During His time on earth Jesus invited misbehavers and skeptics and unbelievers to follow Him.  His SIMPLE invitation was, "Follow Me".

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father [Heavenly Father] except through Me." [John 14:6]

His SIMPLE invitation is the same for you and me, "Follow Me."

Too simple?
Too easy?

Maybe we need to look a little closer.

There's something you need to know about following Jesus.

Eventually, following Jesus is going to cost you something. It may cost you a lot.

It may cost you money, carreer advancement, or even relationships.  That's because Jesus offers us the choice of denying ourselves now or losing ourselves later.

But I believe you will find that when you pay the price for following Jesus, you'll be glad you did.

Deny yourself now or lose yourself later.

Jesus.

The most interesting and influential person in history.
Right?

Is He real or just made up?
Is there proof? Not just proof from the Bible?
If He is real, what is His message?

If it’s true (and I believe it is)
Now what?

Who is He?
What is His purpose?
What is His message?

What does He say to you?

What we do with Jesus defines the faith of everyone who has ever lived.

Regardless of who you are, or where you are from. Jesus invites you to – FOLLOW ME.

Why Worry?

Worry—it's universal. It's as much a part of life as breathing. “I’m stressed.” “I feel anxious.”

Yet Jesus said, “Don't. Don't worry!”

Easier said than done. . .

Where does worry come from?  Why is it so difficult to overcome? And what can you do to conquer it?

Despite the uncertainty of our lives and the world around us and the pressure we place on ourselves, as Followers of Jesus we are directed to release our anxiety and worry to God. When we do, we don’t have to lie awake at night. Our shortness of breath can be replaced by life-giving rest. We can experience a peace that goes beyond our human understanding.

The Apostle Paul says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”

Why do so many of us feel so alone? We have never been more connected as a culture, yet we have never felt more alone.

Many experts are beginning to call loneliness a cultural epidemic. How can we have 500 friends on social media yet feel so utterly alone? A devious disconnect is underway in our culture, and it’s not just a tech problem – it’s a human problem.

We can only get so far on our own. We were created for community and God created a means to experience true and authentic community – the Church.

Simply believing in what God says isn’t enough; doing is what makes all the difference. In community, we have the opportunity to encourage, support, and spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Do not give up meeting together!

A Vision for Community.

Our thoughts are powerful! They change our perspective, impact our decisions, and influence our habits.

Sometimes no matter what we do, we make the wrong decision.  It's as though we have the wires crossed in our minds.  The truth is our lives are always moving in the direction of our strongest thoughts.  So how do we rewire our brains to think thoughts that lead us to changed lives?

Our thoughts are powerful! They change our perspective, impact our decisions, and influence our habits.

If you want to truly change your life, you cannot just change your behavior. Even if you change your actions for a while, the original issue will just reestablish itself.

That is why the way of Jesus has never been about behavior modification; it’s about LIFE TRANSFORMATION (Romans 12:1-2).

What do we do when we become trapped by our thoughts and unable to escape negative & unhealthy thinking? What does it mean to take our thoughts captive and win the battle in your mind?

God has given us, those who are followers of Jesus, the privilege and responsibility to carry His name well.

The Hebrew people of the Old Testament interpreted the Commandment "You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God" to mean they should never speak the name of Yahweh, even going so far as to create a substitute name to use in place of what they wouldn't speak.

But God willingly entrusts His reputation and His story to Jesus-followers, and we have the privilege and responsibility to carry The Name well.  As this message reminds us, God frequently uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things.  With the Holy Spirit coming alongside, there can be no excuses for thinking we can't obey the Colossians 3 teaching that whatever we do in word or deed, we're to do in the name of Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

As a Church we have been in a season of Prayer.  We have been asking Jesus to teach us to pray like He prays.  We want to seek Him like never before.  To know Him.  To experience Him in fresh and new ways.

The purpose of Prayer is to align our plans and will with God's plan - with His will.  That His Kingdom and His will would overcome and consume us - our plans, our dreams, and our desires.

As we conclude this Message Series, we are challenged to pray a simple prayer from Luke 18.  "Heavenly Father, I want to see."

We want to be open-minded, but we naturally resist things we can't control or don't understand.  So how can we learn to be open to changing our ideals and beliefs, especially if we may be wrong about something?  It begins with a simple prayer.

As a church community, we are calling our church to a season of prayer, fasting, and seeking.  We are desiring to encounter and experience God in a deeper, real, and authentic way.  We are praying for each other, our church community, and pouring out our heart for our city.

2 Chronicles 7:14 says, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then i will hear from heaven, and i will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

One of the practical ways we are joining together in prayer is by setting our phone alarms to 7:14 AM and 7:14 PM.  When the alarm goes off it is a reminder to stop and pray.  To pray for our people, to pray for our church, and to pour out our hearts for our city.

Our Goal is to Align our plans & will with God's plan & will.  Heavenly Father, what are You saying to us today?

In Matthew's biography about Jesus' life, we find Jesus declaring himself to be "the Bread of Life".  Jesus is picking up the imagery of the hungry Israelites in the desert to reveal something about God: God is the one who provides bread, but he also provides salvation to the whole world.

We are calling our Church into a season of Prayer & Fasting.

Our Goal = to Align our plans & will with God's plan & will.

What is God saying to us? Individually and Collectively.

When we pause to reflect on who God is, we gain a better understanding of who we are and why we are here.

Then, it comes down to a choice.

“Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.”

At Miami Church, we are excited to be wrapping up this year with what we are calling Year-End IMPACT 2022. What better way to end the year than to make a difference in the lives of others and continue building the Kingdom of God here in Miami?

