We've got a very special episode this week: "Heel" Dana Fowler is off, but former PTW Wrestling Podcast co-host Mike "The Wolverine" Pursell joins the show to take part in the inaugural PTW Draft! Mike, JJ and Pat each assemble their rosters in an 18-round draft.
The rules for the draft are as follows:
- The draft consists of a total of 18 rounds consisting of three picks each, one from each host.
- Draft choices include all active wrestlers in WWE and AEW who regularly compete.
- The pick order for each round has been randomized.
- Each host must choose two male wrestlers followed by one female wrestler, and repeat that pattern until the draft is complete.
- Tag teams that currently team up on television may be chosen with one draft pick, but factions cannot.

Recency bias is a thing, but when the dust settles and all is said and done, AEW All Out 2021 may go down as one of the best, most important wrestling pay-per-views of all time. Money in the Bank was this weekend, and besides limited capacity at WrestleMania 37, it was the first WWE pay-per-view event with a live audience since February 2020. Look. AEW Revolution was arguably the best PPV to come out of the Big Two US wrestling companies in a long time. It was 99% of a perfect show...until the final minute. Back in 2019, NJPW wrestler Hiroshi Tanahashi said he hoped to open the "forbidden door" connecting AEW with NJPW. As of this week's Dynamite, that door has been kicked down and lit on fire as KENTA attacked AEW wrestler and IWGP United States Champion Jon Moxley, furthering AEW's relationships with damn near every non-WWE wrestling promotion in the public eye. IT'S STING!!!!!
We were planning on talking about NXT TakeOver: WarGames this week, and we did, but AEW's "Winter is Coming" edition of Dynamite had us buzzing so much lifelong Sting mark Brendan Lee had to join us so we could spend most of the episode processing the AEW debut of The Icon and Kenny Omega beating Jon Moxley for the AEW World Championship and vowing to explain his actions on... IMPACT Wrestling?!

AEW Full Gear has come and gone, and mercifully, it was a much better show than All Out. It's a bittersweet week on the PTW wrestling podcast, as Mike "The Wolverine" Pursell has asked for and been granted his release. We thank him for his years of hot takes and wish him the best in his future endeavors.

We've reached the end of our PPV marathon, living through SummerSlam, Payback and now All Out over the course of three weeks. Unfortunately, for one of the first times since the promotion's inception, AEW's big show failed to live up to expectations, and even featured several scary moments that bring into question some of the company's decisions.
WWE isn't free of criticism this week, either, as Vince McMahon passed down a bizarre edict placing restrictions on Superstars' social media usage. At least SmackDown continues its run as must-see television.

Money in the Bank was a lot of fun, with two very unexpected briefcase winners in a crazy brawl up WWE's corporate headquarters. However, even more unexpected was Becky Lynch's surprise announcement the following night on Raw that she's pregnant, and thus handing over the Raw Women's Championship to Asuka.

This week marked 25 years of Triple H in WWE, so like WWE, we're taking a look back at the career of The Game: the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Being the Elite, the YouTube series that is partially responsible for the birth of All Elite Wrestling, hit a milestone 200th episode this week with the ultimate clash between Matt and Nick Jackson. Speaking of AEW, their rankings are out for this week, and they pose an interesting question for the AEW World Championship scene.
Over in WWE, however, there seems to be no concept of rankings or determining the #1 contender for titles -- whoever asks the champion for a title shot (sorry, "Championship Opportunity™") seems to get one. We take a look at the absurdity of Seth Rollins getting a WWE Championship match over Kevin Owens, and talk about how WWE could benefit from a ranking system.
Lastly, Big E took home the SmackDown Tag Team Championships for the New Day, who are now one title reign away from tying the Dudley Boyz for the all-time record. In a post-match interview, Big E proves that he's a national treasure.

The wrestling onslaught has intensified, as between WWE Super ShowDown, AEW Revolution and the upcoming WWE Elimination Chamber, we have three pay-per-view events in ten days. It's Halloween, so for this week's episode we decided to take a look back at one of WCW's most popular pay-per-view events, Halloween Havoc, and watch some of its more infamous matches: the 1991 Chamber of Horrors match, 1995's Hulk Hogan vs. The Giant in a Monster Truck Sumo Wrestling match, and 1998's WrestleMania VI rematch between Hulk Hogan and The Warrior.

