Just like the point of content marketing, story telling is not to so much selling as it is building strong, loyal relationships.

People want more than data, they want to be transported, they want and love stories. Listen up here and you'll find out why and how...

Why? Because you should be creating content for your audience whether direct to clients, individuals or businesses, or to your piers, a referral network.

Realize that though more time goes into creating your original content (rather than simply sharing, commenting or engaging in someone else’s content), you are positioning yourself as the authority in your industry.
You are building and showcasing an awareness of your skills, experience, and expertise so that you stay top of mind whether someone needs your services now or in the future.

Wait, what, LinkedIn Stories? Yep, it seemed to be working for Instagram, so LinkedIn created their own, business toned version!

Much like the introduction of Instagram Stories, LinkedIn Stories offers a huge opportunity to create a stronger, more personable dialogue with your audience in this new “snackable” format to show case your knowledge and authority in a fun/engaging way.

But before jumping straight into your new LinkedIn Stories content strategy, it’s worth considering who you’re talking to and why you want to capture their attention. Understanding the audience you’re talking to, what they are interested in, and what you want to achieve will help to shape your content strategy and keep you on track for success! Now, continue listening for the why and how to implement…

One of the most valuable tools LinkedIn rolled out a midway through last year was EVENTS. This past year interactions rapidly transitioned from in person to online, and this particular tool became an efficient way LI offered to promote, well, your events including webinars, zoom based or otherwise, workshops, announcements and updates related to your firm.

So, let’s talk about what this is, how to implement, and leverage it for your law practice as we evaluate what new approach or strategy you can adopt in this second quarter of Spring to meet your business goals!

This one is a personal. It will be a bit out of the ordinary, and go deep(er than usual) on a personal level than what I usually serve up here on the Lawyers Lunch and Launch show.

How? I’m going to share with you my big WHY(s) for creating my LINK-IN LEVERAGED LAWYERS™ course, which is really more of a journey, for lawyers.

I’ve been hinting at this LINKED-IN LEVERAGED LAWYERS™ course offer over the last few weeks. Then, suddenly someone asked me WHY? Why are you putting all this energy, effort, time into assembling this online course? At first I rattled off all the nifty bells, whistles, shiny objects and updates (which are very much a part of the course.) Then I asked myself, but really why, in a deeper way.

There’s more to it, and it’s personal for me and for you…

A few months ago, I received a message from someone who said “I see you may be interested in purchasing real estate in New Zealand.” Really?! How, why, and what on earth is it about my profile that gives you that idea in any way?! Today we get hit up by plenty of attempts to connect on LinkedIn, and sadly most are not a good fit.
We’re busy, we are getting more and more selective about where we spend our time - so be respectful of this!

One of the best ways I’ve found to show respect and connect in a meaningful, relevant way is to do my research - and what I recommend for you as well.

One of the best tools to help you reach out to a highly relevant audience, in a meaningful way is by using LinkedIn’s premium service tool Sales Navigator. As with nearly any tool today, it can be abused, overused indiscriminately, but what I’m talking about is again, using this as a tool to make the right connections in the right way.

When someone comes knocking on your law practice door, you don’t welcome them in to your office consisting of torn carpeting, broken furniture, or peeling paint, right?! Of course not! Similarly, as you open your virtual office door - especially this year of offline, virtual touch points - you should not welcome anyone to a default, ‘broken’ online profile or presence!

This is why I’ve focused steadily on ensuring you are not that ‘default’ (broken) attorney, but rather taking a proactive approach to engaging relationships. Isn’t this what you would do in real life? You don’t just sit tucked away in your office thinking ….they will just automagically come. So, here are the TOP 3 TIPS on WHY you need to step up and optimize your online profile, presence, and particularly your unique brand flavor!

Many of us have been doing plenty of navel gazing this past year - wait what? Yes, today defined as ‘self-absorbed pursuit’ - as in we’ve had more time (non-existent or very short commute) to evaluate and turn our gaze inward asking ourselves how to interact, engage in that non-physical, online kind of way.

On this episode I talk about the third most common objection or frustration I hear from lawyers related to their online positioning and engagement…“I don’t even know where to start”, “I’m not tech-savvy”, or “lack of know-how”….So let’s talk about a few easy, actionable ways to address some initial tech points for setting up your Profile on LinkedIn per best practices!

