Jennifer and Victoria Msumba

Because somewhere along the way, our childhood dreams met the real world.

We are Jennifer and Victoria, sisters who are not only 14 years apart, but I, Jennifer, am autistic and my sister is neurotypical. As we spend more and more time together we realize that those things don't really make a difference in how we relate. Our lives took VERY different paths but we ended up learning the same lessons. We are here to talk, laugh, process our experiences and hopefully pass some wisdom Also...We love you Mom!!!

We can learn a good lesson from our pets...to live in the moment and enjoy the little things.

Also, my sister has mentioned Scarlett, her cat, exactly once. I'm starting to think she doesn't exist..I'm gonna need some proof.

When the heck did I become a turtle?

For us it wasn’t about who finished the race first or last, it was what became of us along the way.

We are sisters born 14 years apart. It feels like we lived in different lifetimes, and as different as things turned out for us, we have learned the same lessons from our ups and downs...and there were many!

Hi I'm Jen, and I am the younger sister. I am a musician and filmmaker, and I also have autism. I survived years in group homes, hospitals and residential schools in my family's attempt to help control my self-harming behaviors. Most of these places were awful, and some down right abusive. But there is one thing I didn't let them steal from me, and that was my heart. I hid my God given joy away until I felt safe to shine. Now I am living a life I never expected...and it is good.

Hi I'm Victoria, the older sister and a single mom of four children. I spent years with homeschooling and trying to be the "perfect" wife and mother. Well...25 years and a divorce later, I have learned that life does not care about your expectations. At 57 I am discovering how to appreciate the person I am and leave the worst behind me. I'm not perfect, none of us are. But darn it I'm going to live my life to the fullest from here on out!

Did you have expectations in your life that didn't quite pan out? We sure have! No matter big or small, things don't always turn out the way we thought they would. But for better or for worse we can always learn something.
