Hello and welcome to the Success Club Podcast, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 165 and today I am talking about your big goals.

I am writing this blog post in December 2020, it has been a very topsy-turvey world for everyone, but I want you to think forward, forward to what your big goals are.

It’s time for you to completely overhaul your life, in every shape possible and make it a successful one.

Your big goals can be anything you want to have, mine is made up of my push goal of health, I am a diabetic and concentrate on eating a keto-based diet, I run four days and week and exercise for 3. I drink water, only have coffee in the morning. I make sure that I have an evening routine, like putting out my clothes, journal, and blood sugar monitor and place my phone in a cupboard away from my bed.

View Details

I see a lot of lights and Christmas decorations up as I go for my run, yes I said run. I changed my walking to running. I needed a change but still wanted to get outside and do some exercise.

After some soul searching and taking a leaf from both my daughters who are runners, I decided to start running, and I must say it’s been good so far!

Maybe it’s time for you to change what you do and maybe you want to start a business online?

These lead generating pages seek to turn the visitor into your business with the sole purpose of capturing the visitor's information, ideally, just the visitor's name and email address so that you can start to nurture your visitor to engage in a relationship with that person by sending them emails that will give useful information that hopefully will turn into a sale.

First of all let me explain what an accountability group is. An accountability group—is where a group of people share their goals, report back on their progress and hold each other accountable. It is a fantastic way of getting things done.

Accountability groups are great to help keep you focused on your goals.

When you work for yourself, you are free to structure your day as you please. You have no one to hold you accountable, and so often, if you don’t feel like doing something, even though you know you should do it as it will help you achieve your goals, you just don’t get it done.

Working by yourself you can often feel isolated too, often lost in what to do next, so you don’t get it done.

It is a good idea to map out how often you’ll be posting, as well as what you’ll be posting. Ideally, you want to do this before you actually begin posting on social media. This will help you map out exactly what you want to post.

So, consider creating a social media calendar in which you map out what you will post each day during a given time period (week, month, year). This calendar will include what you’re going to post, as well as when you’ll post it.

When creating your social media calendar, ask yourself these questions: "How often will you post? Ideally, post at least once per day.

A great product launch should begin with a teaser campaign. I remember years ago seeing the teaser campaign for the launch of the Orange mobile network, it had me hooked to find out what it was all about. I stared transfixed to tv, watching advert after adverts to find what it was all about. Now you can do the same with your product.

So then, the main idea with a teaser campaign is to create curiosity as we are all curious by design. Just like when Orange Mobile created their teaser campaign, I just had to find out what this was all about, their campaign had me hooked to find out what it was all about, what was coming up.

And the good thing about teaser campaigns is that they work for nearly everyone on most platforms.

So how do you get started?

So today I am talking about Setting Strategic Goals for Social media.

So What is a Social Media Strategy?

A social media marketing strategy is a summary of everything you plan to do and hope to achieve on social media.

It helps you to guide your actions and will let you know whether you’re succeeding or not.

Each post, reply, like, and comment should serve a purpose and not just put up without thought first in thinking, what is the aim of this post?

The more specific your strategy is, the better the execution will be.

Just remember to make your plan SMART - specific, measurable, achievable, relative and time-bound.

I love my freedom and hated routines, that was until I realised that actually routines help me be successful and that in turn helps me have the freedom I want.

Let me explain, routines are just habits, and habits are things that we do over and over often without thinking about them, like brushing your teeth, which helps us to have successful outcomes.

Routines also help you get the little things done on a regular basis that help you achieve your big goal and for me, that was the freedom to run my own business on my terms.

So what routines do I have? Here we go…

I remember the very first book I read on personal development, and that was ‘The Power of Focus’ by Jack Canfield and I remember a quote that stuck with me ever since and that was, ‘it’s not all hocus pocus, it’s all about staying focused’

It is so easy to get derailed and forget about what we should be doing, even though I meditate each day, my mind wanders over things I need to do today, conversations that happened yesterday, then I remember to bring my focus back to my breathing. If you think about a plane that makes a long journey, the wind will blow it off course many, many times and the pilot has to keep bringing the plane back on track.

