The people gathered around Jesus were hungry. The disciples couldn't see what was right in front of them - that Jesus came to satisfy the deepest desires of our hearts. In the demonstration of receiving and offering, Jesus shows us that rest is found when we come to God, and it is here that we are Blessed, Broken & Given. In this life, there is joy as we are RENEWED in the Lord.
The Prodigal son wants nothing to do with his father and thinks he can find rest in all the things of the world. When he finally comes to the end of himself, he remembers that he was once a son and returns home with the hopes of being a slave. Yet, he is surprised by grace and is brought into the rest and joy of his father. In the same way, in Christ, we are REVIVED in the Lord.
This feast is the second of the three harvest feasts. It occurs exactly seven weeks after the Feasts of First Fruits, so it's also called Pentecost, which means "50days." God's plan to save souls included more than the Jews. Through Jesus, this plan was revealed. In Matthew 9:37, Jesus tells His disciples that "the harvest is great, but the workers are few." Then he put the plan into place: In Acts 1:4 He tells them to wait in Jerusalem for the Holy Spirit.
That arrival was the day the Church was born- Pentecost - and the harvest began with 3000 souls. The message spread to both Jews and Gentiles( the two leavened loaves of bread), extending the harvest to us.
The Feast of First fruits is one of the three Jewish harvest feasts to thank and honor God for all he provided. The priests sacrificed Passover lambs on the 14th day of the month of Nisan, and the first day of Passover was the 15th. The Feast of First Fruits on the third day, the 16th of Nisan. This "third-day" Celebration was the same day that Jesus resurrected from the dead.
In 1 Corinthians 15:20, Paul refers to Jesus as the first fruits of the dead. He represents the first of the great harvest of souls that will resurrect to eternal life because of the new Covenant in His blood.
This seven-day feast begins on the day following the start of Passover. In the haste of the Israelites to leave Egypt, there was no time to add leaven(yeast) to their bread. During this time, remembering the hardships in Egypt and how God freed them from captivity, the Jews ate nothing leavened. Leaven often represents sin and decay in the Bible. Once Incorporated, yeast becomes an inseparable part of the bread; the same is true for sin's effect on our lives.
In John 6:35, Jesus boldly states that he is bread of life. Not only does he remove our sins, he nourishes our souls.
This feast remembers the last plague in Egypt when the angel of death "passed over" the children of Israel who applied the blood of the lamb to their doors. The Israelites took a bundle of hyssop and dipped it into the blood in the basin at the threshold. When John the Baptist said, "Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" he understood the Old Testament reference.
In the New Testament, we see that Jesus - born in a stable, visited by shepherds, and led to the slaughter - is that lamb sent for us. His death allows the judgement we deserve to pass over us.
At the center of the table are not our preferences but the risen and living Christ. From the center and in community, we experience the transforming power of Christ Jesus. We come to the table as we are and invite others as they are - but we invite the presence of Jesus to change us from the inside out.
In a world that is deeply divided, and the god of the age is the self, hospitality is an act of kindness and defiance. It is tethering ourselves to the nature and character of Christ, placing ourselves in the position of servants. It is at the table where we extend the tangible grace of Christ to the hurting, lost, broken, and marginalized. For the early church, this is how they changed the world.
The history of the church and the people of God live and move around a table. It is here that the world saw for the first time the beautiful mosaic that is the Kingdom dining around a table, breaking bread, and confessing the risen Christ. The table is where the mystery of the Gospel is made visible to the watching world.
The church is meant to be a "city on a hill....the light of the world." The church and followers of Jesus must exist for the good of the city. This begins with the gathering, but we must then scatter into the world and into the city to see the flourishing of all people.
The greatest threat to us growing in our faith (there is no threat to the Gospel- The Kingdom cannot be shaken) is the radical and idolatrous autonomy we hold on to. In a culture whose only commitment is to be committed to nothing, the people of Jesus must be radically committed to the church historically, globally, and locally.
The story of the Gospel is not about making bad people good, but moving those who are dead to life in Christ. This means that sin is not fundamentally about behavior a detachment from God and the things of God. The Gospel then awakens us to life and brings us back into communion with God.
The prayer of the church and Christians is “Maranatha” because we desire and believe in the Lord’s return. The Lord Jesus speaks, promising to come soon as the Divine Messiah. As Christians, we are not afraid but trust that God is both loving and just and ask Him to release His judgment over the world so that the world might be fully saved and consummated.
One of the most comforting realities is that Jesus Christ is still and always will be sovereign over all things. While “Maranatha” in this context is not a prayer for the immanent return of Christ, it is a prayer that reminds us that we must be active agents, living self-controlled and sober-minded. In this, we will be devoted to prayer and of use in the Kingdom. Our prayer is for God to make things right in the world.
As one of the prayers of early Christians, “Maranatha” simply meant, “Our Lord has come.” It was a reminder to the church that in a world where we often feel far from God or we sense God’s distance, we are anchored in the truth of His incarnation. This is important for us because we want to begin our year by being reminded that God in Christ Jesus has entered the human story.
Jesus was born as the Savior King in fulfillment of numerous prophecies and promises found in the Old Testament Scriptures. His birth was marked by several significant aspects that revealed his identity as the long-awaited Messiah and Savior of the world: This King was affirmed by divine announcements, visits from dignitaries, declarations by angels, and the purpose of his birth to save humanity from sin. His birth in Bethlehem marked the beginning of God's redemptive plan, offering salvation and eternal life to all who believe in him.
Jesus was a King who was born to suffer so that His people would know what it means to live. Jesus was the suffering King who endured betrayal, rejection, mockery, humiliation, suffering, and death for the sake of humanity. Through his sacrificial death and triumphant resurrection, he provided forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life, fulfilling the prophecies of the suffering servant in the Old Testament and establishing his reign as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
Jesus came as a shepherd by caring for the lost, guiding and teaching his followers, protecting, and
defending them, sacrificing himself for their sake, and ultimately rising from the dead to secure eternal life for all who believe in him. He embodies the qualities of the Good Shepherd who loves, leads, and lays down his life for his sheep. This was the prophet announcement – that one day, a true Messiah would come and shepherd His people.
Unlike the kings of the earth who were domineering over their subjects and demanded to be served, Jesus exemplified what it means to be a servant. He walked as a king of humility displaying sacrificial love, compassion, and mercy for those who were deeply broken. As the servant King, Jesus challenged traditional notions of leadership and power, showing that true greatness is found in humble service to others.

