I was approached by a guy in California, a friend of a friend, who owns multiple gyms, training programs for all kinds of people, amputees, long term illnesses, long-term Covid, mental health problems, addiction problems, people trying to loose weight etc etc. He heard some of my mixes and tunes and asked if I could help him out as the kids and adults were sick of listening to the same old repetitive music and speeches. I made the mix with certain tunes that range from different beats per minute, ranging from an average heart rate of 70 BPM, right up to 130 BPM, so people can get a good work out and take breathers/rests in-between particular exercises.
BE WARNED THIS IS NOT A HOUSE MUSIC MIX! THIS IS A ONE OFF! (or maybe not?).
So a few weeks back a dear friend Sharon Glackin, wonderful and Beautiful (inside & out) who has known me from the day I was born, babysitted me, my brother and sister, asked how she could listen to my mixes/tunes etc. I advised her that they might not be her cup of tea, (as the saying goes, not everyone understands House Music, it's a Spiritual thing)Long story short, she had a listen and I think she was being polite saying she liked some of it :/ We Lived next door when we were growing up for 10 years, and both families still keep in touch :)
So she inspired me and I set myself a challenge to make a DJ mix from a lot of my Dad's vinyl (RIP) who had parties in 10 Mount Street, where we grew up, that gained legendery status. It was a tough challenge, not only mixing, remixing, re editing the tunes, but the sheer amount of tunes I could've made a year long mix lol.
Anyway, I hope you are all safe and well and I hope the mix puts a little smile on your faces. Take care, Stay Safe, Peace Out xox ;)
I found it! I finally found it! after moving house. The cassette tape, yes cassette tape (You'll have to explain what that is to the millenials) that changed my life. I had just returned from living in America to Belfast 98/99, to start my Degree. I returned to this new style of music which was right up my street. I eventually returned to my home city and was told about this secret club called Bar Zu*. I couldn't believe my eyes when I went into it, it was like stepping into a fancy club in Manhattan, Soho London or San Francisco. It was empty, the music that was being played didn't suit the club, so being a cocky confident young man, I made a mix tape on vinyl with my 1210's, and gave it to the owner David Heaney (03/04), telling him, I'll change this place. He was reluctant at the start but this mix changed our lives forever, Giving me my 1st residency, playing with some of the best and most famous Dj's in the UK and the world ;)
Everybody needs a little Funk & House music in their lives durinng these difficult times. Stay safe folks, Peace & Love People