It is extremely important for you to get feedback from your learners, either at the end of the course, or periodically throughout the course. Not only does it help you create the best course you can, but it helps a two way conversation with your learners.

If it a new course, I tend to ask for feedback on a regular basis, but if the course has been improved from the feedback I have already gotten, then I might do this just once at the end of the course, again, this depends on how big the course is.

You need to make it the feedback forms anonymous, so that the learner feels that they can give an honest review without them feeling embarrassed.

When you start planning your course, you need to remember that failing to plan, is planning to fail - when you create a course you need to start with the end in mind and then reverse engineer it to the beginning.

You need to think about how you are going to get people from where they are now, to where they need to be. This is so important to get this stage right, right at the beginning as it’s like building a house without any foundations.

Most courses you create will have the theory, or knowledge part delivered first before you deliver the practical part.

Hello and welcome to the Success Club Podcast, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 112 and today I am talking about how to promote your lead magnet on social media

In the previous couple of posts, I have talked about lead magnets, now it’s time to start promoting them.

So, here are some steps to take to make sure it gets found…

The first you can do is to create a landing page, we need to start with the end in mind, so start here. A landing page is where a person "lands" on after clicking through from an email, ad, or other digital location. Once they’re on your landing page, users are encouraged to take an action, such as joining your list

Every time you write a blog post, put a call to action at the bottom of your blog post. This call to action would be to opt into your mailing list.

Share it on Social Media with links to your landing page and make sure you set up an evergreen campaign so that it gets shared out on social media on a regular basis

Hello and welcome to the Success Club Podcast, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 111 and today I am talking about creating an email course for a lead magnet.

Following on from last week where I talked about sales funnels, it only seemed a natural progression to talk about a lead magnet to start filling up that sales funnel. So I am going to talk to you about creating an email course.

One great hook for you to use as a lead magnet is to offer an email course, now this is a great incentive, especially if you plan on selling online courses in the future. They are easy to create and can be automated to roll out on pre-designed days. Hello and welcome to the Success Club Podcast, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 110 and today I am talking about sales funnels.

I have spoken to a lot of people over at the Success Club community and I was amazed that people did not have a sales funnel in place and some did not even know what a sales funnel.

So, to begin with, I will explain exactly what a sales funnel is. Basically put, it is the buying process that companies lead customers through when purchasing products. With an online business this typically means that you offer a lead magnet, and this could be a free ebook, webinar or a consultation in exchange for their email address so that you can start a relationship with them, You then can start sending out a regular email offering further tips and offers that eventually, and hopefully, to a sale.

Today I am talking about getting started with mentoring.

Not only is mentoring good in the workplace as it gives a new starter a great way to settle them in with the team, and then by keep mentoring them, they will grow in confidence and be a major asset to your business.

But it is good to start a mentoring program for your online business as a way of sharing that knowledge you already have and people will pay handsomely for too.

So what exactly is mentoring? Mentoring is essentially about helping people to develop more effectively. This can be within your business or it could be a program that you develop and deliver online.

However, Mentoring is not the same as training, teaching or coaching. It is more bout asking questions to find out what the individual’s goals are, so that they can lead and guide that person to their goals.

They need to offer support and help the individual to use self-reflection so that the individual can help put their own action plan in order. I often ask the mentee, what went well, what did not go so well, and what would you do differently next time?

So how would you offer a program that you became the mentor?

After doing an initial assessment of the mentee, you can write an individual learning plan for them, and them give them a roadmap for them to follow, with a way for that mentee to ask questions as they go along their journey, and you can offer, say, weekly coaching sessions with them as an individual, or in a group.

So what skills do you need as a mentor?

Today I am talking about Setting goals for your social media.

So many people don’t understand why their social media efforts don’t work for them and one of the reasons for this is that they use a scattergun approach and they just don’t plan it, deliver it or evaluate it on a consistent basis.

So the first thing you need to do is to Identify Your Goals. As Steven covey once said, ‘start with the end in mind’.

So you need to think about what it is you want to achieve with your social media efforts and make sure that you plan your goals to be a SMART goal.

Hello and welcome to the Kaz Johnson Show, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 103 and today I am talking about Creating and selling printables on Amazon’s KDP.

