giving birth and coaching lots of pregnant women through their birth preparation, here’s what I learned.

To call giving birth for the first time a whirlwind would be an understatement.

My water broke at 5pm on Friday but my son wasn't born until 8:03pm on Saturday (yes, you read that right!).

It was both rewarding and exhausting…and I won’t lie, I had to "lock in" with my focus a few times throughout labor to keep my eyes on the prize - because although the contractions were heavy hitting – hearing my baby's first cry was literally a dream come true for me.

Now if you’ve been with me for a while, you probably know that there's a lot to learn about the entire experience of birth preparation, childbirth and breastfeeding.

In true Stephanie Poole fashion, I wasn't prepared as much as I could have been, simply because it was my first pregnancy, and I didn't know - what I didn't know!

I’m happy to report that my sweet baby was born happy and healthy– but of course, there were some things I learned along the way (and in retrospect) that I wanted to share with you.

In this episode, you’ll hear the 3 biggest lessons I learned, which I can guarantee will be helpful at some point during your birth journey. And what’s great is you can also apply the lessons to future births too.

So, pop in your earpods, cozy on up and tune in!

Happy Birthing!!!

If you want to enjoy becoming a new mom, here’s where you should start.

When women think of becoming a mom, they often think of what they see on the 'Gram – from their favorite influencer or brand.

And while those sources are aesthetically pleasing, the reality of becoming a mom is not so glamourous.

It's understandable to struggle with things pertaining to just you, not to mention the intense level of complexity when adding a newborn into the mix.

Pair that with sleep deprivation, poopy diapers, the learning curve of breastfeeding and the not-so-subtle emotional roller coaster of emotions, also known as "baby blues."

Yeah, like I said...it's a lot.

The good news is as a certified doula and birth prep coach. I promise not to leave you hangin'.

In this episode, I’m diving into the less talked about but much needed conversation about why new moms are often miserable, along with tips on how you can plan to avoid it.

I promise this episode is a great listen for any pregnant women with a fast-approaching due date, looking to have a positive birth experience.

Happy Birthing!!!

After teaching lots of pregnant women how to breastfeed, here’s what I learned,

Breastfeeding is simple...NOT easy.

What do I mean by that? I'm so glad you asked.

The process of breastfeeding has been around for thousands of years...since the beginning of time!

In this episode, you’ll hear the 3 biggest myths, DEBUNKED!, I can guarantee this episode will not disappoint if you are pregnant and want to breastfeed your sweet baby. And what’s great is you can apply the insight I share right from moment of birth. I have two words for you - Miracle Hour.

Flag down on the play...if you're able to recognize these 3 things when it comes to planning for your birth.

In this episode I'll tell you 3 blaring signs to know whether or not you're ready for birth.

The step-by-step birth prep system behind my proven program, Bump To Bundle Blueprint®If you had told me years ago that one day, I would have created a program to help moms prepare for birth, I probably would've called your bluff.

Creating a program — especially one that I know is going to help lots of women prepare for birth while transitioning into motherhood – is honest-to-goodness a dream come true.

There are so many things that I’ve learned about childbirth and what it takes to have a positive birth experience that I could probably write a book about it.

And I just might do that — but for now, tune in to this episode to get my 4-phase process I use with my clients to get them ready for birth.

You’ll hear about the difference between a birth plan and a birth blueprint, the specific areas I focus on when preparing my clients, and about all of the little birthing nuances that other childbirth educators tend to skip over.

So, if you want to start preparing for birth, or are curious about what it takes to pull it off...successfully – then pop in your earbuds and give this episode a listen.

Let's jump right in!

As I go through this episode, I'll be answering the questions laid out at the beginning: what is mom-guilt? Is it a thing? Do all mommies have it? Does it go away?

the best way to understand it is to know that it's rooted in unrealistic expectations of yourself.

Some of the thoughts that can trigger feelings of guilt are:

thinking that everything should be perfect.

-feeling like I needed to be spot on for everything.

-not wanting to say no.

-not being okay with imperfections.

All that is unnecessary weight to bare.

Trust me as a new mom you'll have plenty of things to carry.

Mom-guilt shouldn't be it.

In This Episode you'll learn 4 key things new moms should NOT feel guilty about AND I'll also share a powerful technique that I teach my clients to make a quick pivot to purposeful positive thoughts to do motherhood joyfully!

As always, thank you so much for tuning in to my channel.

How your birth plan will help you decrease overwhelm and increase confidence

Most women struggle with their transition into motherhood.

  • 1-in-4 said they were completely daunted by motherhood
  • More than half of the women polled during pregnancy admitted to being overwhelmed after they gave birth

As a matter of fact, 57% said that the first few weeks and months after giving birth was a bit of a blur.

I'm here with good news:

Women who have a birth plan are more likely to have a positive birth experience as well as a simple and more comfortable transition into motherhood.
