My guest in this episode is Dr Michelle Ellis. She has over two decades of experience in teaching and education. She works at ECU as the Outreach and Engagement Co-ordinator in the School of Science, where she is currently working on a number of projects involving our science and engineering students, local high schools, and specific programs for girls and women in STEM. She is also provides consultation to improve education in the Indigenous communities. Join me in this episode to hear Michelle speak about these and more.
My guest in this episode is Tarun Patel. He is a recent graduate from ECU and works at Woodside Energy as a Cyber Security Analyst. During high-school, his favourite subject was chemistry, but he decided to make the switch to cyber security when he joined university. He shares this journey with us and talks about his work experience during the COVID lock-down, and how a group project at uni led to his first job.
Tarun also talks about the importance of gaining the basic skills, getting into CTFs early and advantageous of having good mentors.
My guest in this episode is Adam Walker, a student at Edith Cowan University doing his undergraduate studies in cyber security. He is currently completing Work Integrated Learning at an organisation here in Perth where he works on projects related to penetration testing, and governance, risk and compliance (GRC).
I have taught Adam before and he has been an excellent student. He definitely stands out in his work ethic and how he approaches his studies. I will be talking to Adam about these and how he is working towards his aspiration to work in digital forensics and incident response (DFIR).
In this episode, Mayank Mehra shares his experiences as a successful international student and his entry into industry after university studies. He gives valuable advice to current and future cyber security students aiming to get a job in this field. After graduating from Edith Cowan University with a Master of Cyber Security, he started working as a Cyber Security Analyst at the Department of The Premier and Cabinet in Western Australia. In addition to being a top student, he also did a few extra things that made him more technically competent as well as more competitive in the job market. He has expertise in software development, vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, secure software review, and cyber security governance.
In this episode, I will be talking to my guest, Lt. Col. Hussain Ibrahim about cyber radicalisation. He is currently a PhD candidate at Edith Cowan University in Australia. Prior to this, he was the Head of Department of Research and Publications of the National Counter Terrorism Centre in the Maldives, and has over 23 years of experience in the defence sector.
His PhD research is on the detection of online radicalisation in the Maldivian language. We will be talking about this based on his experience and the new research he has commenced.