So first of all if you don’t know what a printable is, it’s a digital download in the form of art, graphic designs, and even text in a form of a book or colouring books, either children’s or adults, which seem to be really popular at the moment.

People can download them from a website and print from your own computer, or upload them to places like Amazon where people purchase your printable in the form of a book and Amazon will pay you royalties when someone purchases your printable.

You can also sell printables on your own website or places like Etsy, but today, I am just going to focus on selling printables on Amazon.

Amazon is great for selling printables because they will market it for you, print it out, send it to the customer, take the payments and deal with all the customer service. You just need to create the printable and upload it to Amazon KDP website, get it approved and then collect the royalties when Amazon sells it.

So, where do you start…

Hello and welcome to the Kaz Johnson Show, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 102 and today I am talking to you about creating a pdf ebook that you can either give away as a lead magnet, sell on your own website or places like Amazon as a print book or an ebook for Kindle.

First, you need to plan it all out… you know that I am a huge believer in planning… Let’s start by looking at some of the topics you could write about. They need to align with your core deliverables and it needs to be something you are passionate about. Why? Because your readers will feel that you are passionate about your subject, and if you are not, whey should they be? The other reason is that when the going gets tough, your passion will see you through.

Are you ready? So, let’s start by doing some research...

Hello and welcome to the Kaz Johnson Show, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 101 and today I am talking about creating a lead magnet that will increase your sales.

Without a doubt, creating and growing a mailing list has to be one of your top priorities in your business. But you need to create a lead magnet that is right for your business, otherwise, you will not attract the right people to your business.

I have said it before, and I will say it again, start with the end in mind, and failing to plan, is planning to fail. So here we go. Let’s start with the planning.

By starting with the end in mind you need to plan what do you want to achieve? Do you have a course on a subject you want people to join, or maybe you have a membership program that you want people to enrol in. By giving out some free content either as a checklist or perhaps some information from your course or membership, you could give away for free that will help them achieve their pain point.

In giving away some free content, you will align your business with your ideal customer, which brings me to your ideal client....

Hello and welcome to the Kaz Johnson Show, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, and today I am talking about passive income ideas..

I stumbled upon making an online business out of a need, I was recently divorced and I had to start out from where I was with what I had. A PC and an internet connection. I had been delivering IT training and qualifications from my own bricks and mortar business and now needed to find another way of delivering training.

With my background in IT, I did some research and found that you can deliver training online. I remember doing a degree course with the Open University, and that they used the Moodle to deliver some of the courses.

Moodle is a learning management soft (LMS) and it is an open source software used by colleges and universities. So I managed to install it, and set up a website and put it out there! Then Boom! Someone purchased the course, and that is how I started earning a passive income. Since then I have added multiple income steams to my passive income revenues.

So many things have changed since then and it is even easier now than ever before to start an online business and earning a passive income.

But where to start? Let’s look as some of the ideas you can do to start your journey earning a passive income…

Here a just some ideas you can earn a passive income, there are many many more, but I have listed just some of the things…

Hello and welcome to the Kaz Johnson Show, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 97 and today I am talking about feedback.

Last week I talked about measuring and testing, and I think this week’s topic about feedback sits closely with that.

Unless you get feedback either from your students and customers, then how do you know what went well?

As a teacher, we use end of session feedback forms, where we get to ask the students feedback about how they found the learner experience.

When I was teaching in a class, we gave them forms at the end of the lesson to complete, we did not ask for their personal details as I wanted the feedback to be as honest as possible and some people like to tell you what they think you want to hear, but if it was anonymous, they are more likely to tell you as it was for them.

I would ask a range of questions, not only about my teaching but the whole learner experience, things like the registration process, the venue, from things like parking, was the room temperature ok? Ie too hot or too cold, the teacher's knowledge, the pace of the course, the quality of the handouts, and that sort of thing. That way by getting feedback from the learners, I could constantly tweak it for the whole learner experience.

The more I could get good constructive feedback the better I could make it for the learner, who would then feedback their experience to other people. When I first starting teaching for myself, it was this feedback from the students that helped me to learn and grow my business.