As 2022 comes to a close, and we look forward to a new year, we are prayerfully dreaming and planning toward making a deeper Kingdom investment next year. We dream of baptizing more and more people, investing more and more resources into community outreach, and helping plant like-minded churches in Florida.

Talking to God is a conversation about Prayer. Prayer is talking to God as you would
talk to a friend, but maybe more importantly, prayer is about listening. Listening to
the voice of God. Our foundational belief is God is near & He is speaking. He is
speaking to you & me. Our God is a Communicating God.

Here’s the Big Question:
Are we listening?
Are you listening?

Part 2 – “Speak to Me” is about Hearing God’s Voice & Having the Guts to

How do we know? How are we doing? How do we measure?

“What a mistake to think that it is the task of theology to unravel God’s mystery, to bring it down to the flat, ordinary human wisdom of experience and reason! It is the task of theology solely to preserve God’s wonder…to glorify God’s mystery as mystery” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Stories.

Stories are powerful. They don’t spoon-feed us information or allow us to remain passive observers; they invite us, indeed force us, to become active participants and in so doing they capture the one part of us, nothing else can: our imaginations, which, almost above all else, need capturing and re-orientation when shaping our lives.

Stories penetrate the heart. Stories move beyond reason to your heart – your passions and desires.

The stories of Jesus are His answer to the questions we have as human beings.

Those who followed Jesus thought He was finally getting to the point for what He could do for them. They were more enamored with the signs than with what the signs were pointing toward.

When it comes to shame &  guilt, many of us naturally lean in one of two ways: we
wallow in it by reliving the past, or we deny it by making excuses.

In either instance, shame & guilt is causing us to be out of balance. The writer of

Jesus predicted He would start a gathering, a movement - what we call CHURCH. He said the church would spread all over the earth and outlast the Roman Empire. He said it would change the world. His prediction must have sounded outlandish to even His closest followers.

But here we are, 2000 years later, and the Roman Empire only exists in history books, while Jesus’ GATHERING is still going strong.

At some point in your faith journey, you will settle into a bargaining posture with God. “God, if you will…, I promise I will…” We all do it. It’s just part of religion – every religion. In fact, it’s so much a part of human nature that even some atheists and agnostics do it when they find themselves in desperate circumstances.

Is this really how God wants us to relate to Him?

For many of us, the Starting Point for the Christian faith is an accusation: “You are a sinner.”

This is strong and makes us feel very uncomfortable. You and I may resist being branded as a
sinner. I do and it’s completely understandable. But the truth is, it’s a brand no honest person
can avoid. A “sinner” is anyone who knows the difference between right and wrong and
chooses to do wrong on purpose. Yikes, that’s me.

The Good News is Jesus sees “sinners” different from you and me. In fact, Jesus is attracted to
sinners. Jesus was put off with people who thought they were perfect, but He was drawn to
those who acknowledged their life was a mess.

The Apostle Paul noted that curiosity regarding God was universal. He argued there
was something in every human that wonders, questions, and seeks. The Good News according

what God is like and to reconnect & reconcile all of humanity to Himself.

When we started Miami Church a few years ago, we had a clear vision. Our core purpose is to
Help People Find & Follow Jesus.

For us, this is not some slogan or catchy phrase you put on a t-shirt. Rather, this is the driver of
everything we do. It is the filter by which every decision is made. We constantly ask, “Does this help people find & follow Jesus?”

That’s why we create weekly environments where people are encouraged and equipped to find & follow Jesus. It’s why hospitality, generosity, and resolve matter so much. It’s why we
encourage daily Bible engagement.

Because it’s all about helping people find & follow Jesus!

But James, the brother of Jesus, has something different to say.

This episode talks about how we can take a step back and acknowledge what the problem really is- then anger will no longer be in control.

There is no win in comparison with others.

Envy causes us to compare and compete with others in an unhealthy way. It makes us arrogant because we are winning or leaves us feeling discouraged because we're not.

In this episode, Greg talks about how envy is not a problem to be solved but a tension to be managed.

When it comes to guilt, many of us naturally lean in one of two ways: we wallow in it by reliving the past, or we deny it by making excuses.

In either instance, guilt is causing us to be out of balance. The apostle Paul reminds us that, because of Jesus, guilt does not have to control us.

But Jesus was interested in more than your behavior.

It's been a tough few weeks. It’s been a tough season. Seeing a black man murdered by a white police officer stirs deep emotions within you and me. In the past days, I have cried, felt like throwing up, been angry, questioned my faith, and struggled to know which end is up.

This message is about: confession, listening, prayer, and moving forward together.

How do we as the Church lead out in justice, change, and healing?

In our message series, "The God I Wish You Knew," we want to flip the question -  What does God think about you?

What you think about what God thinks about you has a huge impact on what you think about when you think about God.

If only Christmas were like a perfectly written Hallmark movie... Snow is falling (yes, even in Miami), traffic is non existent, Christmas music plays in the background while presents are being wrapped, and the dinner table is suddenly ready.

If it sounds too good to be true, it's because we have all experienced a different version of Christmas. We can't expect snow in Miami this December, but we can choose to experience peace during the holidays.

In todays podcast, Greg will be talking about the unnecessary burden we carry this holiday season, and how to embrace the "perfect" peace possible with God.

The CHURCH is the epicenter of God’s activity in this generation and to the end of the age. You and I have been invited to be a part of the movement.

Jesus predicted He would start a gathering, a movement - what we call CHURCH. He said the church would spread all over the earth and outlast the Roman Empire. He said it would change the world.

His prediction must have sounded outlandish to even His closest followers. But here we are, 2000 years later, and the Roman Empire only exist in history books, while Jesus’ gathering is still going strong.
