In this episode, Sarah Spiegel joins me to talk about Loftie, an awsome product created to help kids & families get better and deeper sleep.
Sarah Spiegel is the founder of the New York city based boutique agency With Sara PR. She leads a team of seasoned vets with the reputation of launching startups into the market and taking established brands to the next level, specializing in consumer products and apps and executive level representation.
Their holistic approach combines traditional PR strategies with new digital and affiliate methods in a thoughtful, dynamic way. One of those companies is Loftie.
Loftie believes that getting good sleep is one of the most important things we can do to increase our overall wellness. Bad sleep is closely tied to diabetes, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, stroke, obesity, hypertension – the list goes on. One out of two people in the developed world would not get the sleep they need this week, and this massive global sleep deficit results in lost wealth, lost health and lost lives. Loftie's mission is to retake slumberland one good night's sleep at a time.
She talks about the benefits of using it to help families find more peace and calm at bedtime. I have my own Lofite clock and have found myself waking up more peaceful and calmer to the soothing sounds of the clock rather than my phone.

This week's episode features, Elizabeth Brunner the Founder and CEO of StereoType, a pioneering gender-free kids' fashion brand that aims to break-free from traditional gendered clothing by creating what she coined as "blended fashion" — a mix of girl and boy esthetics that are equal in value and defined by no one.
Inspired by her girl-boy twins to start StereoType, Elizabeth would observe her twins who at a young age would often naturally be drawn to wear pieces from each others' closets to create their own unique blended fashion style that authentically represented who they are and how they wanted to dress. From watching her twins dress, Elizabeth was inspired by the way they joyfully broke the rules of traditional dressing and soon realized it was time to unlearn the rules of gendered fashion. She did this by supporting and encouraging her twins to discover their individuality by embracing a blended fashion approach where any piece of clothing could be worn by any child, regardless of gender. StereoType offers a wide range of stylish, comfortable, high-quality clothing and accessories for children ages 4-14, enabling them to express themselves through their wardrobe choices without being limited by societal expectations, limits, and stereotypes.
Elizabeth recently named her twins' co-founders of StereoType, and they have been the leading brand ambassadors since the launch of the brand in 2020, participating in fittings, photoshoots, social media content creation, while learning the behind-the-scenes operations of the business. Both kids are offering their own creative input on the designs of the clothing as well as testing out the products to make sure they're play-worthy. StereoType is the second disruptive fashion company Elizabeth has started. After studying fashion design at California College of the Arts, she found herself at odds with wasteful fashion industry standards. This led her to launch her first fashion business Piece x Piece, a pioneering line of one-of-a-kind, high-end garments that reused discarded sample swatches and leftover fabric from larger fashion houses that would typically be sent to landfill.

This week's episode features Caitlin Meister, the Founding Director of The Greer Meister Group, a New York City-based private tutoring and educational consulting practice. Her interest in how children learn began when she was young, and she began teaching children and teens while pursuing her own education. Inspired by her own educational experiences at the Little Red School House, Stuyvesant High School, and Wesleyan University, she went on to receive additional training through the Harvard Graduate School of Education and in the Orton-Gillingham approach for teaching students with language-based learning differences.
Meister has extensive experience working with gifted learners and supporting neurodiverse students, and she is dedicated to a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach. Becoming a mom of two had a profound impact on her work. She, like all parents, wanted to provide the best educational opportunities for her children. She began offering educational consulting, connecting with other parents, and supporting them throughout their children’s academic careers.
Today, Meister's team of passionate tutors works with students around the world. She has been recognized by New York Magazine as providing “The Best Online Classes for Kids,” and as well as the American Library Association for her work with young adults and has appeared in national media including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Parents. In addition to consulting with private clients, Meister speaks and writes on a variety of education topics for consumers, parents, and faculty.
Joyfully Learning, at the Greer Meister Group, believes that education is supposed to help your child shine – not dim your child’s light. Their mission is to make sure that every child they work with feels seen, heard, and respected in school and that parents are empowered to advocate for their children’s learning needs.

Jessalyn Burden is the founder and owner of Inspired Tutors LLC. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi, class of 2020, with degrees in Elementary and Special Education.
As the oldest of 5, 3 of which struggled in school, Jessalyn has always had a heart for children with learning disabilities. She worked for two years in the public school system as a Special Education Teacher, and it was during that second year that she realized that she needed to do something different; that the children needed something different. And after carrying the workload of 3 teachers, with a caseload of over 50+ students, as well as the guilt of not being able to give those struggling children what they needed...it all became too much.
Therefore, in June 2022 she launched Inspired Tutors, a virtual tutoring platform for children K-6 with and without learning disabilities. Her mission is to give parents and children (homeschooled and those in public school) additional support and resources so that more children do not get left behind.

