Our mission is to help people experience healthier and deeper relationships with God, themselves, and others. This Podcast is an extension of our mission. We believe that God has designed us to live from Joy in a thriving community. We define Joy as - "the experience of the deep knowing that someone is glad to be with you no matter what." That is the good news. We believe that true spiritual formation, character transformation, and personal and spiritual resilience, happens in communities where attachment, belonging, and identity exist. In this Podcast we will explore topics and give practical tools that, when practiced, will strengthen relational health, making living in deeper, more meaningful communities possible where the lasting transformation we all long to see can flourish.
WITH-ness: The experience of being deeply connected with God and others through joy, presence, mutual delight, trust, safety, and shared life. A relational environment where people become more fully alive because they are deeply known, genuinely loved, and continually invited to grow. ~ Table & Well
Healthy marriages don't usually collapse because people stop loving each other. They slowly drift from connection to control. Every unhealthy posture in marriage is an attempt to secure something good—security, confidence, fulfillment, or significance—but through fear and control rather than relationship. Throughout this series, we're going to discover that beneath nearly every conflict lies a deeper question: What are we really longing for?
And beneath every unhealthy pattern lies another: What are we afraid of?
Most couples assume their biggest problems are communication, conflict, parenting, finances, or intimacy. But what if those are only symptoms of something much deeper?
In this opening episode, Tennison and Ginelle introduce a powerful new framework for understanding why marriages become disconnected—not because couples stop loving one another, but because fear quietly begins replacing trust, curiosity, and joy.
You'll discover the five relational postures that shape every marriage and learn why living "WITH" one another changes everything.
If you've ever wondered why your marriage feels different than it once did, this conversation will help you understand why—and offer hope for a different way forward.

I have noticed that I am spending more time when people are talking thinking about, how does that make you feel, where is that coming from. More looking at it from that side and giving more space for that." ~ Lissa Wilke

Maturity stages build on each other. They have a compounding effect. You cannot fully complete any stage without having completed the one before it, so it's important to go back and check for gaps and work on getting those closed up, so you can more fully be who God created you to be in your current stage of life.
The Elder stage of Maturity is the most crucial and lease reached stage of maturity. Without True Elders in our community we fail to know who we are and how it is for us, as humans to act. The goal of Elders is to sacrificially care of the community, with joy. We are living in the result of a world without True Elders.
Join Tennison and Ginelle for the conclusion of the Relational Maturity Revisited Series. In this episode they explore what happens when people are placed into the position of elder before they are mature enough to be there. When you look across the landscape the Christian world you see this everywhere. The overall health of communities, organizations, and churches have severely suffered. It is not uncommon for the "elder to soon" be the cause unintial harm, pain, or trauma to their community.

You will know when a person has graduated from the child level of maturity to the adult level because he will shift from being a self-centered child to a both-centered adult. While a child needs to learn me-centered fairness (how do I make it fair for me), an adult learns we-centered fairness (how do I make it fair for us). Your value is not based on your maturity, but maturity is valuable. A person fully functioning in their God-given potential is a HUGE value to the community. Maturity increases the success and satisfaction of marriages, parenting, leadership, etc.
There are 5 stages of maturity; Infant, Child, Adult, Parent Elder. In this episode Tennison & Ginelle will begin unpacking the Infant stage of maturity, and talking about the Needs and Tasks of this stage. If both the needs and task have not been completed you will not be fully mature in this stage of life.
Needs - what we need from our community
Tasks - what we need to learn for ourselves

Those Maturity Indicators are the primary framework that almost everything we do is built on.
Join Tennison and Ginelle as they introduce you to The Life Model and it's Maturity Indicators and explain the impact it has and is having in their lives and the lives of those they serve. The LIFE Model suggests that people need five things in order to thrive:

The capacity to recover from things that go wrong (de-synchronizations)
To mature as they get older
To live from their identities (hearts)

Truth is, they were first, and foremost, created to give us the ability to live in relationship, and appreciation is the current on which they run. And it keeps your RCs ON and humming. Appreciation involves the recognition, enjoyment, and full understanding of the value of something that you can touch, taste, see, hear, or feel, (nature), or have experienced.
Living in a constant state of appreciation is crucial for our own wellbeing and the deepening of our relationships.
Join Tennison & Ginelle as they discuss the power of Interactive Appreciation. Listen in as they explain what it is and share how this simple practice changed their lives. Hear stories of how others have been impacted by practicing this simple tool.

