Hearing the voice of God is exciting, hearing it for yourself and hearing it for others. Your sanctified imagination is a place where you can experience God in another of his ways of speaking to us.
Alexander is with us for a season and is teaching six modules based on his Doing Healing book. This is part one, and the other parts will be published in future.
The final episode in the series. A raw and challenging look at the rising tide of world culture against biblical beliefs, and how to navigate the seas with love and compassion.
The World! Oh my. It's such a beautiful place, filled with beautiful places, people and possessions, but how can I live truly for God in a time when everything is malleable, including the truth! How can I desire him above all possessions and principles.
The Armour of God, you've heard it many times, you've heard different practices regarding it's application too, today, Alexander focusses on the Helmet of Truth, there are some new learnings in here.
What does it mean when two people wake up having had a similar or similar themed dream?
Scripture tells us that nobody can see the face of God and live... So, Paul... how is it that you have seen God?
If you're just joining us now, go back and listen to part 1 on the specific topic of The Devil. We're going to be going in depth as we always do, so keep up to date as we go along.
Worldviews, philosophies, and faith! What is true, what is real, and how can the devil lead us into realising a lie in our lives. Let's get real.
Alexander kicks off our new preaching series. In an age that increasingly seeks to deny "things of the devil", we revisit what scripture has to say on the matter, and where we see the devil revealed and unveiled in daily life. In the end, He who is in me, is greater than he who is in the world.
Stu Agnew was our guest speaker this weekend, and it was thoroughly entertaining, and thoroughly truthful. Truth in love!
The last installation in The Jesus Series. Richard brings it home. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life.
How many stages of the existence of Jesus do the world religions agree on? How many do you agree on? What are we to do while we await the return of Jesus?
Jesus suffered. He was the Suffering Servant. Man. How much are we called to accept our burden and suffering for his name?
Ever heard the New Testament Hebrew prayers over the Communion sacrament? Tune in now, it's beautiful to hear.
A teaching on the context and community that Jesus lived in and some of the nuances around the offence he brought to the religious leaders of the day.
Even more understanding of the historical Jesus and how knowing the TRUE Jesus gives us a TRUE world view.
Jesus faced spiritual conflict, and did not cower from it or bow to it. And once he had stood against it, there was consolation. And such is the pattern for every Christian. Louise clears up how inevitable conflict in our spiritual walk is intended to yield peace, victory and growth by the consolation of a Good Good Father.
The next part of the Jesus Series with a nice little recap in case this is where you're picking up. Do make sure to listen from the start of the series though, it's a goodie.
Alexander teaches on the young Jesus, who had questions about his conception. A young human Jesus who would have had to navigate having one true mother and two true fathers. This Jesus was real and vulnerable, but he drew his strength from his Heavenly Father, his Abba.
His spiritual formation came about through more relatable means that we may think, Jesus was not pre-programmed with his full identity, he would have accessed much of it the same as we, ourselves access our identities from our earthly fathers. And when he looked up! He completed his identity in his father above.
Who am I? Who is He? Who was Jesus?
Part 3 of our Jesus Series. Alexander is an experienced authority on the topic of the historical Jesus. Tune in to today's Podcast to go even deeper into the truth of the Jesus who walked this earth.
Paul was in town to ordain our new Elders and teach on connection. The Church is being brought back into relationship again. A time for restoration. And that restoration will come from connection, first with Christ, then with one another.
Why is our Jesus better than the Jesus of the other faiths? Wait... Other faiths have a Jesus of their own? Yes they do. And so does the world. Let's continue defining the Jesus of Christianity, the true Jesus.
Jesus will be thoroughly defined in weeks to come. Culture and context have tinted and tainted the true Jesus, and LifeHouse is on a journey to uncover the facts. So many wonderful facts about Jesus.
What did God say? Where did you write that? In your heart or on your mind, it's time to remember.
Are wired for something, are we wired for input? Are we wired for God, are we wired for experience? What will we discover in years to come that are things we crave without defining them, and what benefits do those things bring... Grant takes us through the leading research on being wired for love.
We're called to multiply, we're called to replicate. And the replication should be Jesus, and the method should be discipleship.
Serve one another. That's pretty much the gist of this message. It was the gist of Jesus' message on earth too as he culminated his life's ministry with communion supper and the ultimate act of lowly service in that era; of washing feet as the lowest servant. Who is above servanthood? Certainly not Christ. Certainly not Christians.
Communion has always been central to the new covenant and those living under the grace and salvation of Jesus, but do we reverence it as much as Jesus did? Do we prize it the way he did?
Do you guard the word of God, that is to say do you value your bible and bible reading highly enough to set times and boundaries around it. Is it an absolute gem in your spiritual walk, or just another book?
So now that Gary has reviewed the heart and history of tithes and offerings and their patterns in the past, let's unpack modern day New Testament Giving.