This month of February I continue to to address THE most common pain points, misunderstandings and questions I’ve heard from lawyers this last year when it comes to their online presence and engagement.

This week I dive into the matter of time. Really? Nope. There's more to this than simply concern about wasting those non-billable hours.

If you knew, understood, or believe (as you should) that your online presence, activity, and engagement directly correlated to the growth of your law practice and quality of clients - would you be willing to spend a few hours monthly? Of course! "

Let me show you how!

This month of February I am going to address THE most common pain points, misunderstandings and questions I’ve heard from lawyers this last year.

This week I'll start off with “SEO” - What is it? How has it evolved? And, as always, the 3 things you can do right now to optimize (ie rank more highly) w/in the search engines….

Of all the online channels/social media tools, LinkedIn is the most familiar and meaningful to lawyers because it was built as a business based channel.

Reminder - it is SO MUCH MORE than a resume portal, or recruitment tool, and I STILL bump into lawyers who are completely missing out on leveraging this channel because “they are not looking for work….”

Why bother with optimizing my LinkedIn profile? Does it even matter? How do I know or measure whether it makes a difference in growing my law practice?

Of all social media platforms, LinkedIn, which is considered the “professional” social network, is far and away the most popular with attorneys. Due to its professional tone, lawyers naturally feel comfortable participating on LinkedIn. According to a 2019 ABA Legal Technology Survey Report, over 98% of lawyers now use the platform.

But simply having a basic or worse default profile on the platform isn’t enough to leverage it for your benefit. Once you realize how valuable this resource is to your firm’s digital marketing program, and general business development overall, you will be eager to optimize your participation in this space.

For many lawyers, LinkedIn is an untapped opportunity resource. Maybe you only created a profile in law school or when you first formed your firm. There is a good chance you are not capitalizing on the features that the platform offers. Here are several ways you can use LinkedIn to help build your practice and boost your digital marketing efforts.

Your headline is one of the most visible parts of your LinkedIn Profile and it’s a huge factor in that person’s decision to reach out to you or move on to the next person. It’s also a major factor in LinkedIn’s search algorithm. Headlines carry a lot of weight when the platform is deciding which profiles to serve up for different queries. Optimized headlines = more searches, more searches = more views, and more views = more opportunities and deals. At the end of the day, LinkedIn is a search engine just like Google, YouTube, or Amazon, and you are a human connecting with other humans

We’re learning that more than ever your prospective clients are consuming content through online articles, video, podcasts and webinars, along with more conversations and connections being made initially online in a way we’ve never quite seen before.

The Social Network of choice for most attorneys and many of their clients is LinkedIn to both begin and continue relationships. As a Professional Network LinkedIn is where we’re spending most of our time for the purpose of doing business.

The number one mistake I see on this channel is attorneys who are themselves using it as passive viewers, taking in information but missing out on applying it as a tool to build relationships and business. I say RELATIONSHIPS because this is the most natural and real life manner to initiate engagement.

As founder of Linsey Shae Consulting, Linsey Levine, brings over a decade of experience in corporate America, including Comcast and the Miami Heat.

After graduating from New York Law School, Linsey worked as in-house counsel for Comcast where she was promoted to Chief Compliance Officer of her division. It was there she realized the importance of having a strong compliance program, no matter the size of the company.

While most people see compliance as a tedious task that restricts companies from working in the most productive way, Linsey’s unique approach takes into account organizational efficiency while keeping company culture intact.

She has seen first-hand what happens to companies that don’t have the right policies in place: legal issues, monetary fines, tarnished reputation and even loss of valued employees and customers. Linsey creates a strong foundation of compliance for her clients so they can avoid these harmful consequences.

Here are "The Three Things" we'll share in this episode...

  1. Basics of what a compliance program is - not just dealing with laws and regulations and how it also effects small businesses,

  2. Benefits of why all companies should be documenting their policies and procedures and best way to go about this (two way street).

Video also has the power to answer your clients’ questions before they even walk in your door or pick up the phone. You look knowledgeable and generous for sharing your expertise, and your passion and personality become a part of the information your viewers take away.

Video lets viewers start to feel like they know you, and they are converted when you give them something of real value to take away and use to solve their problems.

Video is also more compelling than text, and it’s a chance to speak directly to a specific segment of your audience. When you really use video to focus on who you want to reach, you can deliver a message that is immediately helpful—and people remember the people who help them in their time of need.

