Weekly messages from Gateway Church of Blue Springs, MO. Where our mission is the Know Christ, Make Him Known, and Enjoy the Journey.
God's Word has the power to breathe life into all things. Our own words have the power to be positive or negative.
God calls His Church to run the race the race He's called us to without anything that hinders us and the sin that easily entangles us.
God's calling is a calling to freedom. His desire is that we live differently than the world. He calls us to be a good steward of all that God gives us.
These two values drive us to action with the result of building God's church and taking the message of Christ to the world!!
If we strive to invest in these two values and two relational circles we will become the people that God calls us to become and we'll leave something that's Eternal.
The Church is the bride of Christ that Jesus loves ferociously. God calls us to partner with Jesus and one another to love, serve, and invest our lives building His Church.
God calls us to follow Him. Growth happens when we spend personal time with Jesus and live in Biblical Community.
Jesus intentionally meets a woman in the middle of the day where she was and He shared God's love with her.
The Bible calls God's people to live our lives fully without regrets and to fight the good fight, keep the faith and finish the race.
The Christian life is about radiating joyfully because of who God is, who we are in Him and what He's promised to do.
Jesus enters Jerusalem during the annual Festival of Passover. We’ll follow Jesus as He enters the city and experience the sights and sounds as He moves to finish the mission.
Roles of the Holy Spirit. The Fruit of the Spirit. Walk in the Spirit/Live in the Spirit. The Promise of the Holy Spirit.
"Time is your most precious gift, because you only have a set amount of it." - Rick Warren
In a world full of busyness, packed schedules & full plates - Jesus made it very clear . . . Love GOD & Love PEOPLE.
There's power in our stories. We must understand, know & share Gods story in our lives!
God longs for our marriages to be lived out for the long haul not just to survive but to thrive.
God longs for our marriages to fight for one another and not with one another. There is an enemy-but it's not our spouse
God made men and women in His image with great care and distinction for the purpose of being glory to Him and to encourage one another to grow in their walk with Christ
God longs for our marriages to fight for one another and not with one another. There is an enemy-but it's not our spouse
Everybody wants to be a part of something where they invest in something that matters and is Eternal.
God did far more than just come to save us. He longs to have a thriving personal relationship with us!
God's Word is a gift to God's people to understand who He is, who we are, and what He wants to do in and through us.
What does the Bible say about Christ-followers and persecution? How are we called to live?
How does God respond to the Supreme Court Hearing on June 26, 2015? Bigger than that...how do Christ-followers love those that struggle with the homosexual community.
What do God's people do with our nation's highest value-tolerance? Are you a tolerant person? Is God tolerant? Can we be too tolerant?
God calls us to impress upon our kids the most important thing, having a relationship with Him. There are many factors in the world that have an influence on our children every day, but we as parents have the opportunity to have the most influence. We don't have to have all the answers; spiritual leadership is helping our children take the NEXT spiritual step in their lives.
God calls all followers to serve others in a way that brings glory to God! The way we serve is a response to how we love and worship God
God made us all unique. He's given us spiritual gifts, heartbeat, ability, personality, and experiences to redeem us and to serve in the kingdom.
James gives us a picture of Christ coming and encourages us to not quit and finish the race. He speaks to the rich and reminds us to be patient in suffering. He reminds them of the power of prayer. In the hard times God galvanizes our faith and calls us to finish well and be concerned with other Christ-followers
James calls Christ-followers to live holy lives, seek God's will and understand the spiritual battle with the enemy. God is the only One who knows us down to the motives of the heart. He gives us a few practical ways we should fight against the pressures of the world and the attacks of the enemy.
James says that our faith will be demonstrated by the way we speak to others. Our words can either bring life or death. He speaks about one of the biggest challenges is to overcome. A Christ-follower strives to honor God with every area of their lives...including their tongue.
James zeros in on the fact that faith moves us beyond what we believe to how we live. Believing in a set of ideas is one things but the proof is in the pudding-in how we demonstrate our faith in how we live, love and trust.
The book of James gives us a great look at what it looks like to live a life of faith. James opens up by talking about the difficult things that come our way and how faith gives us perspective in the midst of the hard times.
Jesus approaches a man who's been paralyzed for 38 years and asked him a very important question, "Do you want to get well?"
A highly religious man named Nicodemus came to meet Jesus at night because he had seen something different about Him. He wanted to know who Jesus was and how someone can be saved.
The question is asked: "What must I do to inherit eternal life?" A man came to Jesus and asked maybe the most important question in all of human history. The gift that Jesus offers this man is forgiveness, grace, a personal relationship with God through Christ & the promise of Heaven, but he chooses what he has instead of what God offers him.
Jesus is ultimately aware of all of our needs. A man filled with leprosy was filled with courage to meet Jesus and ask Him for help and healing. Jesus is always moved by our needs and our willingness to come to Him with all our needs.
Some of our greatest pain comes from the fallout in relationships. A friend moves on, a spouse that breaks their promises, the fallout of divorce. It leaves us with the pain and the questions, "How do I move forward?"
We live in a world that is constantly seeking to find acceptance. We want to be accepted. We battle rejection in school, at work, in our family, from a previous marriage and even from our parents. The enemy longs to lie to us about what God says about us. God's truth declares who we are because of Christ.
Melissa Bardwell talks about how to craft your personal identity statement in Christ using scripture. Handouts are available through the church office or your life group leaders.
We live in a culture that equates success to identity. We strive to achieve, out perform, get ahead, accomplish, be driven, prove our worth by our success. Void of Godly purpose it leaves us empty, exhausted and unfulfilled. It leaves us with a shaky identity.