Oh man, as we enter the Temple, we're faced with the Offering Table. Which offerings are required? Which offerings are rejected? Whose heart is received? This teaching is about so much more than tithes and alms, it's about the Lord of the cattle of a thousand hills giving us a pattern with a purpose. Learn about one of your most contentious and controversial personal ministries, Offerings to God.
The Temple has always been where God chose to presence Himself. Right? Not quite... and now that Jesus has 'rebuilt' the Temple and made us his dwelling place, there's a lot to be learned about the biblical patterns and types in Temple history. Gary introduces the new series.
The Church has always been for free. Christ's Grace has always been for free. That's the scandal! However, the tension of that truth is that Christ's freedom in us, costs everything. The church will cost everything. Craig Elliott teaches on the cost of being a Christian and the true and right cost of being the Church. Tune in...
Kerry absolutely smashed it out the park today, describing good and Godly love, the love of the Holy spirit and how that contrasts with our carnal understanding of love at times. Have you been praying for God to move in your life, relationship, business, but He has said no or said nothing? Why is that? Could it be that you are not living in love the way "God does Love"?
The humble bicycle has so much to teach us. No parts are vestigial. Each component adds to the value of the bicycle and so to the experience of the journey. So it is with the Church. We're all here for a part and purpose, some parts are always in use, others are only engaged in times of crisis. No parts are without purpose.
Grief. Good Grief? Death and loss of so many things are demonic and not a good father's plan for us. But does God have a plan for grief? Yes.
A message from one of the busiest guys around, on how to rest purposefully and properly, in God.
Alexander continues his teaching on names and language, behaviour and some correction. Solid stuff!
Alexander Venter is in the house this week and this is his first of two teachings. A powerful unpacking of what goes into naming people and institutions and the significance in a name.
We live for the weekend, we work to earn our holidays! Yet... we don't always slow down and make space to enter perfect rest with our perfect Father, who satisfies our ever need and refreshes us.
Into The Wilderness we go! And we're led by two guides who've been there more than once. Did you know that God brings us into the wilderness? That he draws us out to be totally alone with us?
Marriage is the ultimate relational goal for a Christian right? Cause it's a mandate from Genesis! Right? And because Paul was married, John the Baptist was married and our greatest example, Jesus, was married too, right? Man! It's just not that simple. Or, honestly, is it? Gary and Louise spend this episode in the EQ Series elevating singleness to it's rightful place and framing marriage correctly in the Kingdom relational framework. Both can be a profound calling, both honour God, both demonstrate his heart and compliment his character.
Limits! Who needs 'em! Well... rivers need riverbanks. Clouds are hung in the deep blue sky. This sentence ends with a period. Make sense of life, understand the rhythms and punctuation of rest and routines. Hear Steve teach on why limits are a Godly and good thing!
We were taught that to dig up the past was only for archaeologists, that it was un-christian to review our lives and look up the family tree for behavioural patterns. Well, we're going to challenge that by illustrating how the bible and the Christian walk are both in support of reviewing where you are in your lineage and how your patterns, habits, sins and blessings continue to work their ways out in your lives. Go backwards! See what there is to celebrate, see what there is to halt, then go forwards!
Gary and Ian do a stellar job in describing The Wall to us this week. Unlike a trial or a challenge in life, The Wall will come to you and you may find yourself ignoring it, oblivious to it, or even camping at it. You cannot avoid The Wall, you cannot go over it, under it, or around it. Here's how to go through it.
It's that time again! This week the magnificent Leisha & Louise tag teamed on Journeying with God, Knowing Yourself and the Enneagram as a tool to get you there!
This series walks us through Emotional Health and how to mature in it. Your Christianity is not only incomplete it's also daunting without emotional maturity.
Living life with others, with the good fathers and mothers, the good sisters and brothers, whom He has placed in our lives. Honouring our friends and colleagues and understanding the role of the church in that balance.
Mile markers and landmarks, spiritually, where have we been, where are we going? Who do we ask?
Maybe you were born this way? Maybe it's the right thing to do? Maybe you're just "not a Muslim" ?
Scripture Reference for this teaching : 1 Corinthians 11:27-34
So anyone who eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord unworthily is guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. That is why you should examine yourself before eating the bread and drinking the cup. For if you eat the bread or drink the cup without honoring the body of Christ, you are eating and drinking God’s judgment upon yourself. That is why many of you are weak and sick and some have even died.
But if we would examine ourselves, we would not be judged by God in this way. Yet when we are judged by the Lord, we are being disciplined so that we will not be condemned along with the world.
So, my dear brothers and sisters, when you gather for the Lord’s Supper, wait for each other. If you are really hungry, eat at home so you won’t bring judgment upon yourselves when you meet together. I’ll give you instructions about the other matters after I arrive.