If your video helped your potential clients once, they already know you are someone who has the ability and dedication to help them again. They'll listen and you are on your way to building trust...

Here are my top three, easy to implement (and proven) tips for garnering much more attention, more views and engagement…

Lawyers are under a lot of pressure and don't necessarily take comfortably to rapid technology changes, big data or process development.

Clients are demanding greater responsiveness at lower costs and may more readily send work to offshore, automated or online providers.

The successful lawyers will be leaders and problem-solvers. Unnecessary conflicts are out; civility, professionalism and especially personality are more important than ever.

Way back when, lawyers became subject matter experts and were on the top of their game for many years. Today change is occurring at an exponential rate, information is available 24/7 to anyone with a connection to the internet, and clients are demanding frequent if not daily updates.

To be successful in this tech-driven world, lawyers need to focus on developing, learning (or re-learning) a mindset that gaining perspective over knowledge...

This month I'm focusing on productivity for your law office, and for yourself.

Search the term “productivity” in the App Store, and you will find hundreds of results. There’s never been more software and apps to help people better manage their time. In addition to the many marketing and practice management tools, there’s an overwhelming list of tools claiming to boost your productivity.

I've narrowed down a few that are both relevant to law firms as well as secure, inexpensive, and easy to implement.

The first two weeks I'm showing a few reliable, reputable and solid tools that will streamline your operations including file storage and remote document signatures.

If you are at all active online, you know the feeling of stressing out over your content at the last minute...

You try to stick to a regular content schedule and so you scramble to write a quick blog post just to hit the weekly quota.

This isn’t just an isolated event. There’s a massive problem in the legal industry with people who are unsure about how to create a sustainable content marketing strategy - especially when they are also meeting billable hours, handling a large case load and simply lawyering!

This gem of a slide-hosting platform is the “sleeping giant” that all content marketers should befriend. There are 40 different content categories on SlideShare, so the competition for your particular niche is probably relatively small – providing you with a relatively uncluttered distribution channel.

Also, 80% of SlideShare traffic comes from search engines - now if this doesn’t set your SEO happiness-receptors aglow, I don’t know what will!

Using SlideShare a no-brainer. With minimal effort, you can even upload existing slide presentations you’ve already created in a variety of formats!

Drilled into our heads from law school to work hard, bill lots of hours and provide high quality work. Yes, and building a network of high quality relationships, and making a name for yourself - did anyone say there were only 24 hours/day???

Look around, those lawyers who have managed to create and sustain a strong personal brand generate speaking opportunities, and visibility generally by attracting the right kind of attention to their expertise in a particular practice area.

A content marketing strategy which is what I’ve been chatting about on these last three shows is nothing without a story that weaves us in, that makes us feel, that makes us willing to take a journey away from our day to day schedules.

Just like the point of content marketing, story telling is not to so much selling as it is building strong, loyal relationships.

People want more than data, they want to be transported, they want and love stories.

The most important way to develop a keen understanding of your ideal client is of course to have conversations directly with them, and this can come from your past experiences handling their needs, or in the case of pivoting your practice in a different direction, about listening carefully online.

Social media audience analysis can give you insight to what content topics are most relevant and meaningful to your specific audience, and you can them map out your content marketing strategy, to move your prospects from awareness to evaluation to the conversion stage.

No one plans to fail, but fail to plan - and we know how that ends. In this episode I’m talking about having a plan and strategy for your content marketing. As mentioned in last weeks podcast, content marketing is all about providing useful, meaningful content to your clearly and specifically defined audience of prospective clients to drive qualified in-bound traffic.

Nowadays there are lots of content marketing channels and strategies, so let me cover at least the basic element that must be in place for content marketing to work as intended…

This month will be all about content marketing - because useful content should be at the core of all your marketing! Traditional marketing is becoming less effective and I want you to understand there is a better, more efficient, and more meaningful way!

First, what is content marketing? It gets used and misused all the time, so let’s set the understanding straight...

Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.

As you may have noticed, this first month of 2019 has been all about LinkedIn's newest features and how to leverage these to grow your law practice, position yourself more efficiently online, or build out your network generally.

In this last segment of LinkedIn’s newest features, I’m going to future pace, meaning I’ll give you a heads up on preparation for 2019 LinkedIn trends based on several interviews, podcasts conducted and given, and hundreds of hours worth of research from this past year.

