It's really hard to blow a 42-17 lead with just 20 minutes left in a game, but the Roadrunners found a way to blow it. The explanation for the shocking letdown is simple -- UTSA fell victim to the same exact same issues that they haven't been able to address all season long. Injuries forced UTSA to play the young guns against FAU, and the underclassmen showed up in a big way. UTSA played their cleanest and most complete game of the season, but is is a sustainable improvement for the struggling team? Both UTSA and FAU come into this weekend contest with 2-4 records, as the two program's winning head coaches have struggled to get their team in the win column this season. The Owls are stingy on pass defense, and have a solid run game. We dive into the match up ahead of this Saturday's game in Episode 259.

The Rice Owls defeated the UTSA Roadrunners for the first time in a decade, as a miracle catch lifted the home team to victory in the final seconds. It was a gut punch, but honestly a fitting ending for a team that didn't deserve to win given their school-record 16 penalties. Even more concerning was the team's poor behavior after the loss, as the team escalated some taunting from a Rice player into a full-blown brawl.

UTSA welcomed Houston Christian to the Alamodome this past weekend and used the opportunity against an FCS opponent to sharpen their approach on both sides of the ball. While it wasn't a perfectly clean showing, the Roadrunners handled business and mostly looked good doing it as UTSA dominated in the trenches and created explosive plays.
Following the victory, rumors were buzzing that a move to the Pac 12 was imminent for the athletics program. That didn't come to be, as UTSA affirmed their commitment to the AAC alongside Memphis, Tulane, and USF. We talk about why that may likely end up being the right decision.
Lastly, we preview UTSA's upcoming road trip to face a very tough ECU team that looks a lot like UTSA this year. The Roadrunners are a slight underdog to the Pirates, a team that has blown three score leads in consecutive weeks. This is going to be a fun one, folks!

Best 56-7 loss ever? Yeah, Texas really was that good. But the Roadrunners played pretty well within their own abilities. The run game bounced back, the defense played tough up front, and the effort was better across the board. This loss could be a building block for better things if UTSA can flourish against Houston Christian this week.

UTSA pretty much never got off the bus in San Marcos, as the Bobcats pulverized the Roadrunners to earn their first ever win in the I-35 Showdown in convincing fashion. There's a lot of reflecting to be done after a loss this severe, and we syphon through all of it in a very long recap of a painful, embarrassing day in UFCU Stadium. No rest for the weary as UTSA will now travel a bit further up I-35 to face #2 UT-Austin and former Roadrunner Trey Moore.

The I-35 Showdown is back and the stakes have never been higher. The Bobcats are favored over UTSA to win a game against the Roadrunner for the first time. After two amazing consecutive regular seasons, UTSA once again finds itself on the cusp of a regional bid. The Roadrunners have very little cushion in terms of RPI, so a strong showing in the conference tournament is an absolute must lest the Roadrunners be left at home in yet another year.
Dan, Jared, and Adrian recap the Roadrunners' 2023 regular season before hopping into a preview of the conference tournament where UTSA seems to have had a favorable draw in terms of bracket seeding.

Our journey to provide coverage for each and every UTSA athletics program reached a big milestone today as we hosted our first-ever tennis podcast! Of course we needed a guest to guide us through this new world for us and UTSA Women's Tennis co-captain Keegan McCain was kind enough to come on the podcast to teach us all about collegiate tennis. Keegan is a senior at UTSA and will be staying on campus after graduation to pursue an MBA. The Roadrunners need a win to clinch their berth in the C-USA championship game, while the Owls are fighting for their first bowl bid since 2014. Stakes are high, but the forecasted temperature is low. Can the Roadrunners overcome the elements once again, or will a cold rainy day lead to another disappointment ala Denton 2021?

After blowing a 14 point lead in the fourth quarter UTSA still found a way to escape UAB in double overtime for the program's first-ever win in Birmingham. The Roadrunners used a surging run game bolstered by yet another brand new starting lineup for the offensive line. UTSA's big nasties helped Kevorian Barnes to another huge game as the redshirt freshman begins to blossom into a star.
The Roadrunners will return to the Alamodome this week to face a struggling Louisiana Tech team. While the Bulldogs haven't looked great this year, they are coming off their best performance of the year after forcing five turnovers against Middle Tennessee. Is there a lack of buzz around the season? We dive into specifics with some takes that might get us flamed on Twitter!
At the 15 minute mark we start diving into the surprises and notable additions to the depth chart. The Roadrunners had some young offensive linemen make the jump into the two deep, while the position battle at left tackle rages with a third competitor entering the fray.
After a quick cumbia break we're joined by Sam and Dustin from the Scott & Holman Podcast 35 minutes in to the pod. It's that time folks. The Triangle has re-assembled. Campus is bustling with activity again. Bottles of Fireball are flying off the shelf as the tailgaters finalize their preparations for the season opener. And of course, we're back in the saddle for another season of bi-weekly podcasts.
We start things off with some announcements and housekeeping, as Jared shares his reactions to his first visit to Taco Palenque. At 13:29 we begin discussing this year's version of the Triangle of Toughness. These players are voted into single digit jersey numbers by their peers and coaches, with the most respected players donning the 2-1-0 San Antonio area code jerseys.
After the cumbia break we begin breaking down the Roadrunners' schedule at the 31:15 mark. Like Adrian says, this season is really going to come in waves. UTSA's ability to weather the choppy waters will determine whether or not they'll be able to repeat as conference champions.

Nothing says "April" quite like paying taxes and watching the UTSA football spring game. One was a bit more enjoyable than the other for us this year. Jared and Adrian go position by position to identify some of the standouts and surprises of the spring game, as well as hone in on the areas which could use the most improvement with additions from the recruiting trail. It is finally time to preview UTSA's bowl opponent, the #19 Ragin' Cajuns of Lafayette. The Roadrunners will meet up with Billy Napier's squad in the First Responder Bowl on ABC.
