She is a Liberian-Nigerian American, born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island. She was inspired to create Roam Loud for two reasons. First, she wanted to unapologetically create a lifestyle where brown skin is at the forefront and not an afterthought. Second, her source of inspiration was Cynthia (Grey) Horton, her maternal grandmother. Her grandmother’s personality and legacy embodied the essence of roaming loud in the world. Roam Loud strives to provide a brand that supports that journey through premium pieces where brown skin is seen and celebrated.

She is making major strides in the billion dollar black haircare industry.

Today we have Pascale Sablan, FAIA, NOMA, LEED AP, Associate at Adjaye Associates, with over 13 years of experience, she has been on the team for a variety of mixed-use, commercial, cultural & residential projects around the world. Pascale is the 315th living African American woman registered architect in the United States. She is an activist architect who works to advance architecture for the betterment of society, bring visibility and voice to the issues concerning women and BIPOC designers. She founded the Beyond the Built Environment organization positioned to uniquely address the inequitable disparities in architecture. She was awarded the 2021 AIA Whitney M. Young. Jr Award for her advocacy efforts and ascended to the AIA College of Fellows, the youngest African American to reach that honor.
Pascale is sharing her career journey in architecture and career advice to individuals seeking to JUMP into the industry. Laneka found inspiration for the book in 2018 after she and her family traveled to Paris to celebrate her son Ehsan’s 1st birthday. Her vision for Ehsan Goes to Paris children’s travel book, is to change the narrative by telling stories from a multicultural perspective and ensuring traveling for Black, Indigenous children of color are represented in books as the main protagonist.
