Hello and welcome back to the Retail Wrap-Up for 2024 - retail’s favourite podcast!

On today's episode, we're delighted to welcome Katia Santilli and Vera Yan, the Co-Founders of Australia's own activewear label, Nimble Activewear.

Having met in year 8 at school, Katia and Vera were inseparable – bonding over their love of R’n’B and aerobics, it’s no wonder that years later they went on to create a business centred around movement.
Despite pursuing vastly different career paths from one and other after school, and living in separate locations for some time, Vera and Katia eventually found themselves back in Sydney, where they birthed the idea of Nimble Activewear.

Inspired by their shared passion and intuition, they conceived the vision to create high-quality activewear that felt exceptional, which empowered individuals to feel stronger, happier, and healthier. - How COVID affected their business and how they managed these changes effectively
- How they work through setbacks as a team and utilise important feedback from their customers
- Why being sustainable is so important to the brand’s DNA and the launch of their Recycled Edit
- Which businesses or brands they draw inspiration from
- Their move to physical retail, their store network expansion, and where they’re hoping to land next

Lottie is not your average entrepreneur. She didn't just dip her toe into the sustainability pond – she cannonballed right in! Welcome back to the RetailOasis 'Retail Wrap-Up Podcast' - the podcast for retailers. Coming up on today’s episode we are joined by Hannah Daykin and Annabel Humphrey, the Founders of Pursuit The Label, a London-born sustainable swimwear brand that beautifully combines fashion and purpose.

Hannah and Annabel launched Pursuit The Label after recognising the lack of sustainable yet fashionable swimwear options in the market. Their mission to inject sustainability into fashion led them to create each swimsuit using ECONYL®, a yarn made from regenerated fishing nets and consumer waste from both land and sea. It's a brand that not only embraces style but also takes a strong stance against marine pollution.

Throughout our conversation, we'll delve into the remarkable journey of Pursuit The Label and how the company has evolved since its inception. We'll hear about their biggest "pinch me" moments, from being featured in Vogue and Sports Illustrated to seeing influential celebrities donning their swimwear.

One of the key aspects of Pursuit The Label's success lies in their commitment to sustainability. We'll learn more about the innovative fibre, ECONYL®, that forms the foundation of their swimwear range and how they ensure it maintains its luxury quality while being eco-friendly. Additionally, we'll discuss the misconception that sustainable fashion is expensive and explore how Pursuit The Label addresses this view.

The founders' decision to design and produce the collection in London showcases their dedication to quality and craftsmanship. We'll explore the reasons behind this choice, uncovering both the benefits and downsides of being UK-made.

Reflecting on their early days in 2017, Hannah and Annabel will share valuable insights into what they would have done differently and offer advice to aspiring entrepreneurs who are building their own start-ups. We'll also discover how Pursuit The Label incorporates their empowering and confidence-driven brand identity into their product designs and marketing strategies.

And finally, we'll take a visionary leap into the future of retail. With our guests' unique perspective, we'll explore what lies ahead in the next 5 to 10 years and how Pursuit The Label envisions the retail landscape evolving.

In this episode we talk to Sabrina Noorani, who is the CEO and Founder of ClearForMe. ClearForMe is an independent cloud-based platform enabling beauty brands and retailers to seamlessly bring ingredient clarity to shoppers. This is a platform that is being used by both Credo Beauty + Ulta Beauty in the US. Even if you're not in the beauty industry this episode speaks to a broader conversation happening within culture at the moment around transparency, responsibility and sustainability. As we become more aware of our health and wellbeing, we start to question the ingredients in the products we use. As an FYI for those who are less familiar with the cosmetics industry, if you look at the ingredient listed on a product, first of all most of them will be unrecognisable and secondly, there can be up to 30 or more ways to describe the same ingredient. This is important because what we forget is that our skin is the largest organ in or on our body and the potential health impact that applying skincare or makeup can have on our health and wellbeing.

Enjoy this conversation! We hope it sparks some new ideas.