Jesus was the Spirit-filled King who demonstrated his authority, performed miracles, taught with wisdom, overcame temptation, and ultimately conquered death through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, fulfilling his mission to reconcile humanity to God and establish the Kingdom of God on earth. He was conceived by the Spirit (birth), led by the Spirit (wilderness), and empowered by the Spirit (miracles, authority, power).
Christ’s supremacy demands our response in missions. He reigns as Creator, Savior, and King, offering eternal hope to all. Sharing the gospel reflects His unmatched love, worth, and glory. Through missions, we declare His authority and bring His light to nations in need of redemption. His greatness fuels our passion and joy, compelling us to make His name known.
The question we must ask is – is Christ worth it?

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the the same God today. There is no generation too far gone for the work of the cross to cover.
As a follow of Jesus, our joy is dependent on Him. It requires that we look within, look around, and look up. Joy is available for those who commune with Lord.
The invitation of the cross is one the provides the purpose our souls long for. While culture defines our earthly purposes purpose based on changing standards, the eternal purpose given to us by Jesus stays the same. A purpose of unity and oneness in the church.
As Christians, we are to reject the world and embrace the cross. As we live face to face with God, we do so with a faith and trust that only can come through Jesus.
The Christian life is a pursuit of creator and created.

The story of Ruth finally comes to an end and unlike modern romance stories of our day, this story is ultimately not about the lives of the character. Rather, in this narrative we see that ways in which God is faithful to restore a broken people back to Himself. We are a lost and broken people constantly looking for someone or something to redeem us. The good news of the Bible, and what we see in this story is the way in which God moves on our behalf and brings us into life with Him.