WWE's brought the Wild Card Rule to a merciful end and had their anticipated Draft and...it was pretty much a mess from beginning to end. I don't know why we expected anything different. At least we'll always have NXT.
On the other side of the coin, AEW is firing on all cylinders, with two excellent episodes of Dynamite that continued to set up Full Gear.

AEW All Out is in the books, and while there wasn't any Best-in-the-World surprise, it was a great show that saw Chris Jericho walk out as the company's first-ever World Champion. Then, in a whirlwind story, he would legitimately get the title stolen from him (it would later be found).
On the WWE side of things, NXT UK TakeOver provided a match of the year candidate, Bayley shocked the world by eschewing the hug life for thug life as she (re?) aligned herself with Sasha Banks, and Bray Wyatt delivered the greatest episode of Firefly Funhouse yet.

After speculation last week, it's been made official this week: NXT is moving to the USA network, gaining an extra hour and being presented live starting in September. That means a WWE show will be going head to head with a wrestling product heavily influenced by a Rhodes on the TNT network. Sound familiar?

WWE has been making big moves to try to get themselves out of the rut they're in, including the shocking decision to bring Eric Bischoff and Paul Heyman in as Executive Directors of SmackDown and Raw respectively, reportedly to operate in a manner similarly to how Triple H presides over NXT. The Paul Heyman era began this week and it showed. While Bischoff's reign supposedly won't begin until after Extreme Rules, it does seem like WWE is taking steps to right the ship.
Why is WWE so worried? Oh yeah, a company called AEW ran their second major show, Fyter Fest, this weekend. While it was needlessly violent at times, it was another great show from the nascent promotion, and can only be seen as a good omen for things to come.

Despite a few production hiccups, Double or Nothing turned out to be the best introductory PPV wrestling fans could ask for. Not only did it feature fantastic wrestling from top to bottom, but Cody and Dustin put on the best match of their careers, The Young Bucks and Lucha Bros showed why tag team wrestling is better than ever, and Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho gave us a match for the ages. Oh, and who can forget the pop when Jon Moxley made his way through the crowd to show Jericho and Omega who the new player in town is.
Unfortunately, WWE didn't come out of this week on such a high note. Raw was downright terrible aside from a few memorable moments, and SmackDown, while good, couldn't outshine the buzz around its new competitor.

Another five day "weekend" of WWE wrestling is in the books, and while Royal Rumble was largely very predictable (yours truly correctly predicted every match except one), that's a very good thing. On this week's episode of Poor Taste Wrestling, we're breaking down the excellent NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool event, which featured some solid matches, the crowning of two new champions, and some genuine surprises in the form of Finn Balor and the debut of the Ring General, WALTER. NXT UK has sort of struggled to find its footing amongst the five brands of wrestling WWE pumps out on a weekly basis, but this event was worthy of the name TakeOver and should help put the nascent brand on the map.
On the main roster side of things, the biggest news this week was that Braun Strowman has been pulled from the Universal Championship match against Brock Lesnar at the Royal Rumble, and we ultimately found out later that night that Finn Balor will take his place. The WWE Women's Tag Team Championships were also finally officially unveiled, and we learned they will be decided next month at Elimination Chamber. However, the segment they were announced in was a little...weird.
Rounding out this week's wrestling discussion is more AEW talk, as Chris Jericho went into great detail on his podcast about the process of signing with AEW, and why he chose them over WWE.

The biggest news of the week in the world of pro wrestling is of course the official announcement of All Elite Wrestling, a new promotion spearheaded by Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks, and financially backed by the Khan family, billionaires who own the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars and the Premier Leagu's Fulham FC soccer team. The announcement came with the surprise appearances by PAC (f/k/a Neville) and Chris Jericho, who have signed to the promotion as well.
From there we go over results from NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 13, a show that largely lived up to our lofty expectations, featuring probably the final NJPW matches for the Young Bucks, Cody and Kenny Omega in light of the AEW news.
After that, it's back to our regularly scheduled WWE talk, including our thoughts on the first true week of the company's "fresh start" (spoiler: SmackDown was great, Raw not so much...so, nothing's really changed), and we look forward to a Royal Rumble card that is really shaping up to be something special.
