At 26, the R&B songstress has caught the attention of soulful and even hip-hop lovers locally and internationally. The down-to-earth musician made her debut in the music scene in 2015 when she released her first single, Imposter. The song, she said, kick-started her journey in the creative industry. It allowed her to discover and build relationships with artists, such as Nasty C, with whom she released the hits Phases and SMA, as well as the score for the SA Netflix original series Blood & Water, the late Riky Rick and Tellaman. Rowlene defined her sound by saying that she felt the music needed to speak for itself before she even began to explain her intent while writing. About her latest project, Santa's Baby, the Cape-born star, who's a globetrotter, often found in LA and London studios with other artists and producers, seeks to captivate the audience through a range of genuine emotions that transcend age and time. Born in Lesotho and raised in South Africa, the fashion designer credits the success of her business to the popular African saying: 'motho ke motho ka bathu', (a person is a person because of others). She shares that she's grateful for the media platforms that featured her work, which launched her break when she started out.

If you have wondered what Ayanda Mdluli's brand title, MVP, stands for, wonder no more, as she told City Press that it means Most Valuable Player, a trait she always brings to the table in any room she sits in.
Born in KwaZulu-Natal, media personality and Y presenter Ayanda Mdluli grew up in Johannesburg. She has always been creative and has taken part in dramatic art, as she enjoys being on stage. As a straight-A pupil, her parents frowned upon her request to study at the National School of the Arts, as she had already secured a bursary to attend another high school. Being told to find her own bursary to study at the arts school propelled her to take the initiative to reach her goals. She won her bursary with a washing brand, which funded her. The presenter then got her first TV presenting job on SABC 3, which paid for the rest of high school and even matric dance. Ayanda knows the value of hard work, as she does not come from a family of wealth. Radio pursued her, as she was scouted to be part of Y, while she was doing her degree in 2013. Ayanda then moved to 947 in 20
17 for a couple of years before she moved back to Y's drive-time show. She moved back to the youth station, this time as a bigger sister to other colleagues and her listeners.
Her background in psychology helps her connect with her listeners through the conversations she has on the show and at events she speaks at.

You probably know the soulful singer from the group The Muffinz. Kekelingo, commonly known by those who know him as Kekeletso, rewinds his life to his home in Naldedi, Soweto, where he was born and grew up with ugogo and other women members of the family. He discovered his talent for singing while he was cleaning his school with his fellow pupils one Friday afternoon. His teacher heard him and compelled him to sing during assembly. After singing, a rain of coins was thrown at him, which was a testament to how he touched his schoolmates. That’s when he realised that he could make money from his vocal gift. In primary school, he invented the Keke horn, an instrument made out of plastic he used throughout his childhood and after matric to busk. He used to busk outside the late Nelson Mandela’s house or Newtown for tourists, who sometimes gave him money in foreign currencies, which he converted to rands to buy groceries for his family. He has come a long way since completing high school and journeying towards making music. He even appeared on the first season of SA’s Got Talent and made it through the semi-finals.
Kekelingo is not only his stage name but a lingo he invented. When his mom passed away in 2011, he met his bandmates and formed the Muffinz. When the group was sound-checking on the four songs it made. Keke started singing words even he didn’t understand, but only identified after the group released its hit song, Sound Check, as his spiritual language. He says he knows Africans relate to his music and lingo because they are spiritual beings.
The singer decided to go solo in 2020 to tell his personal story and share his growth. His debut single, Khonza, featuring Ami Faku, is dedicated to his late mother. Keke emphasised the power of believing in yourself and in your dreams to succeed in life. He said had he given in to his loved ones’ insistence to apply for ‘real jobs’, he says we wouldn’t have known or been healed by his music. When it comes to fame, the singer insists that although he’s the vessel or transport through which he delivers his music, he wants his work to be more known and renowned.