Are you a working parent? If so, what does work-life balance mean to you? Well, Adrienne Paolini of Child and Company is redefining work-life balance for the modern family.
Adrienne is the owner of Child and Company, a family-friendly co-working space offering private offices alongside child care. As a working professional, she saw the opportunity to create a flexible space where parents could drop-in with their young children to gain more productivity and peace of mind. Lael Stone is a TEDx talk speaker, educator, and author on a mission to create wellness in families through education, connection and communication.
If you were to ask Lael what it is that she does, she could sum it up in a sentence; “I speak for the heart of the child.”
Whether it is supporting parents to understand their children, helping adults process their own childhood trauma, or creating education systems that value emotional awareness – it all comes back to connection and compassion.
She began working in childbirth education and postnatal care in 2004 – working with couples through pregnancy, birth and the first few years of parenting as a Doula, Calmbirth® Practitioner and Postnatal trauma Counsellor. Working in this field certainly showed her the importance of connection and trust. From a woman trusting her baby and birthing body to learning all about how to parent with presence and awareness.
However, her children have facilitated her greatest learning and self-discovery. From challenging and unexpected birth experiences to navigating fears and traumas, to holding on tight through the teen years, they continue to show her what is possible when you are free to be the true essence of yourself.
In this episode, Lael and I have an honest conversation about what it means to be an aware parent and how to deeply connect with our children.

Melissa Reilly, Psy.D. is a mom of two boys, a clinical psychologist, and mom coach passionate about helping moms separated from their mother by physical distance, estrangement, or death, move from feelings of insecurity, isolation, and overwhelm to a place of resilience.
Through her personal and professional experience, she has come to recognize that Moms without a mom experience grief as part of their motherhood experience, even if they don’t realize it. The relationship moms have had (or didn’t have) with their mothers impacts how they see themselves but doesn’t define them. She believes it isn’t knowledge and skills that create resilience, but rather it is born through overcoming hardship, having a community, and living by one’s values.
Melissa is honored to walk with moms on their journey to becoming the mom they always wanted to be. Her psychological practice, Shoudt & Reilly Psychological Services has been serving residents of Berks County, Pennsylvania for over 22 years, and she is now expanding her services to include parent coaching focusing on Moms Without a Mom which can be accessed by women all over the world through her website momswithoutamom.com.

Casey McGovern is the founder of the McGovern Foundation, Inc. A non-profit organization, located in South Florida, that focuses on drowning prevention education and bereavement services. Casey brings a unique perspective to the work she does; being a mother of a drowning victim herself, her daughter, Edna Mae passed away after a drowning incident in their backyard pool.
Casey immediately knew she needed to help other families never experience the same heartache as her family did. So, she plugged herself into the community educating caregivers all over the South Florida area. And in 2014, she accepted a position with the Florida Department of Health as the Drowning Prevention Program Manager; where she spent the last 7 years leading all efforts related to drowning prevention. However, Casey felt a nudge on her heart to go back to her roots, and this past summer dove back into working for her family's non-profit organization, the McGovern Foundation. She felt she needed to do more, and not be limited by the bureaucracy of governmental work.
Her goal is to reach the entire State with the education that is so desperately needed. Drowning is the number 1 cause of unintentional death for children 1 to 4 years of age, and although it may be difficult to hear that, there is so much more that can be done to change those statistics.
Cassie bravely and openly shares her story of being a parent of a drowning victim, and how she relied on her faith to gain the strength to move forward & help others after Em passed away. We discuss the surprising risk factors, statistics, myths, and preventable measures that can be taken, as well as the services the McGovern Foundation provides, the misconceptions of secondary drowning, and so much more!

In the second episode, (due to having a low risk, healthy pregnancy with my first born son) I discuss the events that lead me to leave my ob/gyn and go with a midwife, why I chose to have a home birth instead of delivering in a hospital or birthing center, and I explain why it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

The first episode is with my sister Dana, who was 36 weeks pregnant at the time with her first child. She and I discuss her pregnancy journey thus far, how cool it is to have kids at the same time even though we’re 8 years apart in age (my son is 2), and her decision to go the non-traditional route and choose a midwife & birth center. We laugh and shed some tears. Enjoy!
