Memeza Network in collaboration with Barena Creations met up with Kenyan Superstar Wambui_Katee, who is also a Mental Health Advocate and her host in Zimbabwe Chipo K. We had a interesting conversation with and about her. The highlight of our chat was when we asked her if she has kissed a Zimbabwean guy yet? Capturing youth voices on current affairs, during and post Covid 19 experiences. We talk about how the pandemic has affected us as the youth and measures we are taking to cope with the situation. We also talk about policy prescriptions on issues affecting our development aspirations.
The 2018 Zimbabwe Elections come in the wake of the fall of the "dictator" in Robert G. Mugabe and the death of Morgan R. Tsvangirai, claims of a New Dispensation by a once fired Vice President- Emerson Mnangagwa from Zanu-Pf and the emergence of an Heir in Nelson Chamisa from the allied Opposition Parties. In this Episode we look into the nature of corruption and illicit financial flows in electoral processes.

This week on our youth conversations, the team speaks about the ills of corruption and how corruption affects our society. Corruption has ravaged our society like unmitigated cancer, Mthokozisi Mabhena speaks about the effects of corruption and illicit financial flows on the criminal justice system and the car accidents. MaMlangeni speaks a lot about the how corruption ravages the health system and TA Nsukuzande speaks about how corruption affects the society as a whole and focuses on the local council, that is, the moral decay. This week is lively and engaging.

This week on our Youth Conversations, our usual hosts are joined by Nqobani Tshabangu from Transparency International and they talk about the challenges faced in combating corruption and why Zimbabwe has a poor Corruption Perception Index 22 out of 100 (0 being the most corrupt and 100 being the least corrupt). The team looks back from 1980 up to 2018 examining the dynamics of and influences of corruption since then – from land reform to warvet compensation fund and to the famous ED list. Nsukuzande asks thought provoking questions, MaMlangeni breaks it down for us, Mthokozisi Mabhena sticks to his usual model C English, and Nqobani Tshabangu weighs in as an expert in corruption and illicit and financial flows.
