Bryan Fischer here with today’s Life and Liberty Minute. A select committee even now, with a February 15 deadline, is trying to cobble together a border security bill that will make everybody happy. It can’t be done. Nancy Pelosi will never support funding for the wall, so she will kill this bill before it even gets a vote. But the Pentagon informed Congress this week that the President, as commander-in-chief, already has authorization in federal law to start building a wall to stop drug trafficking without needing to go to Congress for permission or funding. The president should prepare his directive so it can be issued immediately after negotiations on the border security bill collapse. He should send the Army Corps of Engineers to the border right now, and bulk up our military presence so the Corps can be protected while it builds. Then when day breaks on February 16, he can and should put them to work.