The enemy longs to leverage our past to keep us from the good things that God wants to do in and through us. Our past can paralyze us and rob us of the identity that Christ died for us to embrace. If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. The old is gone, the new has come!
Image is everything. We spend an obsessive amount of time in image management because we don't see who God sees and we haven't believed what He says about us. Our Creator is the only one who gets to define who we are.
That first Easter Sunday morning is the defining moment in all of human history! If Jesus rose from the grave—He is Lord. If that’s true—it changes everything!
We’re going to look at what Jesus went through on that Good Friday in the physical death of Jesus.
God uses defining moments to transform our faith and everything about us. The Bible’s full of amazing stories where God shows up and people are changed forever!
Serving changes those we serve & builds our faith. God calls us away from our comfort zones to serve those that God puts in our lives.
People with unshakable faith have walked through painful times and experienced God’s power, comfort and promises in an incredible way. We look at a powerful story in John 11 that gives us greater clarity of how we walk through hard times and where is God in the midst of our pain.
People with unshakable faith have people in their lives that God sent to sharpen, encourage, comfort and challenge us to become the people that He created us to be. Not only do we have providential relationships but God calls us to be providential relationships with the people that He puts in our path.
People with an unshakable faith develop strong private disciplines. We focused on the private discipline of percentage giving in Malachi 3. We as Christ-followers are called to reflect the God that we serve and to trust Him with every single area of our lives—including our money. This discussion is about a Biblical definition of generosity. Do we really trust God with every area of our lives?
Jesus spoke about the importance of putting God’s Word into practice in Matthew 7:24-29. We want to be people that build our lives on the Word of God. It’s not just hearing or understanding God’s Word—it’s doing something with what God’s truth and plan for our lives. It makes all the difference!
Imagine what your life would look like if you really believed that there’s a God that loves you unconditionally, was committed to what was in your best interest & you could trust to walk with you every single day of your life? We’ve created a plan for us to begin this journey with Jesus.
Relationships are the key to an abundant life. What is something you can eliminate from your life in order to make room for something better?
The most important things, the most rewarding things, the most sacred things involve risk. There is always a risk-reward quotient, which determines whether it’s worth doing. God calls us to risk connection and take a step towards authentic Biblical community. It’s a big step worth taking!
God created us and hardwired us for community. Circles are better than rows. Life Groups are the vehicle that God uses to transform us. Growth happens in the context of relationships. God created the church for the journey.
Why is it that we have such a hard time believing that God loves us? We always have to attach some condition to it. What we find in that very first Christmas is that we are so loved! John 3:16 is the message that settles everything. God loves me. God still loves me. God loves me in spite of me. God never stopped loving me. God will not stop loving me. God loves me period!
God’s message in the very first Christmas is that we might understand our purpose. It’s way more than a holiday. Christmas changes everything!
The very first Christmas was far from peaceful. We can learn so much about the very first Christmas and how it impacts our Christmas. God have His greatest gift in the midst of our greatest need!
-God's desire is to work through every family to demonstrate His story of restoration and redemption. -God doesn't use perfect pictures. He uses broken people.
There are all kinds of reasons for the purpose of our parenting. The Bible gives us a divine plan for how we invest in our kids well. The purpose of our parenting is to teach and train our children to love God, love others and leave home. Our objective is not to raise great kids; its to raise great adults.
All of us grew up with a broken family picture. There are no perfect family pictures in the Bible. God doesn’t use perfect pictures, He uses broken people. God calls us to evaluate our family of origin and ask for His help in changing us so that we can have a different family. God calls us to invest in our families and leave a legacy of faith.
Adoption is gospel centered. It’s near the heart of God. Treasured Ministry casts vision about the importance of how God redeems people’s family picture.
We live in a world that struggles to have hope. We learn that hope is found in a blood-stained cross and an empty tomb. It give us a reason to live, hope beyond this life and communicates what we’re worth. You matter to God!
Every person on the planet has experienced the painful words, actions or decision of someone else that left us wounded. The question that we all have is, “What do we do with this?” God gives us practical insight and answers the question, “Why should I forgive?”
In a world full of worry and anxiety…God gives us application that moves us towards peace and trust. Jesus said 8 powerful words in Matthew 14:27—Take courageous! It is I. Don’t be afraid. Worry or peace—the decision is ours.
When the courageous life of Jesus collides with our lives—we become contagious. Mark 2 speaks about the story of 4 guys who brought their friends to Jesus. God calls us to share God’s story of redemption with others.
The mission of the church is to help others know the love of God through the life of Jesus. Dangerous churches are made up of dangerous people, willing to take dangerous risks, to save people from a dangerous destiny—Gene Apple.
Jesus prayer for His church is that we’d be one. When we’re one—the world will know that we’re His disciples. “In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things love.”—Barton W. Stone & Thomas Campbell. We have to fight for our oneness and love each other well.
Jesus went all in so that we could know the love of the Father and be adopted into His family. The Bible describes the church as a bride, a flock, and a family. God calls us to be committed to His Body, to serve whole heartedly, give sacrificially, belong in a Life Group, and invest in the mission.
The church was God’s idea. God’s vision for the church is that we would partner with God to rescue and redeem those that God’s loves. The church is all about Jesus.
Our lives should reflect the community of God in which we live. Others should be able to see what team we are playing for. And we should live like we will win.

A secret worth looking into....how do we learn to be content whatever the circumstances.
God is calling us to a life of Joy in Him. Void of worry, but full of his Peace. He is also calling us to know him, so we can withstand difficulties.