"LIFE UNDER, OVER, FROM, and FOR GOD each seeks to use God to achieve some other goal. God is seen as a means to an end. For example, LIFE FROM GOD uses him to supply our material desires. LIFE OVER GOD uses him as the source of principles or laws. LIFE UNDER GOD tries to manipulate God through obedience to secure blessings and avoid calamity. And LIFE FOR GOD uses him and his mission to gain a sense of direction and purpose.”
“But LIFE WITH GOD is different because its goal is not to use God, its goal is God. He ceases to be a device we employ or a commodity we consume. Instead God himself becomes the focus of our desire. But before we can really desire God, we must have a clear understanding of who he is and what he is like. The reason most people gravitate to one of the other four postures is because they’ve never received a clear vision of who God is, and so they settle for something less.”
In this episode Tennison and Ginelle conversation centers around what living a LIFE WITH GOD looks like, presented in the book 'WITH: Reimagining The Way You Relate to God' by Skye Jethani. The LIFE WITH GOD means treasuring him above all else. The goal is not to use God, the goal is God. The other four postures use God as a means to an end. Those with an incomplete or tainted view of God either want to use Him or dismiss Him
God is not a device we use or a commodity we consume. God, himself is the focus of our desire. But if we don't have a clear understanding of who he is and what he is like we will gravitate to one of the other four postures. Those with a full clear picture of God want nothing less than to be with him. Once we see and understand who and what God truly is, He will cease to be how we acquire our treasure, and become our treasure. Listen in as Tennison & Ginelle begin this compelling discussion.

LIFE FOR GOD is the fourth posture that Skye Jethani talks about. The LIFE FOR GOD posture is motivated by a fear of living an insignificant life. The mission or the task becomes the center of the Christian life. Join Tennison and Ginelle as they begin to untangle this very popular stance in the life of christians. If not checked the mission controls almost everything: time, relationships, health, spiritual depth, ethics, and convictions. In advanced stages, missionalism means doing whatever it takes to solve the problem. In its worst iteration, the end always justifies the means. The family goes; health is sacrificed; integrity is jeopardized; God connection is limited. The goal is to do this life WITH God.

In this episode Tennison and Ginelle conversation centers around what living a LIFE FROM GOD looks like, presented in the book 'WITH: Reimagining The Way You Relate to God' by Skye Jethani. LIFE FROM GOD is the third posture that Skye Jethani talks about. People that live in this posture believe that God exists to supply what we need or desire. Receiving God’s gifts is the entirety of our relationship with Him. They have reduced God to a Genie to grant is our desires. Living here Feeds into our selfish nature, it cuts off the redemptive purpose of pain, and in our pursuit of distraction by comfort we forget the One who alone is able to deliver us, and we seek lesser things. When this happens we believe that what we want is want God wants for us. We then truly miss out on the good gifts that the Father wants to give us.

In this episode Tennison and Ginelle conversation centers around what living a LIFE OVER GOD looks like, presented in the book 'WITH: Reimagining The Way You Relate to God' by Skye Jethani. LIFE OVER GOD dismisses religion as irrational superstition and seeks control by discovering how the world works and then directly implementing the right principles. Living a LIFE OVER GOD means that there is no room or need for God. Our desire to control our environment and mitigate our fears no longer require appeasing God. Instead, we view the universe as a machine that we can understand. This reduces and limits God to a reproducible formula and worst than that you stop looking to a relationship WITH God and look to just discern the reliable principles of God.

LIFE UNDER GOD seeks to control the world through religion; by manipulating God through rituals or morality. It's the idea of living under divine rule and following that rule for the sole purpose of avoiding calamity. So when things go wrong or not as well as others we don't have favor with God or he is mad at us. We live this because we fear being subject to the uncontrollable and the happenstances of life.

You know you are in a household.......if someone moves more quietly when you are asleep, ...If people know things about you that you do not know yourself, and if you did know you would seek to hide, ... If you sometimes dream of running away so you wouldn't be so well known, ...If your return from a long trip sparks a spontaneous celebration. In this episode we conclude our conversation with Derek and April as the continue to explore the idea of not being OK. Also, learn how their first time at the Table challenged their previous experiences involving "church" gatherings, but was exactly what they have been looking for. Derek has seen and experienced the level of safety and authenticity but it was in a work setting but not ever in a Christian one. The connection that was felt at the Table was something that they wanted and tried to foster for years.
Derek and April will also answer the question, "The Table to me Is...? Both answers are truly amazing and you don't want to miss it.

