Its episode 6 of BossCast and the boys are in trouble again. Just a few short weeks after seeing off the fell-beasts, orcs and evil wizards of Middle-earth the team find themselves in Jurassic Park. How will they survive the dinosaur-packed island?

Here's the transcript, if you prefer to to have a visual jaunt through our journey instead of an audio one. But you should really check out the podcast, it's rather good.

Ryan: So it's that time again, it's time for another podcast. I'm Ryan.

James: I'm James.

Shaun: And I'm Shaun.

Ryan: And if you guys caught us for Episode Four, we did a how to survive in Middle Earth and continuing in that fashion we're gonna do another episode on how to survive, but in Jurassic Park, specifically, the first Jurassic Park, so that's the first movie. This is the premise, we are on Isla Nublar, are touring with the tour group you know, that's visiting the island,  the scientists and three dudes from a website. Yeah, three dudes from a website and the grandchildren. So we are in the infamous third car. The one you didn't see but are about to know about. So strap yourself in. You're in for a bumpy new ride. And we're gonna start off with dinobait James taking us away.

James: Right. Okay, so I, I guess the idea here is this is all going to start, this is all going to kick off when? Okay, I'm not gonna remember like I said, I'm gonna be terrible with names, who is the guy who screws them all over and tries to run away?

Shaun: Dennis Nedry

James: Dennis Nedry, that's the IT guy. So I'm just going to assume we're kicking this off when he takes everything offline. And we're all sat outside the T rex enclosure. As you remember we were and it's raining and everything goes to shit right and it got dark very quickly

Ryan: So yeah when, when everything goes bad then basically

James: So that's when we're kicking off so I guess the first thing is we're there and the T- Rex is coming out of the car so how are we going to survive the initial T-Rex attack because that is obviously, that's obviously one of the biggest perils of the entire experience right?

Ryan: Well I don't think we can fairly start with a T-Rex attacking us, that's not fair. I think outside the enclosure but you know how it kind of builds? Where's the goat and all that kind of stuff. So we're in there, looking around, what's going on, and we're in the third car so we are the furthest, we're in the third car of the three, we're at the back.

James: Are we wising up to this because the thing about in this film is they get taken by surprise by this T-Rex, right? They're not really ready for it. It just appears. Like in our third car, are we maybe a little bit more aware that things are going wrong that the T-Rex has eaten the goat.

Shaun: I don't think so. Because like, the middle car doesn't seem to know.

Ryan: Yeah, we're at the back. So you know in the film, the focus is on the T-Rex kind of finding the first car, isn't it? So with the kids in it, yeah. So surely we have the bird's eye view and we can just sit back and let it all unfold.

Shaun: Because it takes Grant and Malcolm ages to react and do anything

James: It does but they're not really looking out, they're just kind of sat there chillin' in the car not really paying much attention,

Ryan: But to be fair, that's exactly what we're doing.

James: Is that what we do though?

Shaun: Where are we sitting? I think I should be in the front and you two should be in the back squabbling.

James: Yeah, that sounds about right.

Ryan: I don't think I'll be able to see over the seat

James: So if, are we paying attention to like the enclosure? I feel like, I feel like I will be looking at the enclosure right. I feel like I'll be looking out for that T-Rex cos I'm not a cool, I'm not a cool like, okay. What are their names again?

Ryan: Well hang on, hang on, let, let, let, let's, let's take it back a step. So if you're looking at the enclosure, okay fair enough,

Halo Infinite Splitscreen, Free-to-Play And Trailer Thoughts + Failed Movie Franchises 

It’s that time again, time for another article that summarises the bi-weekly ramblings of four men who possess just about the bare minimum insight-level required to record a pop-culture podcast. 

In this week’s episode, we look at movie franchises that started brilliantly but buckled under pressure. We also cover the recent Halo Infinite trailer, chatting about the disappointment felt by Halo fans and what it could mean for the Halo franchise going forward. 

Halo Infinite Spitscreen, Free-to-Play, Free Roam And Trailer Chat

The Halo Infinite trailer received a mixed response. While some praised it for beautifully capturing the nostalgia of Halo, others decried its uninspiring gameplay reveal, disappointing graphics and lack-lustre return to the console it helped create.

You can probably guess which camp FinalBoss falls into. 

This BossCast episode sees the team cover the trailer for Halo Infinite and a discussion on the future of the title. We talk about:

The graphics, gameplay and free roam elements shown in the new Halo Infinite trailer The reveal that Halo Infinite will be free-to-play, and what that could mean for the series The potential Halo Infinite leak that means the game could have a battle royale mode The return of couch co-op gameplay to Halo Infinite.

