We are delighted to have Cheryl Rogers as our guest leader this Sunday in our CUC Class. This will be something special it seems, as the piano is being moved to the front of the room. As Cheryl describes her program….“It will be a little bit of a potpourri of some music/comedy but also a short talk on building spiritual muscle memory and keeping our eyes focused on Jesus”.
Mark Goodwin will be teaching the CUC class for the next 3 Sundays. His topic and scripture for this Sunday is “Worship: The Antidote for Self-importance”, Revelation 5:9-14
Bill Floyd is our CUC Speaker on Sunday (November 15, 2020). Bill is the Associate Pastor of Congregational Care. The title of his lesson is “Don’t overload your wagon”. His scripture is:
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? June 13, 2021 - Jeff Ross is our speaker this week. His topic will be “The Battle for David’s Legacy”. His lesson will be based on 1st Kings and 1st Chronicles.
The Temple of God
Dave Mueller will be leading our CUC Class this Sunday with the second part part of a series. The title he’ll use is “The Temple of God”. The scripture will be
Verse:
1 Cor. 6: 19-20. “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own: you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”
Serenity in Troubled Times
Allen Kennedy will be the CUC speaker - The title of his lesson will be “Serenity in Troubled Times”. CUC is fortunate to have such excellent guest speakers.
CUC is Coming Back to RUMC !
Our own Tom Knight is our CUC speaker this Sunday. Tom always brings us a well-prepared and thought-out lesson. His topic title is “A Message to the Hebrews: the New Covenant!”. The scripture for the lesson is

Mark Goodwin has our lesson October 4. His title is “How should Christians respond to the upcoming elections?” Mark always gives a very thought-provoking message with a strong Christian background. His scripture is from Philippians 1:27:

CUC is blessed with great speakers who present the most interesting lessons. Bob Fletcher has our lesson again on Sunday. He will conclude his series on Revelation. His scripture is Revelation 21:4... ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Jim McCormick** has our CUC lesson Sunday. We are delighted to have him back! Back in March he started our Lenten Series, then the pandemic
hit. He still had three lessons to present and will cover the last of them this week. This Sunday he will present “Jesus, the Man of Sorrows". The scripture is Isaiah 53:3-5 3.
He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. 4. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. 5. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Joe McKechnie has the lesson Sunday. His wife, Catherine, will be with him. This will be an opportunity for the class to bid them both farewell.

Wayback Wednesday
A lesson from March 30, 2014 - Paul Beecham, MD, will lead us in a devotion using Biblical references.
He will also be discussing a wide range of experiences and medical situations about heart disease, as well as a few suggestions that will hopefully be of value to us in the prevention of heart disease. He plans to help us to understand how to recognize a heart attack and how to respond.
Rev. Scott Parrish, Associate Director for Congregational Excellence of the North Georgia Conference, brings our message Sunday. His lesson is “God’s Kingdom: In Mission Together”

Scott Dickson has our lesson for Sunday February 16, 2020; His topic: Protocols and Proposed Legislation for General Conference 2020.
After years of heartfelt conflict and sincere disagreement, leaders from all of the major constituencies of the United Methodist Church have come together, along with a world-renowned mediator, to try to craft a new way forward.
Unlike previous efforts, this way forward is a path of amicable and respectful separation in our disagreement. Out of this group has come a set of legislation that is receiving wide-spread support in advance of the upcoming General Conference 2020 in May. While not yet any kind of action or foregone conclusion, it is important to understand the proposals that are going to be at the forefront of discussions for us as United Methodists.

A Salute to CUC Veterans
November 10 is the birthday of the Marine Corps and November 11 is Veterans Day, so in our CUC class it is planned to have a tribute to retired military class members who will share their stories.
