I’ve recently acquired a book called Brancalonia which is a spaghetti fantasy campaign book using the 5th Edition of the world’s most popular roleplaying game; reading through got me thinking about what I loved in it, but why I probably wouldn’t run it as is.
In this episode I’m out and about talking about that very subject and also comparing it to another game Helvecziathat has a similar vibe to it.

Having saved Count & Countess Snaroc from the unpleasantness on the Lightning Rail our heroes enjoy the hospitality of their estate, but find themselves drawn into issues with the local nobles and something sinister affecting the law in Last Hope.

Our heroes seek to escape the monolithic grasp of the Steel Empire by making their way to the badlands and the small frontier town of Last Hope where they plan to lose themselves amongst the throngs of humanity and possibly plan how they can strike back against the Empire, but first they must reach their destination.

The vampire in charge of the logging camp and his ghoul minion have been exposed to the purifying light of day and slain, but parties unknown have kidnapped Malcolm taking him away in a cart, The canny hunter has dropped some of the documents in his possession like breadcrumbs for his fellows to follow.
They begin a desperate pursuit over the snow-shrouded landscape, can they catch up with the cart and free Malcolm before he reaches his grisly destination?

With the mutant Coldwalkers freed from the mystical control of the warlock Takret, our heroes attempt to forge an unlikely alliance between the Frost Dwarves and the mutants.

Whilst Leopold tries to garner support from his cousins the Frost Dwarves of the Witch Isle, his fellows travel to the southern ruins where the undead remnants of the Order Solaris do battle with the mutant hordes of Takret the warlock.

Licking their wounds and mourning their losses from their first abortive foray into the beetle infested abbey, their recent acquaintance Simon Graydon catches up with them, bringing news of a fresh translation of the stone tablet that Leopold gave him, it may allow them to progress further into the abbey.
