This is a message from Spring Session 2021 with Nicole Tobias.
We put Spring Session 2.0 together to answer the question, âWhat did we learn from the past year? What are we leaving behind and what are we taking with us as we seek to live with and become more like Christ?â
Discussion Questions:
Nicole was very honest about her past year, and some of the unhealthy, and ultimately
untrue thought patterns that it brought into her life- some old and some new. Have you
ever found yourself in a similar situation where you start to believe untrue things about
yourself?
story and states, âJesus is with you right in the thick of it. His heart breaks whenever your
heart breaks⌠It might feel like you are alone, but you are never alone.â Do you believe
this? How can we remind ourselves and others of this truth, even in really hard
circumstances?
we are children of God, created in his image, made to be in a relationship with Jesus.
What are some unhealthy or untrue thought patterns that you need to give to God? How
can we remind ourselves and others who we really are in Christ and how valuable and
important we are to Him?

and peace. Verse 37 reads, âThe Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the
paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.â Where did Davidâs
confidence and peace ultimately come from?
confidence and peace like David by striving to hear the Good Shepherdâs voice every day
and living life out in the pasture with him constantly and consistently. What are some
practical ways you can make this daily decision too? Are you willing to try new things and
maybe develop some new habits? What might be holding you back or standing in your
way?
relationship with the Good Shepherd. His confidence and peace came from knowing the
shepherdâs voice - take some time to read and reflect on his words, and consider what
they may mean for you. Are you willing to allow Jesus to lead you, not just in the ups and
downs, but in the everyday things of life? Are you willing to spend time with him daily so
you are prepared to face both joy and adversity with confidence and peace?

Discussion Questions:
able to spend more or less time with them? Have you made any new friends this year?
you can ask questions and grow in your faith with. Are you a part of a group or bible study
like the one he was describing? If so, has it helped as you strive to follow and be more
like Christ? If you are not a part of a similar group, would you be willing to join one?
Maybe even start one?

this past year? Were some of the ways good and healthy? Were any of them not? Be
honest with yourself and others as you talk and reflect.
Additionally, he pointed out that we have our own familyâs, and individual storms
happening simultaneously- this is new territory for most of us. What has this been like for
you? What has helped, and what hasnât?
us, if we were offered the entire year back, would say no because of the growth that you
made in your relationship with Christ?â How would you answer that question? Has it been
a year of growth? Setbacks and hardship? For most of us, itâs been a difficult mix of both.
and losses that we have faced in life. Have you learned any lessons this year that you
want to take with you?
take God with us because âGod is the only consistent thing that will always be there for
us.â Do you believe this? How has this past year made it harder or easier for you to
believe that God is always with us? What are some practical ways that we can learn from
the past, move forward with God, and in turn, strengthen our relationship with Jesus and
become more like Him?

Similarly, can you relate to Jasonâs story at all? Have you ever been in a tough situation
and realized that you were being weighed down or burdened with things you shouldnât
be carrying or didnât really even need in the first place?
God. Specifically, he recognized that he had been seeking affirmation from, and was
finding his own personal worth and value from others. When this was stripped away and
brought to light, he felt hollow and empty. He then asks us, âWhen some of the things that
previously brought you joy and purpose were stripped away, how did it make you feel?
Did God reveal anything to you during this time?â How would you respond to these
questions?
you used to be- so thank God for that.â Reflect on this. Have you taken any time to thank
God for the ways you have seen and experienced Him this year? Why or why not?

Spring Session was going to be a one-day event focused on introducing a handful of spiritual disciplines to help us grow in our relationships with Jesus. When everything shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we quickly pivoted Spring Session to a virtual format. This is a message from Spring Session 2020 with Mike Creamer.