Ruth Series | Week 3
As we move further in the story, we continue to see the character of God and His faithfulness displayed. The story continues to use this small struggling family as the backdrop for the way in which God works in the lives of those who love Him. This third chapter has remnants and takes us back to the moment in the garden when Adam sees Eve; there are clues pointing towards the final redemption in Christ. The key to this chapter is seeing how burdens (for example what Boaz gives Ruth) is a blessing. God is always leading His people into greater blessing (Psalm 119:1) in what often initially feels like a burden.

In the second chapter we are introduced to another main character who points towards the revelation of Christ Himself. One of the keys in the story that is revealed in this chapter is the way in which God is always working behind the scenes. The author reminds us that while the presence of God is real to the characters, His purpose still remains hidden. We can trust in a God who has been the same and is unchanging because of the nature of His character. We see through Boaz the way in which God works – he gives bread, wine, safety and protection – His mercies are truly new every morning. What seemed like a story that would end in tragedy now has the beginning marks of God’s faithful turnaround.
In the first chapter we are introduced right away to the context that sets the stage for the entire story. Our main characters find themselves living in a time where people are living as they please in rebellion words God. During a time of drought, in the land God had promised them a decision was made to take control and go to a place outside the promise of God. The story begins with out characters not trysting God. Yet, the word we find throughout the first chapter is "shut" which means to "return." The entire first chapter sets the theme of the story and what it means to return to God's grace – even in our sin and rebellion we see the evidence of God's grace as He draws us back to Himself.
People of the Book | Week 3
The Bible is the story of God inviting humanity to know Him and become who He has called us to be. The Bible then is not just any book, but the eternal Word of God that is essential in our spiritual formation. The aim of the Christian life is not to do “Christian things” but to be transformed into the likeness of Christ. The Scriptures invite us to see what it means to live this life and points us to the One who empowers us

On Palm Sunday the people gathered and expressed their worship to King Jesus. This was a significant event because it captures our motivation for evangelism. While people being lost and far from good should break our hearts, our real motivation is that God deserves the worship of all people. Every nation, and all people must worship Him for He is worthy, and “the Father is seeking those who will worship Him in Spirit and the truth.”

Stories are the most powerful way to change a culture. In fact, whoever tells a better story shapes the culture. As followers of Jesus, we are invited to share not only the story of the resurrection but the story of God in our own lives. In order for this to happen we must see that we are Deployed with a Mission, Direction with an Invitation, and Dependent on God’s power. We must see that God doesn’t choose us because He is limited in His options but He is gracious in His invitation.

While there are many moments in Scripture that can serve as the backdrop to experiencing the peace of God, the name Shalom only appears in the book of Judges. At the time we find Israel living in a cycle of sin which is met with God’s punishment. Once more Israel repents and experiences God’s deliverance, yet the cycle continues. We discover that though God always desires to bring peace to His people, disobedience disrupts peace. In the midst of chaos, God brings His peace and still the restless in our hearts. In His shalom we experience His anchoring rest.

The people of God have been rescued from slavery and they are moving towards the land that God has promised them. Yet, in this wilderness God is not only moving them towards a destination, He is also refining in them an identity. As the people of God we are called to be holy as God is Holy. He is refining us and moving us to live as living sacrifices who are holy and pleasing to Him. In this we are trust that God is crafting in us and anchoring us to live in a new Holy Identity.

This name of God arises in a situation where the people of God are exceptionally discouraged. The source of their discouragement was rooted in a belief that perhaps God had left with. In the midst of this they faced a battle that depended on God’s presence with them. We face daily and seasonal spiritual battles and we often fight them as if God has left us. Yet, we are reminded that God in Christ Jesus is our victory against every spiritual battle we face. Christ is our sure and present hope; in Him we leave with the assurance of victory.

Names of God | Week 3
After God had freed the people of Israel, He lead them into the wilderness where they would face difficult and often unsurmountable situations. While God was certainly working to teach His people how to trust Him to deliver, He was then, and is now actively working in our lives for us to see that He is very present in our pains and trials. There is a purpose in our suffering and God desires for us to turn to Him as the source of encouragement because His presence always brings an abiding hope in dire circumstances.

