Just a week into the Paris 2024 Olympics and the world is already buzzing about several controversies, most notably the Opening Ceremony. While it was said to be a celebration of diversity and inclusivity, many feel it made a mockery of the Christian faith with its provocative depiction of Da Vinci's Last Supper. This has prompted many to question the Olympic committee's agenda, and sadly, has highlighted a divide among believers regarding whether or not we should be offended or even surprised by paganistic practices.

Each year, from April 7th to July 4th, marks 100 days of mourning, commemorating the nearly 1 million people who were killed during this short period in 1994. AC PODCAST The Surprising Demise of AtheismThe Four Horsemen of the New Atheists: Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, and Daniel Dennett, have faded from the cultural spotlight they once attracted. The New Atheists are now the Old Atheists. In fact, only two of the four are still alive. The questions they once raised still linger faintly but cultural conversations have shifted dramatically. Instead of asking, "Does God exist?" there are now an array of books and personalities asking and answering questions of sex, gender, and race, to name but a few. We have new questions and new influencers that now dominate the conversation in the academy and households. Yet, as it turns out, the Old Atheists are not as irrelevant as one might think. On the AC podcast this week Andy, Steve, and Wes discuss how this current cultural moment is, in part, a product of their making and what we can learn from it moving forward.

In addition to representing TWU at the GP Summit, Rea, Marko, and Jeremy were selected to attend as leaders at the conference. Only 11 people worldwide were accepted for a leadership role from 350 applicants. Listen to this week's episode to hear a story of hope, prayer, and representing Jesus on the global stage.

AC PODCASTOut of the Ashes: Uncovering History with A.I.Buried, burnt, and bygone. An entire library of ancient scrolls was buried under the ash and lava of Mt. Vesuvius in the city of Herculaneum, a Roman village less than 20km from the famous city of Pompei. But with some amazing new technology, these scrolls are being unrolled (digitally at least) and we can peer through the charred ash and carbon to read them for the first time in nearly 2000 years. Melanie has watched the impossible unfold before her eyes, as God has moved in the lives of the people around her.
From her work and personal experience, Melanie has discovered a common thread of the misrepresentation of God among society as a whole. Many people struggle with understanding who God is, which leads them to resent Him and those that identify as Christians. This realization catapulted Melanie into ministry, with the intention of empowering burnt out Christians to rekindle their faith. When we wear the label of Christian, we represent the God we serve – we are responsible for representing Him well.
Melanie is currently writing a Christian non-fiction book, facilitating a women’s weekly Bible Study, hosting a monthly Ladies’ Night, serving at church as a greeter, on the Women’s Ministry Leadership Team and as a table leader for the Questioning Christianity course. She is also a volunteer with Search and Rescue as a Team Leader, Swiftwater Rescue Technician, Boat Operator, and Lead Ground Search and Rescue Instructor.
Melanie starts every morning with a cup of coffee and the word of God, setting her feet on His foundation and preparing her heart for the day. As a wife and mom of two children, she enjoys exploring God's creation with her kids, by hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, and camping as a family.

He is currently completing his Master’s degree in Christian Apologetics at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University, Southern California.
Having lived, worked and ministered in three different countries on three respective continents, he testifies to the transformative power of, and universal need for the Gospel of Jesus. By presenting evidence for the moral, logical, historical, and scientific coherence of the Christian worldview, he aims to help the fellow believer to love the Lord God with all his mind (Mk 12:30), as well as address barriers to belief faced by the skeptic.

Born and raised in Calgary, AB, Alanzo Julian Paul became a Christian in 2009 after wrestling with drug addiction (opiates) for over a decade.
Before full-time ministry Alanzo worked in the Oil & Gas sector. He held a corporate position for several years before entering the e-commerce world. In what was Alanzo’s first private sector venture as an entrepreneur, he and his wife founded a men’s grooming brand. Concurrently, Alanzo has always been particularly passionate about engaging with student’s questions about God. For over a decade he has spoken to crowds of youth around the world and mentored many over the years.
When Alanzo entered into full-time apologetics ministry in Oxford, he focused on speaking about the big questions of life like the existence of God, meaning, suffering/evil, and much more. Over the years he has spoken at prison, churches, universities, and schools all over Canada, the United Kingdom, and continental Europe.
Alanzo has a deep love of the arts. From childhood he has had a love for poetry. After his conversion to Christianity, he wrote a book of poetry called “An Ethereal Walk with God”. Alanzo is likewise passionate about cinema. He has done background acting in nearly a dozen films/T.V. shows and can be found on both Netflix and Apple T.V. (iTunes).
Alanzo has a degree in theology (BTh.) from the University of Oxford and is currently working on his MA in theology at the University of Toronto. He now lives in British Columbia with his wife Khadija.

