We are back with our sixth installment of the Writers' Room! If there's one thing we can't stand in teen television is the absence or complete lack of parental figures. We're all about independence, but somebody's gotta be paying these bills. This week we picked some mamas, papas, meemaws, and peepaws to keep our Vermontonian youth in line. As per usual, we had to incorporate our signature generators to get the creativity train chugging along. We generated names, occupations, education levels, and general relationships. We want to like him so bad . . . but we don't . . . know him? If you've been following the pod for a while, you might know that we have some pretty unpopular opinions of Shawn Mendes. NEVER HATE. Just . . . strong criticism. We really want to see him step out of the box he's in and take more risks. This brings us to this week's episode. The second we heard Shawn was getting his own Netflix music documentary, we added it to the monthly line up in hopes that seeing him unfiltered and behind the scenes would give us a better perspective on who this Canadian crooner really is. We're not so sure this documentary delivered. There are tons of instrumental B-roll scenes and motivational Mendes moments, but little substance. Nothing a few interviews couldn't have fixed. This week on the pod, we're honoring our three-year tradition of releasing a prompt-filled Thanksgiving-themed episode. You can’t have it either.” We LOVE when our spooky ooky mystery series get cancelled after one season. So many questions unanswered, so many plots unexplored. Guess we'll just have to browse the threads. This week we watched the short-lived adaptation of Stephen King's The Mist via Netflix, and it was a ride . . . through Maine in a military-grade Jeep.
