In this episode, our host shares a personal recount of the recent Hurricane Helene, which narrowly missed his home but wreaked havoc in western North Carolina, a region dear to his heart. He discusses his flexible approach to his running training plan and the joy he finds in sometimes opting for a walk instead. He shares the excitement of his recent purchase, a DJI Neo drone, and the potential for creating engaging videos during his outdoor activities.
The episode also delves into the host's experiences with trail running, his past mishap on the trail, and his cautious return to participating in less challenging trail races. He talks about his running routine, the varying conditions of his runs, and the impact of weather on his pace and performance.
In the latter part of the episode, the host dives into his passion for cycling, sharing updates on his Zwift cycling goals and his son's new Canyon bike purchase. He reflects on his own collection of bikes, ranging from vintage models to more modern ones, and contemplates the joys and challenges of balancing conversation with physical activity.

I am restarting the podcast finally. I think over a year is long enough for a layoff. As usual this podcast is unscripted so I am mostly rambling on again.
I ran a couple of short trail races in the last few months and I just got back from Disney World where I ran the Wine & Dine 5K.
A little training update and that is about it for this episode. Hopefully I can keep this going for awhile.

Today I am walking at Mountain Park Park and doing my usual rambling on. Since I finally got my bike trainer up and running again I think I am going to start riding it for my crosstraining. I discuss my trip to Charleston to run the "Cooper River Bridge Run" that took place on April 7th, then after that it is pretty much down hill from there. Thanks for listening to my very inconsistent podcast.
This is my long overdue update on what's happening in my running. Ran a trail race at Chateau Elan and injured myself. Therefore my Half Marathon on December 17th is now in jeopardy. Actually it is more out of the question now. I am going to see if I can switch to the Virtual option of the race, which will give me more time to recover hopefully.
I went out to Stone Mountain to see if I could even run since I haven't been able to run since Nov. 18th. I managed to get in a 35 minute run/walk and felt encouraged but realized that the Half is really not doable in December. I Have to get into some serious rehab for my leg.

Update time, I seem to have hurt my back. I don't know if it was a result of the 9 days + of riding my bike trainer or old age or both.

Well the best laid plans for my start to the new year are shot already. As you may know on Monday the 28th of December I was to get the stitches removed from my back and get a couple of stitches in my shoulder where the doctor removed a basil cell.
I thought everything was going well. I went to the doctor and the stitches were removed with no problem. Then the doctor started working on my shoulder and everything went fine there also. At least as for as the procedure went, it was after when I said: There is no problem with me running a race on Friday, right? The doctor looked at me like I had two heads and said I prefer that you not run for a little over a week, we don’t want you to tear those stitches open and then have a mess on your hands.
At that point I realized my good start to the year was down the drain. I guess it is back to walking for a couple of more weeks. I am hoping to go to the Atlanta Track Club Resolution Run and walk it. It will be difficult to do, but that is my plan right now. Who knows what will happen Friday morning when it is time to get up and go to the race. Knowing I can’t run makes it difficult for me to get motivated to go, but I will try.

Hey! This is Ron again with episode 123 of my update podcast. Today’s date is December 22, does that mean that this is the first day of winter. Yes, it is and the temperature is going to be in the 60’s today plus a little rain.
Well, lets get on with today’s update. Tomorrow it will be a week since I had the procedure done on my back. This thing has been driving me crazy, it itches and the ends of the stitches stick thru my shirt. I will truly be happy when I get the stitches removed.
I have not really done any physical activity since last Wednesday and I think I have added 5 pounds to my weight. So, today I am going to head out and do some walking at Stone Mountain. I will take my recorder with me and try to come up with some random thoughts to pass the time.
Maybe I will start developing my plan for the coming year, I need to get started so I have a running start so to speak.

This is episode 116 of my unscripted, unedited, unschedule update podcast.

This podcast is made up of three recorded segments. The first was recorded on 11/19 the second on 11/25 and the third on 11/26.
Seg 1: I learn that when you do an update to your GPS watch make sure that it is complete before you try to use it for a run.
Ran with Laura at the Mountain in the late afternoon.
Seg 2: Walked at Mountain Park Park on Monday, a day I should have been running.
The plan is to run on Tuesday to make up for the missed run on Monday.
Seg 3: Didn't make up the day I missed so today is Wednesday and will just go with the program and not worry about making up the missed day. Had a good slow run on the trail this afternoon plus 4 - 20 sec pick ups at the end.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

I have completed the Athens Half and now it is time for another training plan to start. I have chosen to use a 10K under 60 minutes plan from RunKeeper.com. Maybe it will get me training for a faster pace.
I also feel like it is time for me to start using the Maffetone method of training. I have used it off and on, but have never stayed with it long enough to see it actually work. Now is the time!