Advent: All Hail The King
Message 4 | Prince of Peace
Peace is the assurance that God is in charge.
The promise of Advent is that hope is on the way. The Wonderful Counselor brings light in the darkness to an overwhelmed people.
We face death everyday. There are temptations calling us in every which direction. Voices leading us astray, telling us lies about what we believe. A Life of Vitality is required to live a life like Jesus.
Everyone hates being subject to authority, but when we humbly submit ourselves to a caring king, we will be lifted up to places only God can take us.
Suffering can be expected on this side of heaven, but as believers we have a choice: will we trust a good God, or take our life into our own hands?
Jesus taught his disciples, "love your neighbor and pray for those who persecute you." In 1 Peter 3:8-17, the Apostle seeks to pass on this teaching to his audience in an attempt to significantly improve the effectiveness of the church.
Chosen and Rejected: A life of exile is a reality of being chosen by God and rejected by men. Though sometimes difficult to embrace, we can be encouraged because Jesus too was chosen and rejected.
The time of exile is not merely a time of waiting, it is a time of engagement. In 1 Peter 1:13-21 the apostle shows that as exiles, we are called to engage in the behavior and character of God.
The New Covenant is more than an additional covenant. It is the fulfillment of all preceding covenants that reveal the God of Glory.
The gift of grace is the invitation to reject a life of striving for God and instead rest in the presence of God.
The third biblical covenant is called the "Mosaic Covenant." Through Moses God calls His people a holy nation of priests in the Kingdom as a demonstration of His divine power.
God's design for our spiritual formation is found in families. God-fearing families help prepare you for the call God has on your life.
Through the Abrahamic covenant, God reveals himself to be faithful and true. This reality sets before us an opportunity to hope in something certain and assured.

The Letter of 3 John illustrates that Life at the King’s Table is not an individualistic existence. It is a communal life colored by intentional presence. In a culture made up with individuals that move further away from one another, 3 John exists as a prophetic illustration for the church.
So often as Christians, we live from a place of defeat and uncertainty. The final verses of 1 John, implore us that when we believe in Jesus, there are things that we can know to be certain. When we take on the confidence of the King, we can experience a victorious life.
When you are anchored in God’s love for you, you will experience the adventure of what He will do through you.
Many of life’s challenges come down to two simple questions, “what’s my problem?” and “what power do I have to overcome it?” 1 John 4:1-6 unpacks a problem that the people of God were facing, as well as the power they possessed to overcome. Our modern setting has similar problems. Thankfully, followers of Jesus have the same power to overcome.

Every table has a culture of conduct. Who prays? How many courses are there? Is food served buffet or family style. At the King's Table there is a certain conduct for those who dine with him. But it has little to do with how many courses are being served, rather its entirely focused on pursuing conduct that is congruent with the King himself.
When you are confused about our calling God invites you into a clarity - the result is a JOY-FILLED LIFE.
Our lives are filled with more than we know what to do with. What if faith was the center of all of it?
Caring for the widow and the orphan is not a suggestion, but rather a mandate that puts our faith on display. This is a call to turn our orthodoxy in orthopraxy, our beliefs into action. The foster care crisis in America is a solvable issue if the church is willing to enter into the hard places and care for God’s children and families.
In the final week of our series, “Living Stones,” Pastor Nirup teaches us that God is ready to reach the world if we are ready to be used in the process.

There now lies an empty grave where death once reigned. On his way to the cross, Jesus makes us an offer—come and die. However daunting, this invitation comes with great promise. In giving up everything we find the only way to true life is to carry our cross and come after Him.

Whenever Jesus spoke or moved in power people responded with shock and awe. They were amazed at the authority of Christ. Yet, Jesus never used His power or wisdom to paralyze us. Rather, in our times of greatest desperation Jesus declares and delivers into us exactly what we need.

Advent is the time of year where the church has historically reflected and remembered the coming of Christ.
This year, we join the early church in centering ourselves in the hope of the coming Christ. While the days may seem uncertain and our plans go through a constant shifting, we anchor ourselves in the reality that are not a people who live for hope, but from it.
This week we look at why God promised that a Savior would come.
The book of Jonah ends with questions, both Jonah and God asking them, and those questions reveal the nature of the one asking. When your identity is anchored in the cross your security will be in the compassion of Christ.

