Brian Chontosh and Chriss Smith are two of the four members of the Shut up and Row team that completed the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. The Talisker Whisky Challenge is a race where teams row their boats 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean. Team Shut up and Row wound up finishing the journey in 33 days, 17 hours and 38 minutes an they also raised close to 500-thousand dollars for the Big Fish Foundation. We always love talking with people in the community who have incredible stories and Ali Turpie is one of those people.  Turpie trains at New Wave CrossFit in the UK.  In December of 2020, he suffered a stroke at the age of 28-years-old.  Turpie used his fitness, the support of his local CrossFit community and his desire to help others to get through the ensuing recovery.  This year he completed every workout in the Open as prescribed and qualified for quarterfinals.

James Sprague is looking to earn his first individual appearance at the CrossFit Games in 2022. Snorri Baron is one of the most influential on the CrossFit management landscape.  He works with several athletes including Roman Khrennikov and Sara Sigmundsdottir.  He has been working on Roman’s behalf to secure a Visa for the Russian athlete to get into the United States if he earns the right to compete at the CrossFit Games. A few weeks ago, Roman was granted that Visa. Snorri talks about the process they went through to get Roman’s Visa approved, what people can expect to see from Khrennikov if and when he gets to the Games and Sara Sigmundsdottir’s progress as she continues to work her way back from the knee injury she suffered last season. Kari Pearce made a surprise announcement this past weekend that she is retiring from competition following the Rogue Invitational.