Sometimes though, we get feedback that we feel was unjust and that leaves us feeling irked, but it is their opinion and their opinion is not wrong, so you do need to take it onboard from an unemotional place. Teaching is so personal and we put so much time and effort into it sometimes that we do take it personally. When that happens, it’s best just to park it for a while and come back to it. Especially if you get the same kind of feedback more than once.

It’s easier than ever to collect feedback online these days, you can use surveys like Survey Monkey, to create, collate and analyse the information. When you are creating your survey for feedback, and remember we are not talking about testimonials here, we are looking at getting feedback about their experience, from the first time they engage with us, to the last time.

Online things could include,

Here are a few tips when creating a feedback form.

Make sure that it's easy for them to view on a mobile device. Check it on your own mobile device to see that it works ok.

Make it as easy as possible for them to create feedback, for example, could you just use a yes/no answer. How about asking a question to rate a few questions using arrays like ‘from 1- 10, would you recommended us to your colleagues or friends’ .

When asking them for more information about a topic, make sure that you give them plenty of space to answer your question, as there is nothing more frustrating than trying to complete a feedback survey and not having enough room to express yourself and getting cut off as you have run out of space. The user will get so frustrated that they will not bother with the question and you will have missed out some vital feedback that will help you in your business.

Try not to make the survey a huge one, people are busy and impatient, so really think about the questions you are going to ask here. Spend more time thinking what is the outcome for the feedback.

Anonymous feedback surveys are different from complaint surveys where the customer wants to feedback a complaint and they want you to resolve it. This survey is one where you do not make it anonymous as you will not be able to respond to them with the solution and in this case you need to be alerted of any type of complaint feedback as soon as possible, so when you are setting up this feedback form, make sure the email that you set up for this form is dealt with really promptly.

When setting up your complaints policy, make sure that you include a way that you monitor the complaints, what they are about and how many you have over a set period of time and then analyse these to see how you can overall improve the customer experience.

Thank you for joining me this week.

Hello and welcome to the Kaz Johnson Show, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am your host today, this is episode 96 and today I am talking about measuring and testing.

There is a saying that, if You Can’t Measure It, You Can’t Improve It. Management thinker Peter Drucker is often quoted as saying that “you can’t manage what you can’t measure.” Drucker means that you can’t know whether or not you are successful unless success is defined and tracked.

When I was teaching we were taught to deliver a lesson, then to evaluate what went well, what did not go so well and what we could do better next time. – Great lesson for me, and I always do that not.

When I was taking my marketing qualifications we were taught to plan, action and evaluate, then plan again, in a round circle. Another great lesson that I always adhere to, however sometimes we are so busy wanting to move onto the next exciting project, we feel that looking back is a waste of time and effort.

Nothing could be further from the truth, in fact, it’s the complete opposite. By measuring and testing nearly everything we do, will save you time, blood, sweat, tears, and money.

So what are some of the things I measure and when I measure it?

Let’s look at some of my routines. I do a 90-day review that is set out against my 90-day goals. I tend to plan in 90 days and take a holiday every 90 days. I take my break first so that I am clear-headed and then spend a whole day looking back on how my actions planned out against my goals. This falls against my ‘what went well, what didn’t go so well, and why, and what will I do better next time’

Then there is the weekly review, this is more of a look back on the week, and I look at things that were on my goals for the week. And again, this falls back against the ‘what went well, what didn’t go so well, and why, and what will I do better next time’. Now by seeing if there was a common thread here, for example, I did not exercise, and yes exercise is one of my core must do’s if I am going to run a successful business, because if I am sick, I have bitterly learned that this has a massive impact on my business, so, it could be that I didn’t exercise for a reason, or in most of my cases, my excuses that I was using not to go to my pilates class. By keeping a weekly review, I can measure the why’s and change them into a must!

These reviews are the core of what I measure, it is so easy to get off of track for something so easy, but if we are not tracking them, we can’t improve upon them.

I could easily get off track if I don’t stick to my core set of reviews. Sometimes I have had to change a time that I am exercising because I used to exercise first thing in the morning, but go so excited about what I was working on, that I made my excuse and skipped my early morning walk. I now schedule my exercise for noon as this is when I have done most of my creative work, it’s out of my head now and feel ready to take time out of my work. This simple one change came about from me keeping weekly and 90-day reviews. It has been a game-changer for being because my main push goal was to exercise daily as my health was number 1 priority for me. Without my health I had nothing.

