Have you ever thought to yourself, "I hear everyone talk about this life of abundance, health, success, happiness, connection, and love...but man, I don't experience that."
In Healthy AF, host Nathan Ohlson interviews people in the world that are creating a life of health, abundance, and joy. If you want to hear from some of the best in the world at living, what's working for them and what isn't, this show is for you.
When I was 17, I was diagnosed with severe Crohns Disease and told I'd be sick and on medication the rest of my life.
It took me over a decade but I've been completely off medication for 5 years and currently in the best health and shape of my life.
If there was one "secret" I learned from all that suffering that I want to pass on to others, it'd be this. I hope it impacts your life as much as it did mine(and you learn it alot faster than I did).

I've spent the last 15 years overcoming severe Crohn's disease. Medications, doctors, hospitals, years of flares.
For the last 5 I've been completely off medication in the best health and shape of my life. It took a really long time and that's why I have this channel, to help you hopefully speed up this process.
If you want to go further I have a completely free course on what I would do to get out of a flare here: https://www.nathanohlson.com/courses

We've all been there. The place so dark where it seems like there's no hope. I used to live there when I was sick with Crohns Disease.
Fortunately I've learned ways of thinking that help me not sink to that level of despair anymore. On this episode of Healthy AF, I share my top 3. I hope they help!

There's a common approach to goal setting these days that we've all heard. It involves spreadsheets, calculation, hard work, and grinding. And there's nothing wrong with any of that.
But if you're like me, and you're up against something "impossible" like: chronic illness, mental health issues like anxiety or depression, or extreme obesity...the normal goal setting style leaves something to be desired. In this episode I lay out the very short blueprint that built the foundation for me to beat Crohns Disease and become Healthy AF.
If you're currently in a Crohns or Colitis flare I have a short free course on exactly what I'd do if I was in your shoes again: https://www.nathanohlson.com/courses
Most of us don't like pain. But we've all seen the movie where the hero goes through pain/the darkness and comes out on the other side as a better version of themselves. We cheer, we clap, but we don't like when it happens to us.
I took me a long time to learn this, hopefully you can get it in the next 12 minutes.
If you're currently in a Crohn's or Colitis flare I have a %100 free course here on exactly what I'd do if I was in a flare again: https://www.nathanohlson.com/courses
My most common question: How did you go from being chronically sick with Crohn's to feeling good again?
Healthy AF is here to answer that question but in this series I want to break down where I believe the battle is won and lost: the mind.
If you're stuck on your workouts and want a plan that you can do from home check out:
The AOT Method
It's completely free.
Remember the movie "Yes Man"? The main character is depressed, doesn't like his life, and then starts saying yes to everything, finds the girl of his dreams and becomes enlightened?
Today on Healthy AF, Nathan Ohlson talks about how he used to say yes to everything, and began to learn that it wasn't the best strategy to getting healthier.
If you need help with your workouts go download the AOT Method. You can do it at home and it's completely free:

I used to blame Crohn's Disease for EVERYTHING. And you know what? That was a perfectly valid excuse. No one blamed me! It makes sense.

If you struggle with feeling lonely, you're certainly not alone.
During my first decade of being sick with Crohn's disease I tried to get my solace and comfort from everyone else around me, spoiler, it didn't work very well. In this episode of Healthy AF I talk about what to do instead
If you are stuck on your workouts and need some guidance, download the AOT Method here completely free(no optin required).

There are ENDLESS videos and podcasts telling us we just need to "work harder" and "focus more" and "get motivated". The truth is that if you stick your face in the dirt and grind towards a specific goal for an unlimited period of time until you get it, you'll get it. But it's not very fun in my humble opinion.
This is how I use fun to get me moving and stay focused on what I want.
If you're stuck on your workouts I created a free, at home workout program. Get it here: AOT METHOD (no optin)
This is exactly what I would do if I was struggling with Crohn's or some other related illness and wanted to start working out. Honestly, the steps in this episode would work for anyone who's just starting in fitness.
If you're struggling and looking for an exact workout plan I have one here completely for free:

If I could time warp back to the day I got diagnosed with all my current knowledge and grand wisdom, this is what I would do.
Getting a Crohn's disease diagnosis or another similar illness like IBS, IBD, Ulcerative Colitis or another chronic illness can be insanely overwhelming. Here's what I would do if I was faced with that problem again now.

There's a ton of noise in society today, most of it is useless. Here's the top four things I would tell my 17 year old, Crohn's Diseased self if I had a chance to go back in time. It has nothing to do with diet, fitness, sleep or any of that.
Though all those things are important I think it's extremely easy on our journey to becoming Healthy AF to get lost in the weeds and miss the simple stuff.
If you're actively struggling with Crohn's and want a 90 day, completely free at home work out, get it here. The AOT Method
Do you have a laundry list of "Have To Dos"?

Have you ever tried a 90 or 30 day challenge? Did it work?
With some exceptions to be sure, in general I'm not a huge fan and in today's episode of Healthy AF I discuss why.
I think there's far more effective and fun ways to create lasting change in the major areas of our lives, which is what we are all after right?
Speaking of change, if you have Crohn's or Colitis and you're struggling check out:
The Chronic Warrior Academy
Today on Healthy AF I talk about creating change in a healthy way in the areas of our life we all struggle with...
Drinking, weightloss, hitting the gym, etc.
We've all had those times before where we've done great in an area for two weeks and then fell off. In my personal experience, this is a big part of why that happens.

What's up friends, on today's episode of Healthy AF I dive into something that has always bothered me when people say it: "It's ok not to be ok"
If you're the overly optimistic, always achieving, overcoming obstacles type of person, this episode is for you.
This is the simple structure I use to help me move forward in my life while growing and maintaining a healthy emotional state as best as I can.
On this episode of Healthy AF: If you've ever found yourself drowning in overwhelm these are the top 3 things I've personally used to help me overcome it.
Turns out, it's extremely difficult to make great decisions in an anxious, overwhelmed or fearful state.
We need to learn to move ourselves out of these states so we can become the creators of our lives instead of just the reactors.

The other day I was talking to someone who said, "I feel like I've spent my whole life waiting...waiting to live."
On this episode of Healthy AF, I, Nathan Ohlson, get authentic and real about something I've struggled with for a long time: trying to get "somewhere" so I can finally "live".
Over the past few months I've become acutely aware of my need to "speed up" and that I'm very out of practice with allowing myself to live how I actually want to live. It's very easy to fall into the trap of, "Grind now so you can live later", but this entire idea is false...we're living, now. There's no way around it.
A fantastic book on this is:
The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer
For you guys out there, have you ever watched a hero of the story at the end of the movie leave his lover behind and ride off into the sunset alone to pursue his passion and mission?
That always left me with a sinking feeling in my gut, and now I know why. In this episode of Healthy AF, I, Nathan Ohlson, want to share with you a profound realization I had around masculinity and the way we view it.
A great book on this for you masculine dominant energy people out there:
The Way of The Superior Man - by David Deida

So you've heard so much about meditation and how awesome it is and have finally decided to give it a try. You sit cross legged, straight backed, trying to picture a white wall in your minds eye. It works for about...2 seconds and then you start thinking about unicorns or your job or how grass would look if it was upside down.
Yup.
I've been there before too. In this episode, me, the legendary Nathan Ohlson, will break down for you the most effective way I've found to meditate in the last 10 years. This isn't the only way certainly, but it's one that I've come to enjoy and has produced the best results for me.
