It would be nice to start using other/additional feedstocks for biofuels. But it an't that easy...
The government could decide to eliminate or reduce the requirements in the RFS2. If you're a company that's invested (or will invest) hundreds of milllions of dollars in biofuels, isn't that a lot of risk?
EPA is no hurry to announce the 2014 biofuel volume requirements. Isn't it almost 2015?
The EPA has yet to issue the 2014 RFS mandated amounts of biofuels. The Iowa Governor says the uncertainty is causing farmers to not buy new machinery. Really? Is this something else driving this?

This is an experiment - I'm podcasting each week to go along with my new class "Biorenewable Systems." It's a jr/sr level class at Iowa State University (Technology Systems Management 326X) that is meant to be an in-depth introduction to biorenewables and the emerging bioeconomy. From global warming to gasifiers, from ethanol to energy, from transportation to tax breaks, we want to introduce it all. Should be fun!