Let’s look at what else I measure. Each day I check my stats, from how many people checking with my blog and where they came from, how many email subscriber I have gained or lost. I changed from sending out updates on an as and when basis, to a weekly email digest, I now have less unsubscribes, more opens and more clicks. I listened to feedback from people who unsubscribed and changed things up a bit. Now my subscribers can scan the digest to see what is important to them and I save myself time by only sending out one newsletter each Tuesday.

I check my newsletter stats, the opens, and in particular the clicks, what it was that people are interested in. It’s all such useful information that helps me move forward in my online business.

Other things I look at is my interaction on social media, what posts gets likes, so I can do more of this types of post, what does not get any likes, so I don’t bother to do any more of that particular post, and so and forth.

The is a myriad of things that you can measure, but just make sure that you do make the time to put it into your routines and do it on a regular basis, it sure will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.

Thank you for joining me this week.

This week I am talking about Why resting more results in more productivity

Hello and welcome to the Kaz Johnson show. My name is Kaz Johnson and I am the blogger behind Kazjohnson.com and the founder of The Success Club. The Success Club is the place to be if you are planning, building or growing your online courses with a membership program. You can learn more about what I do at Kazjohnson.com.

Hello and welcome to session 94. This week I am talking to you about Why resting more results in more productivity.

I was recently scrolling Facebook, as you do, and saw someone had posted the question 'so what are you doing this weekend to help your business'. Most people had put on a huge list of all the things they were going to do. I posted with the comment 'rest'. Then someone replied to my comment 'someone gets it'. But I did not always get it.

I used to work 7 days a week, I love what I do and never saw that working at all times, night, day, weekends would actually detract from my business and I would be doing a disservice to my customers. Then I kept getting sick, this became a recurring theme for a couple of years, till finally, I suffered a very bad case of pneumonia. I now believe getting sick is telling you to have to rest.

Many people tell you to work your side hustle all the hours you can, but I now believe that resting results in being more productive. So it's a case of working smarter and not harder. I make sure that I have systems in place for work efficiency and batch my work where I can, and I tend to follow this mantra, automate, delegate or delete it. I only do the things I love or can only be done by myself. As a former IT Trainer, I love setting up systems that run themselves, the more I take me out of the equation the better.

I now work fewer hours, I tend to work about 30 hours a week on my business. This is just 6 hours a day for 5 days a week. I block this time into my calendar so when I am working, I am working and when I am resting I am resting. I can guarantee that you will be more productive if you rest more.

As a teacher, I am a huge reader of books, especially of self-development books and when I discover a book called Why You Get More Done When You Work Less by Alex Soojung-Kim Pang. This book really resonated with me and affirmed what I was finding out. Since doing less, I have so far, touch wood, not kept on getting sick. I take time out in nature, which I adore and always come back feeling so full of vitality, and I am raring to go, this was not the case a few years ago, I felt like I was going around with a ball and chain on my leg. Not good for me, my family nor my customers.

The book Why You Get More Done When You Work Less, which I have now read several times, funny how sometimes you miss something the first time around, is great for people like me, who are creatives and can only do their best work when they are not tired.

I find by resting more, spending more time in nature, that I also sleep better too. For years I suffered from insomnia, and for those who suffer with, I feel your pain. Insomnia had me working in the middle of the night as I thought I might as well work if I am awake as I was going to be tired the next day anyway... How wrong was I! I was not doing my best work at all! I get you when you can't seem to switch off and end up scrolling through social media as your poor head won't let you rest.

I also found by simplifying my life and doing some deep work, as suggested by the book of the same name, Deep Work, by Cal Newport, I am able to focus single-handedly on task without distraction. I turn off all notifications on my laptop, on my phone I have taken off all social media except Instagram as I like to be in the moment and capture moments and share them with people.

And finally I put my Pomodoro timer on, a Pomodoro timer is a productivity tool designed for your work and study, it enables you to stay focused and finish tasks effectively and you can set it for 5, 15, 30 and 60 Minutes, I got mine on Amazon, I will put the links for you in the show notes. I put my timer on for blocks of 40 minutes and then get up, go into my house and take a break for 20 minutes. The reason I don't put my timer on my phone is that I keep it in the house when I am working for that I am not distracted.

