August is usually a quieter month with clients on holiday, but this time “the simulation” behaved differently. From solving a new PC in Saudi Arabia missing Windows to sharing fresh blog posts and videos, here’s what shaped our month — plus the latest assistance and support statistics.

During June, Kimbley IT had a relatively quiet period in terms of business. We received a consistent flow of new business inquiries and engaged in ongoing conversations with our existing clients about leveraging Google Bard for content creation and analysis. Several of them tried Bard and were pleasantly surprised by the positive results it produced in response to their requests.
We participated in the Comptia UK Community Meeting, which took place at the Hilton Hotel near Birmingham Airport. We hadn't attended since 2019, so it was a pleasure to reconnect with colleagues we hadn't seen in some time and establish new relationships within the IT support industry.

As a Google Partner, Kimbley IT eagerly anticipates Google I/O, the annual developer conference where new products and features are unveiled. Given the intense AI competition between Google and Microsoft, we were particularly interested in learning about new AI features for Google Workspace. We watched the conference closely and were excited to see what Google had to offer.
Google's AI, Bard, is expanding its capabilities to include various tasks within Google Workspace, making mundane tasks more exciting. These new AI-powered features include composing emails and creating slide decks. We have already applied for early access to these features and hope to experiment with them soon to find the best ways to utilise them for our clients once they become available to everyone.
In May, a new client joined Kimbley IT. The company specialises in advising individuals diagnosed with cancer on how to manage the changes in their lives. They are based in the UK and Thailand. Using Google Workspace by Kimbley IT, the client can now effectively communicate and collaborate with their teams across different locations while maintaining control over their sensitive data. Something they previously struggled to do.

Hello, and welcome to April's Founder's Log Podcast!
At Kimbley IT, we are big fans of Grammarly. If you're unfamiliar with it, Grammarly is a software tool that improves your grammar and helps refine the tone of your messages. Our team has been using the business version for several years, and it's been extremely helpful in maintaining a consistent brand tone in our external communications. In April, we got access to Grammarly Go, their generative AI, revolutionising how we communicate. We utilise it for "remixing" content - creating an original piece and allowing Grammarly Go to remix it while preserving the message's essence.
James conducted a training session for a client in April. The client had been using Google Workspace before joining Kimbley IT this year but without any assistance or support. As a result, they were unaware of many of the features that could help them save time and work more productively. James recommended the features that would add the most value if the client started using them immediately.
At the beginning of April, we received a lead that showed promise. However, after an impressive initial video call, it appears that the deal may not come to fruition. The final decision rests with several directors in the company, but unfortunately, they were not present during the initial call. This means they may not have enough knowledge to make a well-informed decision. We have offered another video call with the remaining directors, but the response has been subdued.

We're Kimbley IT, based in the UK and providing IT Assistance and Support to businesses worldwide who like to have fun getting their work done from everywhere!
It's that time again to reflect on the previous month at Kimbley IT.
We started the month of March by sealing the deal with a Web Development company. This company was already using Google Workspace but knew there was so much more they could get from the productivity suite, but the MD needed more time to dedicate to growing his business than spending time administering the company's IT. So partnering with Kimbley IT was the ideal solution.
A division of a Kent-based Local Council got in touch to explore our services as they weren't happy with the service they'd been getting from the existing IT provider and wanted to look at lowering costs. Not only did it turn out that the service we could offer would be the better value we also spotted that their existing IT provider was overcharging them and disgracefully charging them for services they never needed.
The MD of the division we spoke to was exceedingly happy with the Google Workspace by Kimbley IT solution and wanted to move to us, but he would need authorisation from the council board. Sadly the council board blocked the deal from taking place—they feared change. Preferring to keep the status quo and not wanting to reduce the taxpayer's burden with more efficient and better-value computer systems.
We completed the month with one of our longest-standing clients signing a new multi-year agreement to continue our partnership with them.

