How It's Going So Far is a podcast about a millennial trying to make sense of the crazy world he lives in while trying to be a positive light in the community. Every season we will focus on pop culture, news, and stories, as well as funny analogies from the creator's life. Hope you stick around and hear how it's going so far!
Join me as I come back from a long break as I discuss the Ultimatum once again and also touch on subjects such as the slow decline of Netflix.
On this day I experienced what may be the pinnacle of trash reality T.V. Many have tried to create reach the peak and create a new summit I don't know if it will ever be topped by Netflix's The Ultimatum.

Hello, my name is David Shire welcome to How it’s going so far. The only podcast with the world’s number one Spider-Man Fan.

Spiderman no way home is coming out and I thought that I would give my thoughts on the best and worst of the Spider-man movies. Spider-man is my favorite hero of all time
A recent study Spider-Man is the world's favorite superhero. The friendly neighborhood Spider-Man takes up 57% of the world's countries' vote on their favorite hero.
There have been many different versions of the character from Peter Parker to Mile Morales to recently Mr.Sundy movies did a video explaining the Japanese version of Spiderman and trust me it’s weird and great.
So this will be an overall review of Spiderman’s History in film and comics and a deeper exploration of the man behind the Spider.

Welcome back to the number 1 Reality T.v podcast that my name is David Shire and this is How it’s going so far.
This week we are going to be coving reality T.V and how it became a national phenomenon and how it has grown and changed over the years.
Why do I want to talk about this? During the pandemic, I binge about 25 seasons of Survivor and now have all this information about it and thought I should try and monetize this. As I have dug deeper into the subject I’ve learned some really interesting facts and tidbits about it and weirdly enough I believe you can trace reality T.V all the way to the start of television.
I am a big Marvel fan. My favorite Marvel superhero as a kid was Spiderman and one of my first movie experiences was seeing Spiderman 2001 in theaters. Yes, they are very cheesy and the effects have not aged as well. That won’t stop me from brainwashing my children and also loving them by showing it to them at a young age. In this episode, we will be exploring what went wrong with Marvel's Eternals and how I would fix it in the script.
Chess is a game that’s been around for 1500 years originated in India in a game called chaturanga, Some social debate whether this was the earliest or if chess had earlier roots as a different version of the game.
The first recorded game was in the 10th century between a historian from Baghdad and a pupil.
Chess has recently had a popularity surge for three main reasons.