By resting on a regular basis, I come back to my task in hand refreshed and vitalised then I can focus again for another 40 minutes working deep on my task in hand. When I first started doing this, I could only work for say 20 minutes, then have worked up to my now 40 minutes.

I now make sure that I have a balanced routine going on, and that I take all my devices out of my bedroom and lock them away when I finish work! As I need to go out of my house and walk to my office, this cured me of 'I am just going to...'. I can't say it was easy weaning myself of my digital devices. I now read paperback books when I am not working, although I do like to listen to audible books when I am driving instead of the car radio.

Anyway, I thoroughly recommend you getting this book, Why You Get More Done When You Work Less Paperback by Alex Soojung-Kim Pang to help you rest more and get more results in your productivity Soojung-Kim also explains the silence behind it so you don't just have to take my word for it. Please get this book if you are wanting to be more productive and work less so that you don't go down the route that I did and start suffering from burnout. It's a long road to recovery and one I do not want to go down again.

Thank you for joining me this week.

Hello and welcome to episode 67 Of the Kaz Johnson show, my name is Kaz Johnson and I am the blogger behind Kazjohnson.com and the founder of Kaz Academy. The Kaz Academy is the place to be if you are planning, building or growing your online business with online courses and a membership programme. You can learn more about what I do at Kazjohnson.com.

This week I am talking to you about Planning your course idea.

So we are going to look at beginning brainstorming ideas, the first thing I want you to do is to grab a pen and paper, if you are listening to this in a car, just make a mental note and come back to this episode later, but you can think about each exercise as we go along.

So let’s get started...

The first thing you need to do is to start from where you are with what you have. Think! Are you a teacher? Are you a coach? Do you already have a blog? Do you already have a business? If the answer to yes to any of these, write, yes and then put down your answer to which subject you can teach.

If you have said no to the previous question, think for a moment what you are most passionate about, write the first thing that comes to mind and write this down. So what things are interested in, list about 4 topics here. Then write 4 things you are passionate about, next list 4 Things you have done & have authority in. And finally, what transformation will the learner see?

Now you have a list of your topics, you need to narrow it down. You could deliver all of these courses in your chosen topic, but for now, you really need to narrow the topic down until you come up with just one idea. To do this you need to think about what is the fastest, and least expensive way for you to create this course, is it going to be a series of lessons delivered over a series of emails, or is it going to be a course delivered as an online course with your current LMS?

Now, look at your course idea, is this something you are really passionate about? Do you feel excited about creating this course? Yes? Great.

And finally, does this topic align with your business long term goals? If yes… you have now planned your course idea.

If you would like to take the course ‘Plan your course idea’ where you will learn about who your audience is and how you can help them. You will also find your audience's pain points and brainstorm how you can solve them, and finally, you will find out which of your passions will be the most impactful for just $25, you can join the Kaz Academy here.

The Kaz Academy is open for enrolments this week and you can grab the Early Bird offer that entitles you to $50 off your Annual Plan, not only this year, but for every year you are on this plan, to get this amazing early bird offer, head on over to KazAcademy.com, but hurry as this offer closes on the 19 January 2019.

This week I am talking to you about the tools I use in my email list building.

Email marketing has to be one of your top priorities in helping you grow your business, especially if you want to sell your online courses. As you have heard before, people buy from people they know, like and trust. So you need to be thinking about how you can build that relationship and one way is by building a list of subscribers who are interested in creating and selling online courses. And by creating a well thought out email marketing strategy, you can do just that.

So here is a list of the tools I use in my email marketing strategy and the order I have set them up to help me build my list, so that I can nurture and create that know, like and trust and grow my business.

