Steps:
Detach the flexible supply ducts from the sides of the heatpump.
Remove the existing main trunk from the top of the heatpump.
Build a new sheet metal trunk.
Cut three 4-inch-diameter openings into the top of the new main trunk.
Over each hole fasten a take-off fitting with balancing damper.
Mount a louvered sheet metal elbow to the top of the heat pump, then attach the new main trunk to the elbow.
Attach one 12-inch-diameter take-off fitting onto the side of the main trunk. Fasten a second fitting to the bottom of the trunk.
Cut a 2 1/2-inch hole in the behind the trunk, then insert the humidifier wand. Secure the wand to the trunk with sheet metal screws.
Run a new copper cold-water supply line from the water heater to the humidifier.
Connect a drain line from the humidifier to the existing drainpipe on the heatpump.
Have a licensed electrical contractor run a new 220-volt circuit to the humidifier.
Control the humidifier with a humidistat set on approximately 35 or 40 percent.

Steps:
In the attic, attach four steel hanging bars and the metal pan from the collar ties. Position the pan very close to the air-conditioning unit.
Set the whole-house dehumidifier in the metal pan.
Cut a square hole in the hallway ceiling and install a new return-air grille.
Attach a flexible return-air duct to the port on completion of the dehumidifier.
Secure the duct to the roof framing with plastic straps.
Cut the duct to length, then connect it to the return-air grille installed in Step 3.
Cut a new supply-air duct fitting into the a/c unit.
Connect a flexible supply-air duct to the fitting. Attach the opposite end of the duct to the existing air-conditioning duct system.
Run a new PVC condensate line from the dehumidifier to the outdoors.
Install the dehumidifier's filter; be sure to replace the filter every 2 to 3 months.
Mount a humidistat to the wall beside the existing thermostat.
Start by placing the humidistat for 35 percent humidity, then readjust as necessary.