In 2018, Linkedin turned out to be one of the biggest game changers for anyone with an audience on LinkedIn - and well beyond the B2B span, now also B2C!

View Details

A few months ago, LinkedIn rolled out its voice message feature within their app platform giving the ability to send voice messages within a private message.

Why is this important? So, for those attorneys who are slightly time-strapped (no, I don’t know of one who has all the time in the world!), you can now easily and efficiently record a message and hit send, rather than typing out an entire message. Safe to say that sending off 10 personalized voice messages will save time over typing in 10 messages (that are much less personal) - right?

As you may (or not) know, LinkedIn has been adding features at warp speed, some of which I’ve cherry picked out for you as most relevant to growing your law practice and positioning lawyers for authority building, and easy engagement.

For 2019 the next generation of LinkedIn Company pages has been completely rebuilt to create and nurture conversations with LinkedIn now nearly 600 million member community (and 30 million pages).

Here are a few of the new capabilities of these Company Pages...

And, coming up later this month also a few other updates that are kicking in for LinkedIn this new year including voice messaging (more ways to have conversations!), a relaunch of LinkedIn pages with new business features, and much more about video as well!

Personality Branding is a foreign concept to most attorneys. This is true for most forms of marketing in the legal field. Attorneys simply do not have time to brand themselves, or take branding into consideration when operating their firm. Who can blame them?

Let’s face it, time is limited. However, branding is something that you cannot overlook. Who you are and what you are known for will eventually be made known. Do you want to be in charge of letting people know who you are, or do you want to leave it up to someone else to describe your business?

View Details

When we consider branding and balance, the focus should be on finding the right proportion of you relative to your narrowly defined audience. Spoiler alert - it’s not all about you. Though I see this running rampant on law firm website and online messaging! Your accolades, your recognition, your huge pre-court multi-million dollar settlements - these are all great, commendable, but make sure they are positioned so your specific audience (whether B2C or B2B) can identify with this messaging. This is the balance we have to strike.

Very practically speaking, this is one of the very first things I work with my attorney clients on - re-positioning and flipping their story, their accomplishments into a very client-facing, benefits-driven online profile. We need to make sure this messaging and our voice is streamlined across platforms from your website to your most relevant online social channels (as well as offline assets). Otherwise, what do we have? Yep, a spaghetti toss to see what sticks with little order, preparation or balance.

View Details

Here’s the takeaway and business lesson: And, this is also why I named this first of two episodes the “Branding and Spaghetti Toss” - in all we do you must prepare. Otherwise, what are we doing? Just tossing the spaghetti against the wall to see if it sticks! I’ve been guilty of this toss!

Have a marketing strategy, and prepare. No matter how much you pay for those Google adword campaigns, or how much time you put into your LinkedIn outreach and referral partner nurturing, it’s no good if you don’t prepare by thinking through a well-positioned, and optimal plan that mirrors your practice and goals! It’s the end of the year - just do it!

You can be bold enough to share your own story, the peaks, and most importantly the valleys and how you got through these rough patches. Because guess what? We’re all human, and we can all identify with life’s spills. People relate to stories! They see bits of themselves in the story teller, and this is all part of how you build the know, like and especially trust in a very competitive area. Because no one else has your story, you own it outright, and this means no one can compete on this level!

Niche marketing or ‘power niching’ as I’ve also heard it referred to as  - as opposed to mass marketing positions you to speak in the most relevant way with your ideal audience of prospective clients.

Other benefits including cost efficiency (so you can focus your resources on a specific group/industry), expert branding (you become the industry expert), level playing field (as an expert in a particular area, whether you are part of an Am Law 100 firm or solo practitioner, many clients aren’t too concerned about size as long as you knowledgeable on issues they need addressed in their lives or business.

This past week I presented on social media to the Ca Special Districts Association Annual Conference in a very hot (110) Palm Springs. As I chatted with attorneys from various larger law firms who provide services to many public agencies across the country.

As the eternal curious student I asked what they are currently doing in terms of engagement, and outreach to their relevant audience - in this case - stakeholders from public agencies including general managers, staff, and directors. I mean they were there at the conference setting up a booth and rubbing shoulders to keep themselves visible and relevant to their target audience. And, this presence was not inexpensive.