Hiking is a very strange thing to me and something I never quite understood in my twenties.
Adult life is already so miserable so why would I take a trip going up a mountain with my legs burning only to see a somewhat pretty view.
This year I think I finally got it.
Since 2016 hiking has been growing in the age of social media. Hiking since 2016 has increased by 3 million and number is set to grow maybe because of Covid.
Utah as a state has encouraged tourism by not only being the land of Latter Day saints but of the greatest outdoor adventures.
Social media has also givin hiking a real boost giving a since of FOMO for missing out on outdoor adventures.
Let’s be honest that is a part of it. I personally have seen pretty two things on every dating profile and that’s a hiking photo followed by a Photo of someone traveling to some country.
My First Hike So my story really begins about 4 years ago when I first attempted a hike.
The first hike was a sunrise Hike to Tigers mountain or Poo Poo point. I ended up going with a large group of friends and I guess I have two takeaways.
My roommate had work that day and got into a bumper accident and we had the most miserable breakfast of my entire life. I thought I was one and done.
My Second Hike This one I was a bit in over my head. It started out as a camping trip which is the main reason I went. Was going be a boys weekend. I’ve always liked camping going out hanging in the woods goofing off. Always a good time.
The hike this time was much, much harder 6 mile where the first three are pretty much straight uphill. I was wearing sneakers which probably didn’t help and mentally I wasn’t in it. I work as a freelancer and I got a contract to work on one job for 10 hours a day per week. At first it was greek it was nice having steady work. Old airforce beacon.
As a freelancer you have to worry about mental health.
The idea you are your own boss is not really true. You chose who your bosses are based on the clients you get. I made a spelling error on a website and I remember I was called by this client about halfway up the hike. I use verison by the way.
Basically I got chewed out for making this mistake. With my legs burning, Hips feeling sore, and sweat pouring down my face. The last thing I needed was to be chewed out and I gave up.
One of my friends stayed with me for a bit before going up and as I looked out the mountain I thought that it was enough I made it that far. It was still a really beautiful view I was still with my friends. Overall I still had a good time but I still wondered what it would have been like to reach the top.
My Second Attempt This year my girlfriend of one year broke up with me. It was a very mutual breakup but now I had all this extra time on my hands. I went on a hike for the first time in years Rattlesnake ridge which was a very popular hike with a friend I hadn’t talked to in a while.
It was a really good way to reconnect.
Starting to go out on runs basically turned into a stereotype of broken-hearted men trying to get their confidence back.
About three weeks ago pretty much on a whim, I decided that today was the day that I was going to see the airport beacon. Going on a hike alone is a very different experience than going with someone especially when it’s not a very popular hike. I’ve had my red Dodge caliber since 2014 and it’s been in my family since 2009 and its shocks are gone. Every bump bounces like a pogo stick.
I got lost driving because I didn’t realize that the coordinates were not right and I thought my car was going to break. The hike was not easier than I remember still faced the same issue with calves burning and legs going numb.
I got to the point where I gave up three years ago and I thought I was really close Two options. One where you go around the mountain and one where you go into the mountain. I started walking in which was the harder choice. In then up and a bunch of fallen tree’s
At this point, I looked back a lot and I had two thoughts One look how far I have already come and two I need to see the top.
When I got to the top I felt such a great sense of Joy. Weight had been lifted of the shoulder. Went to take a picture with my nice camera and I forgot a memory card which is pretty typical. I burned my heals going back down
Conclusion is Hiking is weird to wrap your head around. What’s fun about it and for me I found my answer that day. I saw a view I won’t forget for a long time and felt like I accomplished something that billions of people would not see.
Hope to go on more hikes in the future with friends
With this, I hope you feel a bit more adventurous too.
Anyway, enough stories thank you so much for listening if you like the podcast please give it a follow. It encourages me to make more cast and to keep on having adventures. Next time we will be talking about Chess and how it’s changed my mentality about life.
Thanks.
Show Notes Main Points: * Introduce the podcast * Life lessons podcast where I review life and create content * What it took for me to make a podcast in 7 days
Intro: Starting a Podcast and Past podcast experience * So this is not my first podcast but it has been a while * The first podcast was What’s weird on a streaming Netflix show. Weird content * The first episode talking about Dolls of the Mafia
Intro: Past public speaking other experience * Used to work in children's ministry * Fun at times very difficult tbh I don’t trust people who fully like children’s ministry * Prepared me for coming up with messages being organized though someday I would write the message the day before
Why did I want to do this again? * TBH I sometimes hate my job work as a freelancer - Lots of bosses * Always looking for creative outlets * Want to provide a nice distraction for myself and others - No we will not be best friends but I can entertain you for half an hour.
Starting a podcast in a week, what do you need? * In all honesty four things a Microphone * A podcast platform such as libsyn and buzzsprout * Audacity or way to record and edit files * Need an idea for a podcast
What about Successful podcast * Pick a niche podcast - Obviously not interested in trying not to be pretentious * Hire someone on fivver to create a logo * Spend time creating a website - Some platforms offer starting website * Honestly try not to sweat it - 2,000,000. Podcast right now and 48 million episodes
What did and how I did it * I went to school for graphic design and web design so that helps * Lybsyn works with WordPress so that helps - Think like apps for an iphone or android. * Purchase a domain on Godaddy or whatever platform you plan to use square space or Wix * Learn WordPress because of the link to your other platform
What is stopping you from doing it? * Last thing I want is more competitions in 20 years this show will be number one * Other day I read a fortune cookie that said “Life’s greatest pleasure is accomplishing things that people say you can’t do.” * Honestly I think that sums up the entire human race * Always weird tic tok challenges and billionaires going to the moon * So for me I decided not to go to the moon but start a podcast * And maybe it’s not a podcast for you but something more special and personal * Guess what nothing is stopping you
Ending * Thanks you so much for making it this far * If you can give a like to the podcast that would be great help the cast out and motivate me to do more episodes * Plan for season one is to be more internal release an episode once or twice a month - About as much as i can do at the moment with work * Next episode I plan on talking about hiking and the high and lows I experienced doing hikes.
