Biography Rosie Paulsen, who has been honored as one of the Fifty Most Influential Hispanic Business Leaders in Florida is a native of Ecuador who came to the United States as a teenager. A public speaker and business trailblazer, Rosie owns Rosie Paulsen Enterprises and S&R Services, a company that brokers Medicare coverage for people all over Tampa Bay. She has received a Leadership Award from the Tampa Bay Hispanic Heritage and is an alumnus of Smart Start Pasco and Inner-City Capital Connection. Ewelina Konyndyk is a Life Coach for Immigrants born in Poland. Before moving to the United States in 2005 Ewelina was working as a Polish Language teacher. Walking home one day, she concluded: Something is missing. These kids need a specific kind of knowledge, more important than Polish language. They need to be taught how to live. But what exactly? Two months later she was 5000 miles away, working for her host family in Michigan. The first weeks there were very hard. Ewelina found herself far outside of her comfort zone, struggling to express basic concepts. The years that followed brought many additional challenges that resulted in a 3 years long identity crisis. Unsure of who she really was, she was desperately trying to be someone she thought others expected her to be. Deep inside she felt confused, ashamed and angry. Her life was not unfolding as she imagined it would. In September 2011 she left her loving husband and returned to Poland hoping to find some answers there. She came back four months later finally feeling at peace. Today Ewelina believes that the long process filled with unnecessary drama could have been avoided if she had a good life coach. I was born in Ecuador. I was diagnosed with bilateral optic nerve atrophy when I was 7. A virus had attacked my optic nerve, and it caused severe damage to my sight. My family immigrated to the United States when I was 14. Moving to the United States was certainly a culture shock. I neither spoke nor read English. I immediately fell in love with the United States and all the opportunities here.
I successfully graduated from Lakewood High School and went on to St Petersburg College. I was determined to succeed and kept looking for opportunities to advance myself. I never let obstacles get me down and keep me from succeeding.
I was Lakewood High School Senior of the Month, Florida Youth Leadership Forum Delegate, received four Merit Awards for Educational Achievement from the Pinellas Braille Group. I volunteered at John Hopkins All Children's Hospital, Great Explorations Children's Museum, the Lighthouse of Pinellas, and the Fountains of Boca Ciega Rehab Unit.

Dr. Susan Truong and her family immigrated to Florida in the mid 1970s from Vietnam, penniless and without speaking English. She learned that these were just obstacles and not excuses.