In summary, the FinalBoss team were not blown away by the Halo Infinite trailer, and are expecting more than just a free roam Halo game or a Halo battle royale mode. We want something different, something that makes Halo Infinite stand out from other shooters as the Halo series always used to. 

The co-op Halo Infinite gameplay could be a simple but effective lifeline. In a world ruled by games with no local co-op modes, Halo Infinite might just bring us back to a style of gameplay we’ve long-since lost touch with.

Failed Movie Franchises 

There’s something immensely upsetting about getting invested in a movie franchise early on only to have it crash and burn when the final curtain is called. So much potential wasted. So much time lost to the screen. We want a strong start to end on a high note, but all-to-often, that note falls disturbingly flat. 

From studio inference to dirty cash-grabs, there are plenty of reasons why movies that begin on such stable ground find themselves struggling to stay upright. In this episode of the BossCast, we chat about failed franchises that started with such great hopes. These include:

Our main feature this week is our first round of 'How To Survive', this time Middle Earth. During the time of the war of the ring, what if we four humans were randomly dropped into the world of the Lord Of The Rings movies? How would we survive? Where's the best place in Middle Earth to go? Who would we befriend from the many races of Middle Earth? What do we need to do to live through the many battles taking placing throughout Middle Earth?

Xbox Games Showcase Preview

We discuss the Xbox games showcase which is happening on Thursday 23rd July and what games we would like to see. We start with Halo Infinite and chat about what a modern Halo game should look like. We then tie things in beautifully with the previous segment by looking at Lord Of The Rings: Gollum, before we move on to talk about the possibility of Fable 4. We then look at the future of Xbox Gamepass and Xbox Live. For some reason, we gloss over all the sports-based games that might feature and finish with a chat about Hellblade 2.

Yes, it's only the third episode of the BossCast and we're already breaking from the regular format for our first special edition! In these specials, we'll be taking a deep dive into one particular subject; first up it's Jaws! Noted FinalBoss shark experts James and Shaun are on board to voyage through the history and legacy of Steven Spielberg's 1975 blockbuster, which opened 45 years ago this month. What a coincidence.

The Movie

James and Shaun chat about why they love the movie, their favourite characters and scenes, what it did for the reputation of sharks and ponder what a 2020 version would be like.

The Novel

Shaun (read the book) runs through some of the major differences between the book and the film and gets James' (has not read the book) reaction to how different some storylines in the movie could have been. They also take a moment to look at the impact on the author Peter Benchley, who's attitude towards sharks changed upon the film's release.

The Sequels

Into the murky waters of the sequels we go. Shaun (seen them) runs through the major plot points and tries to answer James' awkward questions. How is Vaughan still mayor? Why would the Brody kids be anywhere near water again?

Other Shark Movies

Since the success of Jaws, there have been many imitations. Guess what? Shaun has seen several, James less. They talk Open Water, The Shallows and laugh at the increasingly ridiculous nature of the genre, Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus anyone?

Trivia

What Sucks this Week: The Zack Snyder Cut

After a huge fan campaign, Zack Snyder has been given the green light to produce his own version of the Justice League movie. After leaving the project before its official release, it has long been argued that Snyder’s original vision for the film never saw the light of day; much to the annoyance of fans. Promising a more enthralling version of the movie that disappointed so many, in 2021, this ‘Snyder Cut’ of the Justice League will be available on HBO Max. 

In the final segment of the BossCast, the team discuss expectations for the movie, why it’s a shame we ever needed it in the first place, and what our hopes are for its impact on the industry as a whole. We also cover the ‘Ayer Cut’ of Suicide Squad, a movement born from the Snyder Cut revolt.

What to Expect From The Mandalorian Season 2 The biggest talking point of FinalBoss Podcast Episode #1 is the return of the Mandalorian later this year, and what we're hoping to see when it finally gets to us. While most of the FinalBoss team enjoyed the first season of The Mandalorian, we all agree that we expect more from this season. In this chat we discuss pushing forward with some more Mandalorian lore, progressing the Baby Yoda plotline, and giving us a better sense of the Mandalorian as a character. Will Tenet's Delay Be The Death of Cinema Until 2021? Finally, we close off the podcast with a discussion on the recent news that Christopher Nolan's big new movie, Tenet, might be delayed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Since this delay will occur after the lockdown measures are relaxed and cinemas are reopened with social-distancing measures, concerns are that a push back of Tenet may destroy the confidence of other studios. We talk about the prospect of a year without any more new releases, if Tenet paves the way for all movies to be forced back into the new year.