Some stated they had a marketing department or point person who handled outreach. So, I guess they don’t know and/or care much in terms of expanding their client base. Most however, responded to what they are doing, if anything, online that they had a website. Ok, so you have a static bookmark online - and remind me again when it was last updated or how much traffic it was actually attracting?

Of course, the most relevant online platform of all social media channels for most attorneys is LinkedIn, so I had to ask. Many responses when I asked about whether they made any use of their LI Profile, simply said “well I have a job at __ firm, and so don’t really need to use my LI Profile…” Wait, what? This really caught me off guard - are there really attorneys that still believe the only thing LI is good for is as a resume/job posting portal??? So, just let me get this off my shoulders….

View Details

This month we’ll take it further and explore how to re-evaluate the way  to think of your legal services. You’ve heard it before, but it bears repeating - the riches really are in the niches.

So, when I see yet another attorney profile that offers every imaginable legal service area, and claims to have expertise in several legal fields, it causes confusion. Realize that when you speak to everyone, you speak to no one.

Like any other rainmaking effort, niche marketing will not bring you all the clients you can handle overnight. You must establish yourself as someone whom people in that organization, group, industry, or niche can count on as the expert to help them with their problems and guide them to achieve their goals. This takes time and consistent effort on your part.

Most lawyers will tell you that they would like to be a big fish in a big pond. Yet with more than a million practicing attorneys in the United States, this is an impractical goal to reach. Why not try to become a big fish in specific, smaller ponds? The rewards you reap will be a bigger book of business.

This week I’m talking about two updates LI recently made and you should be aware of for the many opportunities these changes mean for business building. Let’s update your profile image and summary so you are leveraging these changes to build your practice.

First, Your headshot has shifted to the left-hand side rather than centered on your profile.

Because your background image is no longer obstructed by your headshot, you have more open space to work with, even though the size of the background photo is the same (1584 x 396 pixels).

View Details

This week we’ll chat about how you can employ LI’s native video. And it used to be only available from your personal profile, but as of March this year, it is now available for B2B outreach purposes from your Business Page. LI is going all in with its B2B so companies can easily leverage sponsored content and company pages to reach and engage the right audiences, the right way.

Why is a professionally based platform like LI doing this? Quite simply people—including business people—want to watch.

Fifty-nine percent of executives say that if text and video are available on the same topic, they’re more likely to choose video. More than 80% of senior executives watch more online video today than one year ago. 96% of B2B companies are planning on dedicating a significant portion of their marketing budget to video in their content marketing over the next year.

There’s no denying that video is a proven tactic to engage decision-makers. If your audience wants to consume content by video, it seems a smart move to provide them with that. In the past, the challenge has been to find the right, high quality context to provide this desired medium.

This week we’re diving into part 4 of this months 4 part series on auto-piloting your law practice.  One of the best tools and returns you can ever get for your marketing dollars is blogging.

Because blogging is, and will remain, an essential game plan to reach your audience.

You have a 434% higher chance of being ranked highly on search engines if you feature a blog as part of your website.

Most importantly, your blog is the human face of your business. It’s where you offer relevant content for your audience as well as your voice, tone, and personality. This is especially important for law firms which are often viewed as a necessary step in a less than positive context, impersonal or intimidating.

This week we’re diving into part 3 of this months 4 part series on auto-piloting your law practice. While I shared a few ways to automate processes within your practice, this one will be about balancing automation with personalization when it comes to your law firm’s external processes.  And, one of the most important aspects of any firm’s external processes is that of outreach and engagement. As any attorney, you have a finite amount of time (if any) to dedicate to legal marketing. It therefore becomes so important to have a process that genuinely nurtures a lead along the path of becoming a client, and having the metrics to show what is working really well.

This is what strategic, and well-thought out marketing automation can provide if done right. Here are some of the benefits and systems that can be set up to qualify and progress a lead to the point of your human touch.

We’ll start by knocking off a few initial key points when it comes to auto-piloting aspects of your business.

And, I’ll admit the concept of automating any aspect of my business was tricky for me to grasp and reconcile in my own mind because my business is all about creating meaningful relationships, and not a numbers game. What I came to realize however is that there are different aspects of automatization. For example, you should always be thinking of ways to automate processes within your practice, and you can automate your outreach to qualify, or progress someone to a certain point - wherever you decide that is - then I it is absolutely crucial to then have the real human touch.