What if salvation is actually about attachment?“The only kind of love that helps the brain learn better character is attachment love. The brain functions that determine our character are most profoundly shaped by who we love. Changing character, as far as the brain is concerned, means attaching in new and better ways. Suppose we focused spiritual exercises, and human relationship exercises, less on changing our beliefs, or choices, and more on building attachment love with God and with people. Would that yield the kind of character transformation we yearn to find? The brain’s need for love-that-equals-attachment could explain why spiritual practices sometimes disappoint diligent Christians. A focus on attachment would have profound implications for our understanding of human character, fellowship, and spiritual formation.” **— Jim Wilder, Renovated

If living Whole-Brained is truly how God created us, why don't we? Why does it seem so hard to live relationally? What are we missing, or is this really just a unrealistic utopian dream? Or does it simply come back full circle to maturity?
Tennison and Ginelle conclude their conversation, this series, and this season on the Half Brained Church. Join the as they unpack how living a Whole-Brained Christianity relies heavily on growing and living in the fullness of your maturity. They also discuss what happens when there is no clear plan to mature God's people and the important role true mature elders play raising others up into maturity.

Whole-Brained relationally mature pastors and leaders are unfortunately, hard to find today. We, the people, have a very strong propensity to promote people past their maturity level. We see their gifts and jump at the chance to have them lead us. But in doing so we tend to sacrifice the importance of relational connections that God designed us to live in.
In this episode, Tennison and Ginelle will be discussing what Whole-Brained relational mature pastors and leaders look like. What the character traits that we should be looking for, and be seen, in our leaders. What is the purpose of the titles, Apostle, Pastor, Prophet, Teacher, Evangelist, that we give our leaders.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
Living Whole-Brained is the way that God design us to live from the beginning. And Jesus modeled this for us. Everything he did was relational, however He did not forgo knowledge and spiritual disciplines. Somehow, over time we have swung the pendulum to the completely opposite side. We forgo the true relational aspects that we were created to live and thrive in and functionally live in the knowledge, truth, program, and spiritual discipline side of our brain. And we think that is how transformation happens. This is not the roadmap that Jesus left us.
Join Tennison and Ginelle as they begin to unpack Whole-Brained Christianity. In this episode they will revisit the 4 ingredients for healthy soil and what a Whole-Brained church could look like.

Enemy Mode: We have all heard this phrase. This is what happens when you are trying to win or feel that everyone is against you. Most of us have ventured into this territory. However, did you know that there are 2 types of enemy mode, Simple and Peditory.
Join Tennison & Ginelle as they discuss and dissect these two very different ways to operate in enemy mode, the effects of each, and what is happening in your brain and the brain of the narcissist while this is happening.

Self Justification is the go to response when corrected for people who have narcissistic tendencies. Since they cannot metabolize shame relationally and their need to feel special is driving them, deflection is key. Self justification can come in many forms, everything from, "You'll never understand in a million years!" to, "How dare you question me!" to " God told me to do this."
Listen in as Tennison and Ginelle look at this narcissistic tendency and continue to dissect this relational infection of narcissism

Join Tennison and Ginelle as they continue to unpack the relational infection known as narcissism. What are the effects on the people who are under the leadership of a narcissist?
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
Would you be able to identify narcissist behavior? Most people believe that they can. If so, why are there so many narcissist people leading churches, businesses and communities? Believe it or not we actually look for, find, put in leadership, and hire people with major narcissist tendencies and call them strong leaders and follow them blindly. All while there is a wake of destruction behind them.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
How does shame and narcissism intersect? What happens when people are not taught how to metabolize shame? Join Tennison and Ginelle as they continue their conversation on the relational infection. In this episode they will continue to unpack this disease and the motivations behind the actions and motive of the narcissist.

Narcissism: The relational infection. Narcissism may not be what you think is actually very easy to overlook and encourage. Sometimes it is hard to recognize until it is too late. The church, in its current structure, is the perfect breeding ground for narcissism to grow, thrive and return if the relational connection of its people is not strong. Join Tennison and Ginelle as they begin to unpack this insidious disease.

