Episode 110 comes with one of my most anticipated guests, Kevin Lynum Sr. I've heard his name mentioned in many conversations throughout the years, so I decided to go to the man himself and hear his story from his viewpoint. First question I had to get the big one out of the way and clear up the confusion: how many kids does he have?👀 I was blown away by his answer😬😆 Then even more blown away when he told me how many his dad had!!! One thing I will say, this man was genuine and kept it real. He admitted to many of his faults and mistakes in life but he is determined to continue to try and rise above it all. That's all you can ask from a man. There was a moment when he was choked up when asked about losing his son a few years back, that's the one that humbled me. I left this interview with a real respect for bruh. This platform was created for imperfect dads like him, this is a space that's for us.

I pulled up to Jacksonville, Florida for yet another episode. I haven't saw my boy since high school days so when he called me a few weeks back I knew I had to pull up on him. I respect his story because he was real about his fatherhood journey. He explained how for years he wasn't the best dad and wasn't there for his daughter, but he now has realized that he has some time to make up for. Through all of his struggles he is continuing to make the effort to be better daily. He is currently a quadriplegic but is not allowing that to stop him from being at his best. His story is one that should inspire and push us all.

My first 2-time guest had to come back and update us on his past 3yrs! It's been exactly 100 episodes since he was last on the podcast. He didn't disappoint. I was inspired as always by his perseverance to push through the rough patches of life. We spoke about private school vs public school, social media influence on kids, him gaining full custody of his children, and many other things. Due to camera issues, the video was cut at the end. But we got the bulk of our conversation done before then. Hope this convo inspires us all to continue pushing to be our best as parents.

If I had to choose a favorite episode, this one might have to be at the top. I say that because I know bruh isn't one to talk as much, but in this interview he really opened up about his life. Let me say this, I know I just received father of the year for the region, but my vote might go to this guy! As I sat and listened to this man's story, I couldn't help but be motivated to do better. He has four children, has custody of 3 of them, has 4 degrees, had 4 kids before he was 21, owns multiple homes, and is truly living life. I'm sure many people wrote him off in his early fatherhood days, but to see where he is today is truly remarkable. He has changed the narrative for real! I finally made some time to sit with my man Coach Ken. He is a coach at the Rock School and was a teacher to my children for 2yrs. I've always seen him being a standup man and dad so it was only right to sit with him and hear his story. We spoke about his upbringing, the effects of fatherlessness, opening his home up to others, and the importance of downtime.

I've been needing to have this sit-down with my kids for a while. It's always a good thing to sit down and get an understanding with your children. You'll find out many things about them and yourself. Plus, your kids will feel more comfortable talking with you and knowing that their voices are heard. It's not about being right or wrong, it's about getting an understanding. So that's what we did. Of course, Nana dropped out the convo early😂

I received an email a few weeks back from Jake's assistant saying that he had been following the podcast and would love to be a guest on the show. Being that he is way out in Utah, we set it up to meet virtually. As always, we got pretty deep about this thing called fatherhood. We discussed topics such as work/life balance, postpartum depression with dads, marriage, and living life without compromise. Jake also is the host of Tenaciously Human Podcast. Episode 81 had me talking fatherhood with a dad hailing all the way from England, UK. It's crazy because even though he is way over in the eastern hemisphere, we still deal with some of the same challenges as dads. He kept it real concerning not having a relationship with his dad, his struggle to balance life and work, and many other things. This was one of those convos that could have easily continued for many hours (y'all know I like to talk)😂. We had so many things in common.

Another milestone set, episode 80! 20 away from 100! I reached out to a brother way out in Tulsa, OK on Instagram for this episode. He is a professional life coach who has worked with the likes of Toby Keith, Bernice King, and Myles Monroe. He is also an Emmy Award winning film producer. For 2hrs I sat back and soaked in much wisdom from him concerning life principles including the importance of meditation, Black Wall Street, giving yourself grace, growing up as a pastor's kid, and allowing our kids to talk through their problems.

We recorded episode 79 outside of a coffee shop in downtown Gainesville, so excuse the extra sounds in the background. But this was my 2nd episode that features both son and father. I met these two at the Muck City Music Showcase a few weeks back. We noticed the dad standing at the front of the stage really turning up for his son and I thought it was an interesting dynamic. So it was only right that I got together with both of them to chop it up about family and fatherhood.

Listen, I used to give my man pure hell every morning for no reason😅 He used to always tell me I needed to grow up. Thankfully I did. It was only right that I had bruh on as a guest and he came with wisdom. I learned a lot in this one. He has 21 years of experience in this dad game so I was all ears.

They believe that dads play a critical role in the development of their daughters. So of course, with me having two daughters, I wanted to know more.

We talked about how dads fuel their daughter's confidence, how to combat the pressure of perfection, girls and social media, beauty standards, and dads assessing their children's confidence.

First episode of 2022 was a heavy hitter! I brought on my man Gabriel, some might know him as Byron, Lewis of the Berean Council and Gainesville Reichert House. This one was easy, I asked the questions and bruh really took off. We tackled topics such as trauma in the black community, him and his wife going into marriage as virgins, growing up as a military brat and pastor's kid, and the effects of over exposure to media. This one is a must listen.

The last time I did an episode that was focused on me was in April 2020. I wanted to give my listeners and supporters the opportunity to know more about me and where I am at this current juncture of my life. Fresh off my bachelor degree graduation, I sat down with my homie Yaakov Melech Bey aka J King and we got it in for a quick second. Hopefully after listening, my supporters will understand more about who I am and things that I go through. I am by no means a perfect father, husband, or man but everyday I'm out here trying to be better. So I am thankful for those that encourage me and keep me uplifted.

In this episode I tried a different format, so I didn't just sit with a father, I sat with a father and his two sons. These two young men watched and listened to their father's story, and had the opportunity to give their dad a few pointers on how he could be an even better dad! This dad is one who's constantly misunderstood because of his claims on the nationality of "black" people being Israelites. But he continues to be upstanding and is changing the narrative of black fatherhood in his lineage. Take a listen to the heart of a real dad!