So, all of a sudden, people in the online business world are finally starting to talk about  “GDPR” - and it is becoming a big impending deal here in the US, but a big deal in the EU and UK.

GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and is a EU law taking effect on May 25, 2018. , On a very basic level is designed to give greater protection to an individual’s personal information and how it’s collected, stored, and used. There will now be very strict requirements placed on companies that possess and process the personal data of people located in the EU and UK.

If  you engage with prospects or clients through ANY online channels, through your online  marketing outreach or on your email list who are in the EU or the UK...this DOES affect you, and compliance is mandatory as of May 25 of this year, 2018. Organizations that are not compliant could face fines of up to 20M Euros or 4% of a company’s global turnover.

Facts tell, stories sell. So let’s discuss how you can share your unique attributes and accomplishments,  in a story to connect! And, everyone has a story, but no one else has your story...

I tell my story all the time. I tell it on my website, in my client conversations, in my workshops,  in my bio, anywhere anyone will let me or listen! Why?

Because it helps my potential clients connect with me. The goal in telling my story is to show people that you know what it feels like to build a firm, a business, a life - having been in their shoes in a legal environment, and then doing it daily as a marketing business owner, I know exactly how they feel.

We all know it’s a competitive environment however, continuing to view your marketplace as simply competitive will perpetuate the commoditization of you and your services. This is a very strong sentiment within me, the way I run my business and in every way I work with clients. And, I’ll be the first to say that my business model and approach is not a good fit for everyone. For those who believe that growing or evolving their own practice is a zero sum game all based on numbers alone, we’re not a good fit.

I’ve said it before and say it again…If there is one concept that permeates everything I do in my own business, and that is the most meaningful value I can deliver to my attorney clients it is this:

I BELIEVE THAT WHERE YOUR UNIQUE PERSONALITY AND PROFESSIONALISM MEET, THIS IS WHERE YOUR PRACTICE THRIVES, SUCCEEDS AND BRINGS ENORMOUS SATISFACTION...

You’re highly qualified, highly educated…an expert.

Very few people have the intelligence and determination required to achieve what you’ve achieved. And for that reason, it’s easy to see why a lot of attorneys cringe at the idea of legal services becoming a commodity, but I see this happening all too often.

The legal profession is a stressful one. So it’s no wonder that lawyers suffer from depression at twice the rate of the general population, which means that of the 1.2 million lawyers in the United States, 240,000 of them are clinically depressed.

Between the stress and the high levels of depression, it’s no wonder that 7 out of 10 lawyers surveyed by the California Lawyers magazine would change careers if the opportunity arose. But that’s not the only solution. There are plenty of ways to decrease the stress and increase happiness without leaving the profession altogether.

However, if you are at a point where you are considering a career change, this week's guest, lawyer-turned-transformational-coach, Camille Walker has some valuable advice based on her back story that takes us from attorney to coach and today leading a passionate life.

This month is going to be our March (not so) madness month and I’ll be focusing on various aspects of creating systems, strategies to streamline your workflow practice with one main focus for each of the next 5 weeks in March.

Lawyers work hard. It’s simply the nature of the business. Practicing law is a demanding job that often requires long hours. Your schedule tends to be at the mercy of the court and the unexpected service of opposing counsel’s reply papers on a Friday afternoon can completely derail your weekend plans.

That’s why it’s so important that your law firm’s workflow is as efficient as possible. Improving workflow efficiently will save you both time and money, ultimately reducing your stress levels and allowing you to focus on what you do best–representing your clients. That’s also one of the many ways to becoming the happy lawyer you were meant to be, which is the focus of my 5 part series this month of March!

While your audience may briefly see your name and profile picture first, the summary of a LinkedIn profile is what the vast majority of the site’s 500 million viewers first examine and get to know you in depth. A great summary provides your professional, personal and unique essence to readers, and if it intrigues them, they will keep reading.

The summary should be a short version of why you do what you do, in your own words. Use the summary area of your profile to provide a snapshot of your professional journey and aspirations. Write it in first person, this connects you to the reader and just keeps it real. Aim for a tone that is somewhere between conversational and not too casual. The summary should not simply recap your experience and education sections; consider it a cover letter for the rest of the profile and make it interesting enough that the reader wants to continue scrolling down for the other sections that reflect your entire picture. Many conclude the summary with a “call to action” — or at least what I prefer - an invitation to contact the user.