Healthy correction is an important factor in character development and shame is an important part of healthy correction. We have talked about the differences between healthy shame and toxic shame and how each of them can be and have been used and how God has designed shame to be used and felt.
In this episode Tennison and Ginelle finish their conversation on healthy correction by taking a good look at toxic shame and why it must be rejected at all cost! The power of shame was never meant to be welded the way most commonly do. But until God's way becomes the norm, we must recognize and reject shame and correction that is toxic in its nature.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
Tennison and Ginelle continue their conversation on healthy correction. In this episode they discuss a topic that is rarely ever talked about in a positive light. It's avoided, and has been used to abuse and manipulate, but used correctly, is actually very powerful and needed for healthy correction. Shame! Shame is an emotion that God has hardwired into in our brain, so we must learn how to use it. Join us as we unpack this controversial thought and see how God has designed us to feel shame but not wear it.

Join Tennison and Ginelle as they discuss some very easy ways that churches and community build their group identity around very toxic and potential destructive things. These usually start as a "great way to minister" to a group of people, but if gone unchecked you can begin to identity yourself as your malfunction, (who we are when we are not acting like ourselves). When this happens we erode, and can misrepresent our true identity.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
Forming a healthy and strong group identity is not easy. We need a strong group identity to remind us who we are and how it is for us to act. A lot of the time the group identity that is formed in both churches and communities is a very shallow one. Shallow group identity do not bring lasting transformation. They don't remind us of who we are or how it is for us to act They are very dangerous and really don't give us a lot to hold on to.
In this episode, Tennison and Ginelle will be talking about different ways we try to form strong group identities that are, in reality, very weak and shallow. These group identities have missed the mark on who we should be identifying with and do not help us transform into who God has designed us to be.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
Join us as we continue our conversation on Group Identity. What if Jesus was constantly creating Identity statement for His followers to grab ahold to? What if the Sermon on Mount was one big identity statement? How would that change how we read it? Tennison and Ginelle will discus these questions and more in this episode.

Join Tennison and Ginelle as they continue their conversation on Group Identity. In every relational interaction we have, we are always asking two questions; Who are we, and How is it like my people to act? These actions, responses, expressions, happen pre-consciously, and reveal your character. Listen in as we deep deeper into Group Identity

Join us as we continue the conversation and talk through the four ways to build Hesed in your community:
Hesed is the relational glue that holds us together. That glue does not apply itself to your relationships. Building Hesed just doesn't happen on its own. It takes intentional time and practice. In this episode we will focus on how "Sharing weakness and being vulnerable" in safe community builds Hesed. We also introduce how narcissism directly opposes Hesed and why narcissist people are threatened by it.

Hesed/Attachment is so important in creating identity. Our connection to God is directly connected to our connection, positive or negative, with the people around us. If our earthly attachments are based in strength, steadfastness, and love our attachment to God is usually the same, and our identity is strong and secure. However if our earthly attachments have been build on fear, weakness and withdrawal, we will inevitably attach to God in the same way and our identity will follow. Join Tennison and Ginelle as they talk about the importance of strong, healthy, joy fueled attachments.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
God's plan for his creation was never for us to be "saved" or "born again", it was and is for us to be attached to Him with a bonded or sticky love. He also intended for us to be attached to each other in this same way. So what does it mean to be deeply attached or bonded to God, yourself, and others?
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
What are some practices and practical things that you can do to begin cultivating a Joy Fueled community? Listen as Tennison and Ginelle talk about the practical things that they have begun to incorporate into their rhythms of life to create Joy Fueled community.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
Joy is the first ingredient for strong, healthy, transformative communities. So many churches/communities function without joy as their fuel. The result is usually a community fueled by fear, shame, and performance where true transformation is not produced. In this episode Tennison and Ginelle will dig deep into the benefits of Joy Fueled Communities. Communities where joy, love and healthy connection are the lens in which community is seen.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
True transformation, Identity, Character Development, Spiritual Formation and Discipleship can only happen in healthy communities and relationship with those we have belonging. If this is the case, how do we create, cultivate, and maintain these types of communities. According to Jim wilder and Michel Hendricks there are 4 key ingredients to make that happen:
In this episode we will begin unpacking the first of the four; Joy
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
The western church has built almost everything it does on delivering information and telling people how to live this Christian life. This way of "ministry" has not not produced the true transformation we all desire. True transformation, true discipleship, only comes inside of healthy relationship and that is what is missing from the western church. That is how Jesus did it with His disciples. We are designed to live, learn and grow in community. Community is hard and messy and beautiful and rewording. Community is were we are shown how to live this Christian life, and how is it like for me to act.
In this episode we will explore why healthy relationship is a, if not the, most important piece to Transformation, Identity, Character Development, Spiritual Formation and Discipleship.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
Transformation=truth+good choices+power.
This statement sounds true and is widely excepted in most church circles today. What if I told you that is not the formula for transformation? What if I told you that this formula was missing a key ingredient? What I told you that this formula was a Half Brained formula?
Join us as we explore the primary functions the left and right brain have, the roles that they play, and why true transformation, spiritual formation and character development can only happen when both are engaged in discipleship.
This series is an adaptation of the book "The Other Half of Church" by Jim Wilder & Michel Hendricks
"Spiritual formation is the central task of the local congregation, the primary task that Jesus gave Christian leaders." ~ Dallas Willard~
If spiritual formation is the central task of the church, how are we doing? Are we seeing and experiencing lasting deep transformation? Are a lot of christian communities strong and connected, or weak and shallow? If we are honest with ourselves, I think we will answer the latter to both questions. Why?
In this podcast we will begin to lay the foundation to answer those questions. Join us as we take a deep look at how your spiritual growth can be revolutionized by understanding the role your brain plays in spiritual formation, character development, and discipleship.
In this series we will explore the four ingredients to develop and maintain vibrant whole brained, transformational communities.

