So here's the deal with this documentary: It's 22 minutes of Kevin Sullivan narrating the life of LM Montgomery while clips of the series and exterior shots of the ocean go by. Another season down, and far less shenanigans ensue than we've seen. With Avonlea reeling from the death of Marilla Cuthbert, it leaves little room for fun and games. But there are still some to be had in the form of Felix King and Davey Keith. This episode came under fire for the use of recycled footage and digital trickery to bring Colleen Dewhurst to life for her final episode, but it wasn't nearly as distracting as we'd read about.

In this episode, Aunt Abigail's old flame, Malcolm MacEwan, reappears after years away in the Yukon. He's really rich now, and wants to rekindle his romance that he once had with Abigail. Abigail wants to live her life of spinsterhood, but blah blah blah, you know what's going to happen. This was a fun episode and it was nice to Rosemary Dunsmore playing against type as Aunt Abigail, a far cry from the cold Katherine Brooke.

Now this is what Avonlea is all about! Keeping the focus of the series on the residents of Avonlea. Taking away the fact that Alec and Janet, and later Hetty leave 5 children alone for 2 days, this is a great episode that shows all the kids in their element. And it's a nice bit of character development for Felicity, who proves to be less of a jerk than she comes off throughout the episode.

Why? Why does this episode exist? Sandwiched right in between two significantly better episodes, Old Lady Lloyd should have stayed in the writer's room and had a few more run throughs with the writers. Marilla invents a beau to get the Avonlea gossips off her back, but when a man with the same name rides into town, Marilla spirals into a web of lies so deep, she's not sure she can get out of it.

The return of two of the most beloved characters in the Avonlea universe return in this episode. Well, beloved to us anyway. Mrs. Rachel Lynde and Marilla Cuthbert return, and they haven't changed one bit since we last saw them. In this episode, Rachel, Sara, Felix and an old codger named Alexander Abraham must be quarantined in the Abraham house after Alexander's hired hand comes down with a severe case of small pox. Shenanigans and Rachel's severe style of order come into play big time this episode.
We also welcome Libby back to the show! The first of hopefully many times throughout the series!

We did it. And boy oh boy, was it a journey. The final hour of The Continuing Story kicks off spectacularly bad, introducing 3 new characters that we're supposed to care about, but it's too little too late. However, unlike the 2nd hour, we do have a few sweet moments that ALMOST make it remember what it was like to be at Green Gables.

Ok, so we were fully prepared to give this miniseries a fair shot after the first hour left with us with a little hope that it may be ok. But then we started the 2nd hour and oh boy, did it squash any hope we had! This was a complete misfire. But thank the heavens that we have Libby back with us to ease the pain of this viewing.

In the 2nd hour of Anne Of Green Gables - The Sequel, Anne continues to hate on Gil, despite numerous people telling her that he loves her. Marilla decides to have Rachel live with her after Thomas's death, Anne begins teaching at the Ladies College, and is almost immediately terrorized by the Pringles, including Jen Pringle, who sounds and looks like a secret killer. We are also reintroduced to a character who may or may not attempt to steal Anne's heart. Not literally steal it, like we're sure Jen Pringle wants to.

Gilbert and Anne finally bury the hatchet, after Anne refused to forgive him for OVER 4 YEARS! And Diana throws some serious shade at Anne, in a moment that has us both questioning whether or not Diana is really that good of a friend.