The book of Ephesians is primarily a letter written to the church to help the people of God have their identity formed in Christ. One of the most profound statements Jesus makes is when he says, "I am the good shepherd." This is not simply a remark that Jesus makes off the cuff. Rather, it is a powerful invitation into the protection and provision of God's promise.
Our identity is not in our shortcomings, or our flaws, or the ways that the world defines us. Our Identity is in the Lord. Watch as Catherine takes us through a portion of Ruth and talks about the redemption of our identity.

The Good News of the Gospel is not that Jesus came to make bad people good but to make dead people alive. God loves you. Because He loves you He sent His Son Jesus to invite you into life with him.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God who lived a perfect life and died on the cross for your sins. He was buried in a tomb but three days later He walked out defeating sin and death. In His resurrection, He offers you a new life in God. This decision to believe is not simply to acknowledge it but to begin the journey of walking with Jesus every day. Isn't it odd that the first "I am" statement that Jesus makes is comparing himself to bread? But it is a very strategic comparison. Bread is universal, it is symbolic, it is something that everyone understands culturally, gluten or not. It is something everyone has in their homes, something that is close, somethings that we depend on. Jesus is the same way. He is close, he is familiar, he is known.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
How do you pray in a pandemic? If we are honest, praying in times that are difficult does not come easy to us. Yet, God's Word reminds us to "rejoice, pray and give thanks" in all seasons. One can give without loving but one cannot love without giving. We see that God loved and because he loved He gave everything he had and then He gave some more. The greatest embodiment of love is sacrifice. That means that love will always cost something. The tithe is a perfect example of that sacrifice and Jesus is the perfect example of the tithe. Jesus was God's tithe to humanity.
Giving is an act of love. God gave his only Son to die on the cross for our sins, and that is the greatest gift humanity has ever received. However, we so often put different values on those that we claim to love, we place different values in certain treasures. What the world needs today is a church that has a prophetic voice - a church and people who have a vision of the future and boldly proclaim it the world. In this message Pastor Nirup challenges the church to reclaim the voice it was given by the Lord Jesus.
If we believe God has called the church to reach the worship with the gospel, we must believe that the gospel is for all people. In this message Pastor Nirup teaches how the church of the future must be a multi-ethnic and multi-generational church that is marked by love.
For the early church, their faith was all about formation. They were less interested in doing what was relevant but more concerned about whether or not they were becoming more like Christ. In this message Pastor Nirup teaches on how the early church looked to be formed like Christ in Christian fellowship.
If we claim that the church is built on the foundation of Christ, then it follows that the church must operate with power from the Holy Spirit.
If The Father is the one who revealed Jesus to humanity than the church must proclaim Christ to the world. In this message, Pastor Nirup teaches how the church must always have Christ as its foundation if it is to move into the future and become the church God has called her to be.
In Matthew 16 Jesus makes a profound statement that He is building His church. It seems from the time He ascended into heaven, God was creating a glorious new future and He decided He would do it through this church. In this first message of our series Pastor Nirup teaches on this text and how the future we look forward to is already here and how we as the church are called to experience it.
Galatians 6:11-18
There is only one true Gospel and when we encounter it we experience a new reality of grace, peace, and mercy. When we experience that Gospel we cannot help but express it. Galatians 6:1-10

