The guys then catch you up on all their own home game happenings, with Robbie barely getting any time to play but winning heaps, while Bruce looks to purposely bust out of a tournament early… for financial reasons?!
In closing, a poetic One Outer segment that’ll leave the taste of sorbet in your mouth.
In episode 305 of the Top Pair Home Game Poker Podcast, Bruce Briggs and Robbie Strazynski interview John Hesp, the universally beloved fourth-place finisher at the 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event. No less than a hero to recreational poker players, the dignified gentleman from the UK is a perfect guest for home game fans and aficionados to hear from.
Plus, Bruce is still enjoying double-digit ROI at the tables, while Robbie faced a dilemma about which home game to choose when he was recently invited to three of them on the same night!
The episode finishes off with a One Outer that’ll challenge your perception of the time-space continuum. Intrigued? Be sure to listen until the end.
In episode 304 of the Top Pair Home Game Poker Podcast, Bruce Briggs and Robbie Strazynski review a home game situation that gets WAY out of hand and give you tips to avoid and diffuse tense incidents.
Bruce is boasting a 20% home game ROI as of late and had a special visitor from the Caribbean attend his latest session. Robbie reports back from his Jury Duty at the American Poker Awards, has a funny Daniel Negreanu story to share, and enjoyed 20 hours of good old LA metropolitan poker.
In closing, Bruce relates another infamous “Gutterball-ism” that you won’t soon forget.
In episode 303 of the Top Pair Home Game Poker Podcast, Bruce Briggs and Robbie Strazynski interview Shannon Mack, who has just played in his first ever home poker game after years playing in casino poker rooms.
The hosts also dig into the mailbag to share some amazing letters from a couple of really fantastic longtime listeners, who have some great home game stories to share. Moreover, the colorful “Jimmy the Chair” pays a visit, along with a funny One Outer.
And, of course, Robbie and Bruce will catch you up on how they’re faring at the home game tables in the always entertaining “How Ya’ Runnin’?” segment, which includes a heartwarming story about playing poker… in the hospital.
In episode 302 of the Top Pair Home Game Poker Podcast, Bruce Briggs and Robbie Strazynski interview 2003 WSOP Main Event Champion Chris Moneymaker.
In the 15 years since his landmark win that helped launch the poker boom, Chris has been interviewed thousands of times, but never with a focus on home games. We explore Chris’ home game past (and present) along with what it’s like for him to have “the perfect level of fame.”
Plus, there’s the always entertaining “How Ya’ Runnin’? and One Outer segments that’ll have you smiling and chuckling all the way… to your next home game.
In episode 301 of the Top Pair Home Game Poker Podcast, Bruce Briggs and Robbie Strazynski welcome a home game player – Chad Logan, from Salt Lake City – for a recounting of an INCREDIBLE New Year’s Day poker room trip.
Other segments in this episode include How Ya’ Runnin’?, Cards in the Air, and Lessons from Gutterball, during which the hosts discuss the poker scenes of Molly’s Game, charitable poker-related initiatives, proper record keeping during poker sessions, and shootouts in the most unlikely of places.
In episode 300 of the Top Pair Home Game Poker Podcast, Bruce Briggs and Robbie Strazynski welcome longtime poker writer Sean Chaffin to the show. Sean will soon be joining us on the PokerNews Podcast Network with his own monthly show, called True Gambling Stories. Sean tells us all about that as well as about some great home game stories from his youth, when he started to get into poker.
This episode’s How Ya’ Runnin’? segment features a Molly’s Game review, learning about poker from Amazon Echo’s Alexa, and a fascinating hand from a 5/5 PLO home game run by a grandma in her 60s. Plus, a laugh-out-loud “One Outer” you won’t want to miss.
In episode 299 of the Top Pair Home Game Poker Podcast, Bruce Briggs and Robbie Strazynski interview longtime successful poker pro and media member Bernard Lee. We dive deep to discover how Bernard first fell in love with the game and learn about the home games he’s been playing in for an astounding two decades! There’s also a heartwarming look at Bernard’s annual charity initiative towards homeless children in the Boston area.
Plus, the always-popular “How Ya’ Runnin’?” segment and a laugh-out-loud “One Outer” you won’t want to miss.
In episode 298 of the Top Pair Home Game Poker Podcast, Bruce Briggs and Robbie Strazynski take a look at an interesting mixed game called “Scrotum.” Yes, that really is its name. They discuss the rules of how to play, tips for beginners, and some alternative, less NSFW names. They’ll also break down a great article talking about how to go about organizing and facilitating a home game at a holiday gathering, certainly a timely topic. Plus the always entertaining “How Ya Runnin?” and “One Outer” segments will have you smiling all the way until… your next home game.
It's our 297th episode, but our first on the PokerNews Podcast Network. Co-hosts Bruce Briggs and Robbie Strazynski introduce themselves, explain what the podcast is all about, the general structure, and the type of content you can expect. This episode’s guest is Sarah Herring, Head of Video and Podcasting at iBus Media (PokerNews’s parent company). We explore her fascinating poker heritage and hear some really great stories about her personal life and entry into the poker world.