Psalm 23. Psalm Twenty Three. You've read it many times, you've heard it many times. Why is it so rich! Why is there just so much good stuff buried in it? Come digging deeper with Louise.
We're picking up on this thread that the Lord requires unity among us. It's what we're designed for. Scripture tells us that it commands His blessing and also pleases God! Where does it start? What are the checkpoints in my own life?
Unity above so many things, is worth fighting for. Imagine a world where we fought to be united, rather than to remain divided. Imagine a Groom fighting to be united back with His Bride. Imagine a brother in conflict with you, fighting to be reunited! There is good fight, and in this series, we teach on how to gain and maintain unity according to scripture.
John D'Achada was in town to teach on The Church and why it's the chosen distribution point for God's blessings. A profound teaching on why God commands certain blessings not only in unity but also in community, that's to say, if you're not in church community, you're missing out. Big time.
Faith, Courage & Commitment in building the Church of God. Steve takes us on a rich and broad journey in God and his heart for us and us-as-church.
If you think this episode on dealing with (your) idols is not for you... then this episode on dealing with (your) idols is definitely for you. Also Gary is on form and it's as entertaining as it is authoritative and informative.
Courage has been defined in fables and legends of warriors and heroes, how is it defined in the context of this new year? What is courage to you? How will you remain courageous and not allow your hands to become weak?
A special and challenging message from Louise as LifeHouse Church prepares to enter it's promised land and it's promises. Are we ready? Are you ready?
Hope is a dish best served warm and lavishly, and also best served up this week by Louise.
Yes. No. Maybe? Where does commitment begin, and where is the world losing the integrity of agreement? If we are to build trust, we need to be a people of our word.
Greg Stevens was in town and had something to say to LifeHouse, it happened to be that he got to say it from the pulpit beneath our half-complete roof.
Lust. Adultery. Divorce. What's the big deal anyway? Well for one thing, they're surefire devices of destruction from the inside out.
This episode needs no introduction, especially if you're a city dweller. Anger. What about it?
Prayer. How important, how vital is it to have conversation with God? I trust you've already answered in by reading the question. Gary teaches us from The Lord's Prayer.
We're called to live in Higher capacity. That's not to say capacity summoned up in ourselves, but capacity inherited from the Holy Spirit. No matter what your perceived ceiling is, there is a Kingdom Capacity waiting to open you up to new heights.
ὁδός is the Greek word used in scripture to describe Christianity before it had that name, before society had labelled it. The word ὁδός means 'the way, the road', and there is a way and a road to and with Jesus.
What are the consequences of harbouring unforgiveness, both now in your body and in eternity in your soul?
Are you a living, walking, talking, doing Christian who reveals the heart of God in your daily life?
Are you looking after your spiritual diet? Do you even have one? Are you ok with the consequences of "eating poorly"? Here are some pointers on getting a breakfast in with Jesus each day.
John D'Achada is an apostolic input to LifeHouse Church and this is a teaching on pursuing healing, forgiveness and unity.
It's not that we're becoming quite sane and the world is becoming quite mad. The world has always been mad! It's our moving towards the Sanity of Jesus that highlights how mad the world in fact already is. Always has been.
What is a Baptism into Suffering? Are we to really immerse ourselves into our trials and challenges as Christians?
It may well be easy to give yourself to Christianity wholeheartedly, but what good is that unless you are Whole Hearted?
It's been a busy two weeks with Father's Day and the welcoming in of new members and leaders, so here's the teaching from a couple weeks ago to tide you over! This Sunday we got so caught up in teaching and welcoming and worshipping that there was no preach. See you again on Sunday.
This weekend Paul taught on Prayer In Singing. The idea that worship is prayer and that prayer is worship. That there is a posture of unity and there are types of prayer. He mentions just a few postures in what (without the musical portion included) is a 'sermon in a blender'!
My heart only warms a cold heart when it's already warm! How do we stay warm-hearted. What is the sound of our hearts?
Are you satisfied with life? Are you satisfied with your hunger for God? Your Holy Dissatisfaction with the Now but Not Yet experience of and in the Kingdom should drive you to want so much more! Because He has so much more for you.
How hard are our hearts? How would we even know? Perhaps getting closer to the heart of the Father will give us that reference, and in so doing, melt our own hearts again.
It's Mother's day!, and Gary has woven something special into the passage between Kingdom Living episodes. This week, he went deep into the attitude of the beatitudes! You may well be shocked and surprised at who exactly Jesus was welcoming into the Kingdom! Buckle up.
The first in a new series, based on Jesus' full intention around the message of the Sermon on The Mount and the interlinked and intertwined beatitudes. This is The Invitation.
Kerry addresses the generational handing down of blessing or cursing as we represent the Father's Heart to new generations. In this clear and deep teaching we see who we are to Him and who we teach the world and our own families to believe they are.
The Sabbath is a gift from God to show his goodness to us as we rest in him. Do we accept?