Join us for part 4 of the Elder stage of Maturity. We will be unpacking what true elders in our communities should look like, the dangers of becoming and elder too soon, and what are the practical tasks that elders need to do to continue their growth and maturity in this stage of life. What if the elders in our communities were true elders and where able to, handle criticism and rejection , speak the truth in love even when it is not easy or popular, serve without being appreciated, encourage needed growth and change, and create Identity not standards? What if these where done for the betterment and growth of their community. What if?

Every stage of maturity has needs and Tasks to be completed to fully mature in that stage of maturity. Even though the elder stage is the last stage there is still a maturing process that must occur. We will be discussing the tasks that each elder must complete to be a fully mature elder that can be everything that their community needs them to be. True elders must;
These, plus a few more, are essential for elders to take their place in their community. What if every adult in the elder stage of life made completing these tasks a priority in their life? What if?

Join us as we begin to unpack the last stage of maturity, the elder stage. Elder are "Free Agents of Joy" . We believe that there are a ton of people in this stage of life that are just waiting to be recognized so they can step into their role and bring joy to their community. However we, (Adults and Parents), have not recognized or invited our elders to the table to lead, guide and just be. Somewhere along the way we have stopped valuing the Elders that are around us, and we rarely want to become what we don't value. What if, we begin to value our elders and becoming a healthy, involved, and available elder was the goal, purpose, and highlight of our life. What if?

In part 4 of the parent stage of maturity we will be discussing practical things that you can do to grow in maturity and how you can help others grow as well. Remember you are someones community. We will also hear a special message for Fathers. God has given Fathers a very important role in the lives of their family and specifically children. In those early adult years ,13-17, God has inherently put something in kids that knows that they need their dad. Fathers can no longer abdicate role given by God in the home and relay only on mothers to raise the kids. If and when that happens the next generation gets short changed. They are being robbed of the Mother and Father that God intended for them to have. Join us as we continue to unpack how to be fully mature Parents.

In this episode we will take a deeper look at the parent maturity stage and unpack what it looks like for single adults to be parents. Not single parents, but adults who are not married and are taking care of others sacrificially. There are three ways that singles can be parents, supplemental - assisting with training, introduction to the community, protection, stand-in -when a parent is unable to be available for whatever reason at given times, or replacement - when there is a permanent loss of a parent.
We also be looking a the holes that are left in maturity when the skills are not fully developed in the infant, child, or adult stages.

Join us as we continue our discussion on the Adult Stage of Maturity. We all need to have our identity called out of us and our destiny spoken into. That is no truer than when we are journeying from young adult to mature adults. We need to see and experience what it is to be a man or woman. It is not only about balancing a check book and living on your own, it is so much deeper and more important than that. We need mature men to bestow manhood on to boys, and mature women to bestow womanhood on to girls.