For many years, he served as CEO of the group’s core investment management business.

Ewan is Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. He earned his MD at the University of British Columbia and a PhD in Physiology at the University of Toronto. He trained in internal medicine and critical care medicine.
His research program studies lung function and respiratory muscle function in patients with acute respiratory failure, and he is heavily involved in clinical trials testing new treatments for respiratory failure. He is author or co-author of more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. His research has been published in a leading scientific journals in medicine and in his subspecialty of intensive care medicine.
He is involved in efforts to advocate against the practice of euthanasia (also known as medical aid-in-dying) and for the protection of conscience in healthcare. He writes and speaks on these issues for both academic and lay audiences.
When not writing, analyzing data, or looking after patients, Ewan is likely to be found sailing on Georgian Bay, Ontario. He and his wife Rachel have four children and one dog and live in Toronto. He attends Christ Church Toronto.

Speaker RequestLogan GatesCHRISTIAN APOLOGISTLogan is a PhD student in Political Theory at the University of Toronto. His research and teaching is in the history of Western political thought, from Plato to Nietzsche, with a focus on the legacy of Christianity in shaping modern political ideas, such as human rights.
Logan has a heart for people to encounter God for themselves by exploring tough questions about the Christian faith. He has spoken at universities and churches in North and South America on topics such as "Is God against our freedom?," "Why would a loving God judge me?," and "Is Christianity exclusive?"
Logan holds a BA from the University of Virginia, an MTh from the University of Oxford, and is a graduate of OCCA The Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics.
He speaks English, Spanish and French, and lives in Kitchener, ON with his lovely wife Samantha, where he likes to drink tea and go running—rain, shine, or snow!

He is an effective communicator both in and out of the classroom. His humorous, down-to-earth manner appeals to a wide variety of people. Drawing from the media and using a professional power point presentation, his seminars are both interesting and relevant. Dr. Chamberlain has appeared on numerous radio and television talk shows, debated on university campuses, and is a frequent guest speaker at public functions. He is the author of five books: Can We be Good Without God, Final Wishes, How To Talk About Good and Bad Without Getting Ugly: A Guide to Moral Persuasion, Why People Don’t Believe: Confronting Seven Challenges to Christian Faith, and Why People Stop Believing, as well as a number of articles addressing current social and moral issues. He is also the coeditor of Everyday Apologetics. He enjoys outdoor activities such as riding motorcycle, swimming, camping, and doing most anything outside with his family.

Speaker RequestAndy Bannister, PhDDIRECTORSolas Centre for Public ChristianityAndy is the Director of the Solas Centre for Public Christianity and is an experienced international speaker. He has authored many books and other resources.
Andy holds a PhD in Islamic studies and has taught extensively at universities across Canada, the USA, the UK and further afield on both Islam and philosophy. He is also an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Arthur Jeffery Centre for the Study of Islam at Melbourne School of Theology and is also Adjunct Faculty at Wycliffe College, University of Toronto.
He is also a co-presenter of Pod of the Gaps, a popular podcast that combines theology, culture and humour, and aims to help Christians explore the challenges (and opportunities!) of living in the 21st century.
When not travelling, speaking, or writing, Andy is a keen hiker, mountain climber and photographer. He is married to Astrid and they have two children, Caitriona and Christopher.

We, however, may not see just how prevalent it is around us, especially among the youth. Their homelessness is sometimes hidden behind their dirty clothes that we too easily chuck up to laziness. One man who comes from a broken home saw the need and responded. Listen to Andy's interview with Les Talvio, the founder and Executive Director of Cyrus Centre, to hear about how his own upbringing in a broken home opened his eyes to the needs of the homeless youth, and the kind of impact the Cyrus Centre is making.

It’s coming to the point where Canada is becoming extreme in her eagerness to offer death as an option to those who are suffering, tempered only by—at least, in theory—respect for the patient’s autonomy. Coming off the back of a large environmental meeting called the World Economic Forum, the symbol of man made catastrophe, the "Doomsday clock has been ticking down the seconds to nuclear apocalypse for three-quarters of a century. It has since been set backward eight times and forward 17 times for a total of 25, the farthest from midnight being 17 minutes in 1991, and the nearest being 90 seconds, set on January 24, 2023. As of 2007, what added to list of criteria for the changing of the clock include environmentalism. Listen as Andy, Steve and Troy discuss the concerning similarities between Christian and Secular worldviews regarding "the end of the days."