Galatians 5:13-25
Freedom is what we are called to. Yet, freedom is not the end-all. Freedom is not complete in and of itself. Freedom creates opportunity for us to make active choices. The Gospel calls us into freedom and to make the most of that freedom by choosing to love.
Galatians 5:7-12
There are two voices inviting you into freedom. One is actual freedom and the other is the perception of freedom. In this message, Pastor Nirup teaches from a powerful section of the letter to the Galatians where Jesus invites us into a life of actual freedom. However, we must choose which voice we will listen to.
Galatians 5:1-6
Freedom is the longing of the human soul. We search for it. We work for it. We fight for it. The invitation of the Gospel is to discover that the freedom you desire has been delivered in Christ.
Galatians 4:21-31
In this piece of scripture, we see Paul wrapping up his thoughts with a story on two paths. There's the path of self reliance that always leads to slavery, or the path for the true freedom we desire, which has been delivered in the Gospel.
Galatians 4:8-20
The Christian life is an adventure filled with discovery, fulfillment, and beauty. However, the challenges that come with this path may leave us pondering a return to a lesser life. Let’s take a look at how Galatians 4:8-20 challenges us to keep moving forward.
Galatians 3:23 - 4:7
Faith is the place where we move from strangers to adopted children of God. In this message Pastor Nirup teaches from one of the most powerful texts in all of Scripture. We see that in Christ, we are invited into the very presence of God and get to have a place at His table.
Galatians 3:15-22
In this section of the book of Galatians Paul takes on the tone of a professor as he compares a life founded in grace versus a life based on performance. The reality is that grace is far superior to a life where performing for God is the standard to live by.
Galatians 3:10-14
All humanity shares a common need, to be made right before God. The unfortunate reality is that we often seek to meet this need through that which is insufficient. In Galatians 3:10-14, Paul unpacks the way this deep need can be met through the all-sufficient Jesus.
Galatians 3:1-9
We often believe in the Good News that Jesus saves us but then we somehow come to believe that it is up to our own effort to continue God's transforming work in our selves. In this message, we are reminded once again that it is the Spirit of God who not only begins the work of salvation in us but carries it through every day.
Galatians 2:20
God is not in the business of forcing, manipulating or tricking us to believe in Him. Rather, He persuades us to trust Him with evidence of His kindness, love, and compassion. When we accept the invitation to trust Him we live in full expectation of what He promises.
Galatians 2:11-21
In this portion of his letter to the Galatian church, Paul lays out what is arguably the core of Christian doctrine. The longing of our hearts is to be made right with God, ourselves and others. In this message, we see the reality of how the Gospel brings us to a place where we in fact right before God, and in turn with ourselves and others.
Galatians 2:1-10
It could be said that the Christian life is a life of freedom. This freedom is not something we earn but a gift that is given in and through Christ Jesus. In this message Pastor Nirup preaches why we are called as followers of Jesus to not compromise on the gospel but rather live in its power and grace.
Galatians 1:10-24
The promise of the Gospel is to meet you where you are. No matter what season of life you are in; no matter what your past looks like the reality is this - God doesn’t meet you where you should be, or you could be, or where are you must be. God meets you where you are and He loves you enough not to leave you the way He found you.

The book of Galatians portrays the beauty of the Christian life as a life of freedom. The letter also makes it clear that there is only one Gospel - one of grace and peace. In this first message, we are invited to experience the reality of the Gospel that God has graciously given to us.
For many people Mother’s Day is a wonderful day to celebrate the reality of motherhood. Yet for many others, Mother’s Day can be quite a difficult day.

Jesus is the Good Shepherd of our lives. He has called His followers to be shepherds under Him and to teach and care for others using God’s Word. We however are called to do with sacrificial love and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
So often when we think of the Gospel, we think immediately of Jesus on the cross for our sins. This is a key part of the Gospel, but what is too often forgotten is that the Gospel begins far before that... the Gospel begins when Jesus begins his ministry. What we see over and over is that the Heart of Jesus to be our shepherd- to lead and care for us and guide us in the way of everlasting. And as you do you will continue to remember who you are in Christ.

In the book of James we learn to live out our True Faith not by avoiding trials but by walking through them. While trials may come, we are given the opportunity to ask God for wisdom, but we must ask in faith. The opposite of faith is unbelief and many of us are in a real fight with doubt. In the message, Pastor Nirup talks about our humility in this and that God honors the fight.
James is the brother of Jesus but he is a servant of God. He begins his book by reminding Christians that in this life we will have trials and we will suffer. But even in that God is good and through suffering we can experience the joy of Christ. Every trial has a purpose...and that purpose is to strengthen our faith and bring glory to God.