😎 ABOUT US 😎
We're Kimbley IT, based in the UK and providing IT Assistance and Support to businesses worldwide who like to have fun getting their work done from everywhere!
Let's look back on what we got up to in February 2023.
February 2023 started with a new business signing up for IT Assistance and Support by Kimbley IT. This business is an accountancy firm based south of the River Thames in London. They are a Google Workspace business and are unique in that they only operate on Chromebooks, which allowed us to offer them a reduced monthly price as Chromebooks don't go wrong, compared to Macs or Windows devices.
Later in the month, we had a new business enquiry from a South East-based Borough Council. The Borough Council has some business enterprises they have invested in and are currently exploring if we could manage their IT systems; we should know the outcome in the next week.
Before the pandemic, I regularly visited IT business owners' meet-ups in Reading. These meet-ups have recently started again, and James attended for the first time in three years. The event is well run; the travel time is worth it for the selection of pizza, and the conversations and attendees are interesting.
A client who has been with us for a few months recently moved their office in Cirencester to a location based on a local airfield. This allowed Kyle to visit them in person for the first time and guide them on setting up their new office with the correct equipment.
Hello, and welcome to our first look back on the previous month for 2023.
During January, we picked up several positive-looking leads, which we closed. Resulting in two accountancy firms partnering with Kimbley IT. Bring the number of accountancy firms who partner with Kimbley IT up to nine. Both of these firms were already using Google Workspace. One self-managed and needed to hand over the management of the IT to free up time, and the other wanted to move from their current support partner to Kimbley IT.
During the month, we decided to stop partnering with a legacy client. This client, a local Shooting Ground, had for many years had a barter agreement with us, where we'd look after their IT in return for free Clay Pigeon Shooting.
However, recently it had become clear this deal was no longer fair in that the needs were much more significant than our ability to shoot. So last year, we offered them a corrected agreement with everything outlined and a discounted monthly fee of £350 to get the same support that other businesses get. They turned this down.
At the start of January, they had locked themselves out of their systems and begged us to help them out, which we did and reoffered them the same deal - which again they turned down.
We decided we could no longer support them as it was very unfair that they were dragging us away from our committed clients, so we informed them that we would no longer partner with them on a barter or ad-hoc basis. We have yet to receive a reply. They are welcome to continue with us on a fair and contracted basis.
Hello and Happy New Year! So let's look at how December 2022 worked out for Kimbley IT.
December started with a site visit to Global Pump and Seal, which has partnered with Kimbley IT for nearly a decade. They also featured in one of our first client stories seven years ago. As always, they are delighted with the service they continue to get, and their banter is still on form!
We also visit Inform Accounting, which has been with Kimbley IT for at least eight years and has starred in several client stores. They recently moved to a new location in Sutton Coldfield. This visit was to check that the IT is working well and that all the new team members they have newly onboarded were familiar with the systems. Using Google Workspace by Kimbley IT naturally meant that the new starters had no trouble using Gmails, Calendar and Drive as many use the consumer version in their private lives.
December finished with a flurry of businesses contacting us about our services and booking video calls to find out more and meet the personalities behind Kimbley IT.

😎 ABOUT US 😎
We're Kimbley IT, based in the UK and providing IT Assistance and Support to businesses worldwide who like to have fun getting their work done from everywhere!
This November started with Kyle visiting a new client to install new PCs in their office. The client had not had IT support before joining Kimbley IT and had kept with older computers, which were now slow and sluggish. These computers got replaced with some nice Lenovo desktops, which will be suitable for the next 4 to 5 years. Sod's law did make an appearance when Kyle discovered one of the new monitors was dead on arrival. A replacement got sent out and installed the following day.
During November, a long-serving accountancy customer moved offices. It is the third office move we've helped them with, and as in previous moves, we advised and guided them on technology setup. Kyle visited the new office during the month to set up some technology before the team moved in.
One of our newer accountancy clients who have been with us for a couple of months is also planning to move offices. Before joining us, they used a server to run their Iris software. The plan had always been to replace this server with a cloud solution, and the upcoming office move has become the perfect time to do so, as they don't want the big ugly server in the new office. So over the month, they got migrated to Cloud Desktops by Kimbley IT, which lets any server-based app run Google Cloud for easy access through a web browser, such as Google Chrome.
Finally, we met up for lunch at Harley's steakhouse in Kinver and had a fabulous lunch. I'd recommend visiting if you're in the area. The Rump of Lamb was excellent.
In October, we welcomed 360 Surveying and Building Solutions to our roster of businesses who subscribe to our IT Assistance and Support service. Moving them from Microsoft Office 365 to Google Workspace has allowed them to easily access and collaborate on their business data between teams onsite and those working from home or the office. And with Google Voice, they can direct inbound phone calls to the most relevant team members.
James had his second haircut for the year.
Sometimes business changes when new management is hired. In this case, one of our clients hired a new board of directors who were unwilling to pay a fair price for the services offered by Kimbley IT. And instead opted to leave us and go it alone with no adequate support.

In this episode, Kyle Heath and I double down on our viewpoint that cold calling is not for specialist businesses, where a relationship needs to be built and nurtured before you can partner up. Cold Calling may work in selling generalise products and services, where no relationship is needed, where you are willing to take on any fruitcake that comes your way. It becomes a numbers game, call enough numbers, and you get enough fruitcakes. However, if you're serious about having a long lasting business, you want to keep away from the fruitcakes and get the perfect truffles which require specialisation, relationship, empathy, and friendship - which you'll never get through a Cold Call.
