1970s New York City: a period of financial crisis and urban ruin, yet also a time of vibrant and diverse scenes of experimental art, DIY and punk music, and lifestyle experimentation. DROP DEAD explores the influential and enduring cultural realm of 1970s and 1980s New York City and how that cultural realm was influenced and occasioned by the political and economic shifts of the time.Using interviews with scholars, artists, activists, and political figures, DROP DEAD combines urban studies, economics, and cultural studies to investigate the influence of politics, economics, and urban health on arts and culture.
