This one was fun, and sadly, the last one for a little while. The Russell House (the home of WUSC) is undergoing renovations starting next week, so we'll be off for a month or so. We spent most of this episode debuting new releases, but I also worked in a vinyl set and was visited again by DJ Oiseau. She left me without power for nearly a week, hence the late uploads.

This episode was pretty eventful. We started it with a tribute to a friend we lost in the local Goth scene :(, then moved on to discuss all the Gothy things happening in town this past weekend, including the big World Goth Day Dark Dance Night that I organized. This one was one of my faves of the year. The fundraiser shows allow us to temporarily suspend our non-Top 40 policy, so the reins came off and I was able to play loads of artists I normally wouldn't have been able to get away with. This one was a fun one, because I skipped my usual process of planning the show out from beginning to end. Instead, in the first hour, I just winged it and used that time to throw on some of my favorite Batcave and other retro tracks. In the second hour, we worked in another set from the new compilation from Darkness Calling, 'Back from the Grave - Vol 2'. Finally, we honored a request with a short set of German artists, and I ended the show with a rant about how confusing Season 2 of Loki was. I still have no idea what the hell that was about!

It was nice to be back after being off for a couple of weeks. With the exception of a few tracks here and there, the show was pretty much made up of entirely new releases. I was joined by a baby DJ in training, DJ Super Neo. In between sets, we discussed Stranger Things, Waffle House, and what hip-hop I should be listening to. It was fun to have a guest in, and I'll be looking forward to his own show when he gets one. I also discussed seeing The Mission, The Chameleons, and Theatre of Hate a couple of weeks ago, as well as my trip to Las Vegas last weekend. Dig it!
*Quick note: The fire alarm went off in the building as we were on air, so I had to fade out the last track and put the station in automation, as security asked us to leave the building. After it was all over, I came back in and hopped on the mic to explain what happened and wrap things up. In the final edit, I cut out all of the automated tracks, so apologies for the weird edit and abrupt ending to the show.

This one was interesting. We only had 3 sets in the show, but we packed a lot into them. First, we had one made up of new releases from all over the place. Then, we did our usual Words of Wisdom set, and finished strong with a set made up somewhat new releases from one of my favorite labels, Swiss Dark Nights.
Also, I basically caught a cold right before starting the show, and if you listen close, you can hear my voice deteriorate throughout the episode. The show aired on Saturday night, and by Munday morning, I was in bad shape and had completely lost my voice. As of this writing, it's Thursday. In the past week, I lost a day of work, went to the doctor, started antibiotics, and still haven't gotten over it. Hopefully, by this Saturday night, I'll have enough of a voice back to actually do the show, ha!

We collapsed that entire day's experiences into a two hour show. Oh, and best of all, we were joined by fan favorite mortician, and my bestie, DONNA PURGE! This one was a lot of dark fun. We had a couple of sets of brand new releases, most of which were from albums that only just dropped a couple of days ago. This one was super fun. For the first half, we had a good mix of classic stuff and brand new releases. And in the second half, we had a stellar Words of Wisdom set, a set made up entirely of artists from one of my favorite labels, Swiss Dark Nights, and we finished strong with some black metal. But best of all, I was joined by Emma, a really cool baby Dj in training, who was cool enough to hop on the mic and join in for the whole show. Can't wait to hear her show when she gets it soon. It was nice to be back on after taking a 3 week break, but that time was spent making some great memories. Here you go, kids. Part 2 of my long chat with Rocbottom Studios creator, Corey Davis, from right before Christmas. Part 1 was just the warm up. In this one, we get deep into the lore behind projects like Shadowclub Karma and Jet Boy, and talk about how those projects, and Rocbottom Studios itself, came about. We also discuss the importance of people of color in comics and animation, and geek out over some of our favorite '90's era comics creators. Check it out and get to know one of Columbia's heroes before he goes off and becomes a household name.

Here it is! The one we lead up to every year! The 2020 Halloween Show! Just like last year, we celebrated Halloween in 1980-something! It's a slight deviation from the regular format. This time, we're flipping around, watching movie trailers, commercials, and yes, listening to spooky tunes. Just imagine that you're on your couch, carving a pumpkin, waiting on the trick-or-treaters, and enjoying all the sights and sounds of Halloween in the mid-'80's. Oh, and because this was during our Fall Fundraiser week, the usual Top 40 restrictions were lifted, so I could play whatever I wanted. This is it! The one we wait for all year. The 2019 Halloween Show! In this one, we went back in time and relived Halloween 1985. Picture this: You wake up on 10/31/85, get a little breakfast, turn on the TV, and catch the morning show. You're ushered in to an entire day devoted to spooky delights. Everything from corny morning news anchors to holiday themed commercials, to daytime TV, prime time specials, and of course, the radio. You're flipping around all of it, getting a snippet here and there. And then, the sun goes down and things get really interesting.
So sit back, grab a handful of candy corn, light a candle, and let's do this. Because Halloween is whenever you want it to be. Enjoy!

This one was a fun one, folks. I've been wanting to do this one for a while. First, we started off discussing me seeing and meeting Kaelan Mikla on Friday night. Then, I got into the theme of the episode -- Tributes! And by that, I mean bands that were heavily influenced by other bands. The whole show consisted of me playing a band, and then playing one or two bands who were heavily influenced by them, to the point that it seriously shows in their sound.
