Founded in 2010, Graminy seeks to fuse the classical and grassroots tradi- tions, from Bach to bluegrass, from Co- pland to Celtic, from Gershwin to native American, from Kodaly to klezmer, and more. Drawing on all these styles, Graminy composes and arranges all its music and calls it Class-Grass.
Graminy’s music focuses on themes of ecology and place. The name derives from the botanical name for the grass family, Gramineae, as their music draws on the entire family of grassroots tradi- tions, from all places and ecologies.
Their new CD, “Germinations: A Blue- grass Symphony in D” has been nominated for awards in several categories at this year’s MAMA Awards (Madison Area Music Awards).

Eleanor Mayerfeld is the 2011 Frontenac Old Time Music Fiddle Champion, the youngest winner ever. Formerly a member of Sonora Strings, the touring violin ensemble of Suzuki Strings of Madison, Eleanor has toured with them in Puerto Rico, Door County, and California. Currently a member of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Mike has played in many groups, most notably the Barn Owl Band, with whom he recorded three albums and appeared on the National Public Radio Show A Prairie Home Companion. Mike is a composer and his folk tunes have been recorded by many folk artists.

The UW Russian Folk Orchestra, now in its 15th season, is a unique ensemble performing Russian and other East-European folk music on authentic Russian instruments, balalaikas and domras. The orchestra was founded and is directed by Victor Gorodinsky. The RFO is made up of two groups of authentic Russian stringed instruments: balalaikas and domras, it uses accordions, bayans (button accordions), as well as various woodwind and percussion instruments.

Yuriy Kolosovskiy was born in Rostov-on-Don Russia and started playing the Prima Domra at age 9. He spent 6 years in public music school after which he attended Rostov State College of Music (from 2000-2004) studying music composition, conducting and orchestration. While in College, he received numerous awards for his outstanding talent and technique. After Graduation, Kolosovskiy had the honor of being a soloist in the Rostov State Folk Philharmonic Orchestra with whom he played for two and a half years. In 2006, he moved to Madison, Wisconsin where he now resides. Since moving here, Kolosovskiy has played with the University of Wisconsin Russian Folk Orchestra where his talent has been showcased (most recently in the piece "Woolen Boots" this last season). He has also a member of the Balalaika and Domra Association of America (BDAA) since 2007 and has performed in various venues around the Madison area, including numerous Russian folk festivals. He has just finished recording his first solo CD "Sounds of the Domra".

Widely recognized as one of Madison's (and Wisconsin's) best guitarists, Masino has played with dozens of bands from the midwest and is featured on the Gregg Clemons LP on Nemperor CBS Records (1980). Peter Roller has been exploring guitar styles in a variety of cultural directions since discovering music like the blues of Mississippi Fred McDowell and the Bluegrass of Flatt & Scruggs as a teen. Over the past thirty years, while working as a professional musician and college instructor, he has written a body of guitar-led original music that leans variously towards Hawaiian slack key, bossa nova, Piedmont blues and steel guitar jazz. Roller is releasing his first full length CD of such pieces in Spring 2010, including his Dobro instrumental Rancho Mirage, the only work previously available on the widely popular Narada compilation Masters of Acoustic Guitar.
Roller is based in Milwaukee and teaches in the Music Department at Alverno College. He has played and recorded with area performers--bluesman, Steve Cohen, worldbeat band, Paul Cebar & the Milwaukeeans and gospel quartet, the Masonic Wonders. Previously, Roller was the guitar accompanist for first generation country bluesman, Yank Rachell, acting as producer and playing on his Bling Pig release Blues Mandolin Man.

Having already performed with seasoned veterans and jazz legends Willie Pickens, Rodney Whitaker, Benny Golson, and Jimmy Heath, Patrick is stepping away from his role as a sideman and embracing his role as a bandleader.
An equally gifted saxophonist and composer Patrick is the recipient of numerous awards. In 2009 he was voted Outstanding Musician of the Elmhurst jazz Festival and his original composition 6 Here 12 There won the 2008 Signature Songwriters Competition. Four of Patrick’s original compositions, including 6 Here 12 There, are featured on his debut album “Invitation”.
Having recently recorded his debut album, Invitation, Patrick Terbrack is hard at work touring and performing all over the United States with either his quintet featuring some of Chicago’s best musicians or with the NY based band the Delisfort Project.

CopperBox is an outstanding band out of Oshkosh. They won the 2009 WAMI "Americana" category (which means "hard to classify"). They tag themselves as zydeco/rock/polka but that doesn't cover it all. Their polka version of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd is just one example of how eclectic they are. They also do cumbia, jigs, ballads, etc. Some of their best tunes are ones they wrote, but they do some great covers, ranging from Moondance to Tell Me That You Love Me (to give you some idea of their range).

CopperBox is an outstanding band out of Oshkosh. They won the 2009 WAMI "Americana" category (which means "hard to classify"). They tag themselves as zydeco/rock/polka but that doesn't cover it all. Their polka version of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd is just one example of how eclectic they are. They also do cumbia, jigs, ballads, etc. Some of their best tunes are ones they wrote, but they do some great covers, ranging from Moondance to Tell Me That You Love Me (to give you some idea of their range).
Their latest CD, In the Summertime, was released on July 8th, 2009, and channels the rowdy communal feel of a small town party with a groovy rhythm section and soulful accordion. CopperBox has a fun-fusion sound (Zydeco, rock, and jazz) that attracts a unique and diverse audience. Touring aggressively and playing 120+ shows a year, they have appeared on several TV shows, as well as The Early Show on CBS and countless radio stations (college & community) in the US. Kevin and Jim Lottridge (longtime friend and local picker) perform original songs as a duo.