  1. First things first, starting with the end in mind, I think about what I what to offer people as my call to action (CTA) So, if I am going to send out a cheatsheet or ebook, then I create an opt-in offer using Designerr. It is so easy to create an ebook from written content like Blogs and websites Social content from Facebook Pages. You can also create them Audio, Video and YouTube files (These get transcribed automatically in minutes, how cool is that?). I tend to keep it simple and just create an ebook from a Word document, then choose the same template to keep my brand looking constant, as I use the same artwork in my membership program, they have at the moment a huge amount of free templates to use, and the great thing about Designerr I find, is that it is so easy to edit and you can publish it to your website in a click of a button, however, you get to store all your work on your account so there is no problem of getting that one e-book you have just created lost in the many, many files you have on your computer. The other thing I like is that all the links are clickable… you can also do a huge amount of other things I am not doing at the moment, like make it a flip book, publish it on Kindle or have a blog published just by adding the blog post URL. I will put a link in the show notes as they also have a free 7-day trial, go check it out.. I have been using Designerr now for a couple of years.

  2. Ok, next I need an option tool, somewhere people can opt-in to get my ‘ethical bribe’ my free opt-in offer in exchange for their contact details, and for that, I use Thrive Architect as it is so quick to set up in just a few clicks. It is great as there are several options that you can use to have members sign up for your offer. They offer something called Thrive light boxes or you can use a link in your blog, and what I particularly like about Thrive Architect is that you can set up landing pages really quick with their tried and tested templates. They integrate with most email providers, I use Getresponse, and you can create opt-in offers, that can be downloaded immediately, or you can send them in your email that they sign up to, or you can just redirect them to a particular website, so that they can download your offer, of like me, can be redirected to sign up for my free Kaz Academy Lite membership.

  3. Another tool I use is, Convertbox. Convertbox makes it super easy to create high converting two-step offers so you can hook your visitor with a simple pre framing message before revealing your main call-to-action. I use it on both by the blog and my Academy to collect leads, and offer the free opt-in there and then. I offer a free Kaz Academy Membership called Kaz Academy Lite, where people can get access to free online course and resources. I tend then to keep all my ethical bribes in one place, plus, the Lite members can also see, but not get access to, the content in the paid members area. As I keep adding more free content to the membership, people who have signed up get access to all the free content and do not have to keep signing up, it also keeps all their resources neatly in one place.

  4. With both of the opt-in tools I have just mentioned, you will need some way of collecting the leads, there are many options, and the main ones are:- Mailchimp, Aweber, Converkit, Getresponse, and this is the one that I use. In the past I have used, Mailchimp, Aweber and Constant Contact, and at the time moved because I felt I had outgrown them at the time. Things change, however, I now have settled with Getresponse and found that their live help chat amazing

  5. Once you have people signed up to your list, it is a good idea to use social media to push out your content on a regular basis to engage people with your content and to have them sign up to your email list so that you can nurture them. For that I did use Meetedgar for that last couple of years, but I am currently using Blog2Social, as I think we can easily get locked into one tool, mind you, Meededgar is amazing at repurposing your evergreen content, and what I meed by evergreen, is that content that you have created never gets old, it just is current today as it was last year.

With all of these tools, and many offer a free trial, I will put a link into the show notes so you try them out for yourself.

This week I am talking to you about what is stopping you from creating your online course

The only thing that is stopping you creating your online course is you… The number one thing I hear is that what is stopping you from creating your online course is… "I’m not an expert! So who will buy my course?”  I get it! I felt like that when I first starting selling online courses even though I was qualified to teach, had then over 20 years of teaching experience, I still felt that I was not an expert to teach!!!

I started my online training business in 2010 soon after I was divorced and I had to start from where I was, with what I had, a PC and the internet.  I was teaching in a bricks and mortar business, but this had to be sold as we owned the premises and it needed to get sold as part of the divorce settlement.

I started with an online course delivering the Teaching Qualification that I had been delivering in the classroom, so it was something I already new was in demand, but I was not sure how it would be received as an online course.  I started with MOODLE, a free open source Learning Management System, and set up a website to market it.

I had only written the first lesson, as I did not want to write the whole course if it was something that people only wanted as a classroom course.  Within days I had sold my first online course!  Over time I have, through trial and error, perfected the system and it is the model that I use today.

Today I am talking about the value of rest.

As a diabetic, type 2, I did not want to go onto medication, instead, I decided to study what made my bloods sugars so unstable.

Amongst my findings, I found out that the lack of sleep raises the cortisol levels, and with that my blood sugars soared.  Not good at all.
