John tells describes three enemies to a healthy spiritual life: the world, the flesh, and the Devil. To fight against these enemies:
- Recognize the battle
- Fight from victory, not for victory
- Never give up

God is more concerned about people knowing their purpose, than them knowing the specifics of a plan. We are meant to be a people of love by:
- Being loved: wake up to your belovedness
- Giving love: commitment and sacrifice

We don’t lose our relationship with God when we sin—instead, we lose intimacy. But this intimacy can be restored when we:

Breathe out - confess our sins by acknowledging what they are and to begin taking steps to repent of them.

Breathe in - experience God's love and forgiveness by remembering Jesus' completed work on our behalf and his promises.

Two traps we can fall into when we think about using our gifts:

When we don't know what our gifts are, we can become paralyzed in doing anything.

Objection 1: Claiming that Jesus is the only way to God is arrogant.
a. All religious and moral viewpoints end up being exclusive.
b. Jesus provides the most inclusive exclusivity in history.
Objection 2: All religions are equally valid and basically teach the same things.
a. What makes Jesus unique can be summarized with one word: GRACE.
b. Once we understand grace, faith is no longer spelled D-O. It's spelled D-O-N-E.
